If you have ever fancied trying sea fishing but don’t know where to start this will, hopefully , help. I am aiming this video at the average angler who doesn’t want, or have, a lot of money to spend. This outfit will get you get started without breaking the bank. You will find no mention of Zziplex , Century rods or any top end rod. No multiplier reels either! This outfit will suit the angler who perhaps fish a dozen times in the winter whiting season and chucks mackerel feathers a few times in the summer. It will catch fish and give you a lot of fun without breaking the bank and with the shorter rod will be great for younger anglers. Bill
I've just recently taken up fishing (always wanted to do it but no-one really showed me or wanted to), your videos are invaluable to me Bill. Love every one of them. Thank you.
got yourself a new sub , Great video , Thanks , my local carp pond just closed down ( where i was learning)and not interested in doing that anywhere else . so i thought being as i live 4/5 minutes from the beach ( Rustington West Sussex) i thought sod it , i'll give the sea fishing a go . so i have gone ALL out , bought myself an 11.5ft fishing kayak , ( yet to go on that ) and some beach fishing gear , mainly secondhand, Now sir , i need you to teach me 👍😂 so here i am , i have subbed to a few others , but i like your way of thinking , i bought the kayak after doing a lot of saving so i am NO way well off , so i am on a budget , Anyway thank you for the video , i will start going through your other stuff to see what i can learn, cheers for now and Tight Lines . Baz 👍👍👌
This is great and ,down to earth ideal for beginers and a reminder for a lot of more experienced anglers. I have recommended this in the description of our series and made an advert to it at the end of my beginners series as i think you you have made an excellent video here also appreciate the good audio it makes all the difference
Sea Fishing Marks U.K Hi thank you. Wait until you see my video about the choice of rod if you have a bit more cash and the video about the choice between fixed spool and multiplier reels. That will spark a lot of activity in the comments section and I fully expect some vitriolic comments but I will fully explain my reasoning. Regards Bill
For me. Firstly i like your style, informative, straight to the point no nonsense approach. I am a beginner (last fished 40 years ago and misses it). You are a credit to RU-vid. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Happy New Year Sir.
Nice video and clear advice! I live about as far as you can get from the sea in The Netherlands, but have done a bit of pier fishing in England during holidays. Maybe i’ll have a look at doing a bit in the future. Look forward to your next videos Bill.
Living in Nottingham took the family to caister on sea and took my fishing gear. I used my carp rod, bait runner with 10lb line, used two large ledger weights and a size 4 hook. Bait I used was a small section of mackerel . Sat on the beach 4 hours and caught one little crab. Best days sea fishing I ever had lol
North Beach in GY would've been a better venue. The winter months are good for Whiting, Dabs, and the odd occasional Codling. Brilliant in the summer for Smoothhound. Fished it a couple of weeks ago and caught about forty fish in a six hour session. Never blanked on that beach and I've been fishing it since I was a kid :)
Well done, I've been fishing 50years and its amazing how much and expensive gear people recommend. It's easy for novices to get bamboozled in tackle shops. Great video
great video, get your cheap kit - the fish don't know what gear you're fishing. for slinging a rig off a beach or off the end of the peer go as cheap as you like. you'll know when you need an improvement on cheap gear as you a better fisherman until then spend your money on decent bait - it's the most important thing ! tightlines :)
hibyeization Hi exactly right! I have seen anglers with all the gear and 25 worms and a manky bit of frozen fish! Much better to spend your hard earned money on bait and with a bit of effort you can gather/dig some fresh worms, mussels etc, if you live close enough to the coast! Bill
hi Bill hope you are well during this mess ,just got a caravan near Barmouth have not got a clue about sea fishing but this helped me out a lot great video no advertising and some great tips have subbed you best wishes ,,,,Pat
I will soon be new to Fishing (beach fishing). I have looked at a couple of your videos and absolutely enjoy them. To be honest I am finding they are inspiring me to get going. Not only will I be new to the hobby, I also run a scout group which I want to get the Scouts to try their hand at fishing. Please keep posting videos, they are very much enjoyed no matter Beach or freshwater. thumbs up from me, I have subscribed and will be viewing all your videos.
thank u so much, normally lure fish from the rocks and am just gettin started beach fishing bought rods and that and rigs but clueless about hook sizes
My friend took me fishing today and I caught a Ray using his spare rod. Propper chuffed. This video really helped me get and idea of what equipment I need going forward with this hobby
Hi and thank you i am a 60 plus veteran angler not fished for a few years due to work commitments health issues but hay ho not the point I want to get across my youngest granddaughter who is almost six wants to go fishing she found your channel and encouraged me to watch I have to say spot on advice and exactly my sentiments on what gear to use its the bait that counts and a good knot as you said the fish don't know what gear your using fancy tackle only attracts the rich fishermen or wannabe fishermen, Oh i could go on but my granddaughter fully got your point and is now instructing me on what we need for our first outing, Keep up the vids great work and I have subbed.
Brilliant video! I've got a friend who wants to start fishing and I'm going to send him this video to make sure he knows what to get when I can't be there to help! 👍🏻
Great information mate very great to.here for someone returning to sea fishing after years away ps fish don't no if using cheep gear or top of range 👍😁
I've thought about giving it a go BUT I live in Nottingham, which is 80 miles from the sea, Skegness which doesn't seem to have much of a reputation for fishing (:
Barry S Hi well you live closer to the sea than me. The east coast in the Skegness area can fish very well for smoothounds in the summer and there is fairly good fishing in the summer but I don’t know about the winter situation. Give it a go. Bill
Hi Bill Sorry meant to ask in my initial comment; what’s the make and where did you pick up the beach caster referred to in the video - seems unbelievably cheap but just goes to show there are bargains to be had and not everything that’s cheap is necessarily crap !! All the best Paul
Jango Jango Hi I purchased the rod from eBay. It is marketed as a Bison and came with free postage. Bonus! After I bought this rod I read some of the buyers comments, most were ok but one slated the rod as a ‘flop stick’ and claimed that it wouldn’t cast more than 3 ozs! Well having used the rod a couple of times with a 150 gram/5 oz lead it cast it further than most beginners can manage. If you take a look at my video on Walton pier you will see me doing a ‘Brighton Bash’ as I call it and an easy cast with a 2 hook flapper rig went a 90 to 100 yards. I intend to take the rod to a field, or the beach and film a couple of casts which will be measured just to prove it can do it. It is not a pendulum casting rod nor would I go further than a gentle lob with a 6 oz lead. Bill
Hi yes it is cheap enough to get some fishable tackle. I only buy on eBay or online because most of the tackle shops near me have closed and the others mostly don’t stock sea fishing gear! For bait I mostly rely on the tackle shops near the venue to supply bait, but I do bring a pack of frozen squid and some frozen blacklug and the coarse fishing shops generally have some good frozen fish available. Bill
The Autistic Angler Hi thank you for the nice comment. A lack of funds these days means I have to be careful about what I buy so I try to recommend gear that I know is good. I’m not surprised we use similar gear if you know what you are doing you tend to end up with the same ideas. I do have a selection of high end gear, a couple of Zziplex 2500’s, a Tricast and a ground caster plus a couple of mid range rods, Shakespeare and Sonic and a pair of continentals. I intend to do a couple of video’s on casting, rods and reels which will put the cat among the pigeons, I can hear the keyboard warriors flexing their fingers! Regards Bill
Rokh &Roll Hi I’m glad it helps. Too many people advise getting expensive rods and multiplier reels which, in my opinion, is not what beginners need! Bill
Thanks for the reply, I usually course fish and by far my favourite rod is a cheap shakespeare omni rod paired with a cheap shakespeare beta 4000 reel, it just does all I need from float, ledger, feeders and floater fishing and more importantly it catches fish. The fish are only interested in the bait presentation do that right and your going to catch fish in my opinion.
Rokh &Roll Hi I couldn’t agree more. It’s not about the tackle but about the pleasure you get from fishing. Most of my video’s are shot with cheaper tackle to show anglers that it’s not the length of the rod ,but how you dangle your worm! Bill
