Easily of one the greatest films of its time. I remember seeing this film back in the day and was blown away by how "adult" the contexts was - - I was a teenager and understood the situations of the film greatly. And that grocery store scene is the hottest take ever... Great review!
Hi son! Great review!! I remember this movie, but haven’t watched it. Actually I had forgotten all about it! It’s definitely on my list now, though, You know I love Al Pacino!!😊Thanks for sharing, Love you!😘❤️❤️
Great Review once again! I have never watched this movie before, but heard it should be very good. And i love Al Pacino, so I will definitely watch it one day! Keep going the good work!
I watched this review again. I enjoyed the movie and remembered now it was on the intense side. But yeah the 1st 5 minutes of this movie are what stand out the most to me. Those criminals thinking they are going to meet the Yankees and Al's character letting that one guy off the hook with his son. For me it reminds me of pure love for baseball.
Dan you are by far my motivation for getting back into reviews, I honestly just miss being able to sit down and watch these movies with my notebook and get straight to editing. I appreciate you so much, man. I loved that scene with the satin jackets also, those ones they had on cost some coin these days.
It's funny today at work I came back yet again to thinking of this movie. One of my friends whose burnt out at the moment of work as are I called the place a shit show. Besides being hilarious he had the same inflections in his voice as Pacino did with this character. The burnt out and tired detective who proceeded to just chase after that woman. Case in point it was great acting by Pacino. Just one of those subtle things I picked up about his performance.
Man his voice is definitely what I hear when I think of ANY burnt out, tired detective. Pacino fit the mold so well, it's hard to believe he was even acting at all in this movie lol. I definitely need to see a few of his other detective films, like Cruising and Serpico. Thanks for your continued support, Dan!
I def need to check this one out. Especially since you speak highly of it and usually liking Pacino more often than not. I think as you said between Scarface and this movie he sorta feel into depression there a little. This got him back on track
Dan, I hope all is well with you, old friend. This film definitely showed a different side (at least for me) of Pacino. I was happy to see him back in action, we'd have never gotten Any Given Sunday, lol. Thanks, as always, for your comment sir.
@@Antonio_ Thanks man. Living the dream lol. I checked out the movie tonight. I agree with your review. It's a good solid/gritty film. I think maybe it being before the cell phone age also added to its grit. I agree I didn't think it was Helen either that was the killer and the ending came out of left field. My only little critique I thought of of the film is she didn't pick up on all the guys she dated wind up dead somehow? I guess it was the ex that rang Pacino's doorbell in the middle of the movie after he got out of the shower too? As you said it had that horror/scary element
@@dantheman92317 Great analysis there, those must've been some horrible dates for her to never have noticed they were dead afterwards! And that's what I thought, how did Pacino not have an encounter in that shower scene? Unanswered questions! Glad you liked the movie, Pacino is prob one of my favorite movie detectives after this one lol
@@Antonio_ haha. that's really funny all her dates were so bad they "were dead to her". I skimmed through it the second time and realized Terry had a bit role as a cable guy with a dumb lead. Remember the supermarket scene? So maybe he was going for him sooner if he answered? yeah unanswered
@@dantheman92317 haha that cable guy scene was an easter egg for me also, that i only caught the second time watching! I was like wow how did i miss that.. and yeah, its a good thing he just so happened to be "fashionably late" to the door that time for sure.
I came back to this movie only to post how I actually felt bad for those criminals.... they thought they were about to meet the Yankees lol. The little kid in me woulda been excited
haha I thought the same thing myself Dan, now that was some real police work to set that up. Then how about them turning the orange juice into a Screwdriver as their "last drink?" Thanks for your comment my friend.
@@Antonio_ Good catch! Nostalgia for my childhood was heavy in that scene. Especially with what's going on overseas. Even though I wasn't a big fan I had a Yankee jacket as a kid similar to what the cops were all wearing. I loved the one scene where he gave the guy a break. In the parking lot since his son was there with his glove
@@dantheman92317 Man i'd take that jacket right now, I was with you in the Starter jackets lol. I loved that seen you referred to, also-- it gave great depth to Pacino's character. Sort of adds to why he didn't want to believe his girl was the shooter, remember she showed him her kid?
Yeah, one of the best scenes I’ve seen in a long time. The lost art of saying a lot without actually saying it. That’s when he saw all the names of the deceased on her frig?
I love the ending when Irene and Oliver make love and he frees her finally and she said she loved him!! This movie was very erotic considering the backdrop and the plot. I need to rent this movie! ❤
