Literally just started playing 2 days ago bc I’m a huge ark and ac black flag fan. Me and my buddy crew up from time to time but I go solo otherwise. Yesterday I got grieved by some randos with no point in their destruction as I tried to turn in some quests. They really caught me off guard which caused me to be more cautious going forward. I’m now here trying to learn a few strategies to counter larger groups of folk. Solo slopping is just sweaty enough to entice me but casual enough to be fun even with alone. Learning is only fun if the education pays off so wish me luck as I try and take on any crew I see on the horizon😎👍🏻
@@timdev615 it's really simple - you can't be as good as them, so you bring them down to your level by being slightly better than them, so that they end up worse than you. ;)
Yesterday, I encountered a Royal Sovereign-themed Sloop and upon engaging, I noticed 3 things: the guy pulled really smart maneuvers, he was amazing at shooting cannons, and he never said anything toxic despite being attacked. My excitement skyrocketed for a second, I had to be fighting the one and only Phuzzy Bond... I boarded the sloop with my heart pounding of excitement, ready for the day HAYL1311 would test his mettle against the mighty Phuzz... But of course, it was just a savvy pirate with a fondness for green ships...
1. Play dumb, pretend you didn't see them by "going to an island". 2. Hiding inside the ship and emote to view outside the small window. 3. Once out of their vision, turn around and get ready, surprise them with anchor and/or chain shot. 4. BLIND SPOT : Leave the player alive in the water if too close to mermaid but too far to board. 5. Use the window inside the ship to "normal" bomb (Not sure what its called) on the windows corner, which pushes them off. Thanks to you I'm growing quickly in skills and I even surprise long time players when I tell them how long I've been playing! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your tips!
all good , but first thing , learn to land cannon shots xd good place to start is do the ghost ship battles , i've shot more cannons vs ships in one day than in one month of normal play
I haven't been watching this channel for long, but in the week I've watched I've learned more about the gameplay when I first started, thank you Phuzzy.
I’ve been playing since day 1 and probably don’t need to watch guides, but I love your videos so I’m watching anyways. And hey, it’s always good to get a refresher.
Needed this video more as a motivational boost than anything. Thanks. I'm going back out again on the high seas, solo as usual, and gonna keep fighting the good fight.
I just started some days ago with SoT and discoverd one of your video. I still don´t know much about the game, but I think that your Videos will help me and my friends to become better Pirats. Thanks a lot that you still make new Videos :'D
Awesome video! You're one of my favorite SoT players, not many are as humble or as helpful as you. I'd love to play with (or against) you but I'm on console only. Keep up the great work!
also a small thing. The sloop has its brig and no staircase on the left. There is a spot where no holes can be made so sometimes you have advantage if you present your larboard side.
Good video phuzzy I really found this helpful as I am a more defensive and offensive player but mostly offensive so this will help me a lot when I am doing solo on a sloop, I have actually been getting better, I took down a galleon on a sloop with my friend and a brig while doing solo sloop, keep making the good vids as I am finding them very helpfully
Phuzzy... I've been pretty vocal with my issues about what a lot of players do on this game... some things that even you do. but in watching your videos, you seem to have a much better mindset about the game than what I've perceived in people who do that (that, being attacking people who are minding their own business and/or aren't interested in the pvp aspects of the game)... I've seen content makers who basically are jerks about it... pompous, seemingly sadistic (in the enjoyment they seem to get from ruining another's time)... but you don't fit that bill. it actually makes me question my perception of said topic... exacerbating my introspection... which i think is important and i find myself thankful to you for having that impact on me. in any case, i appreciate what you do on here and in game and have much respect for you, for it. you make it seem not so bad. also, a side note, I think it's wonderful that you and Jackie share in the game together. I love watching the videos of you two playing together. (yes, I'm subbed)
your problem is thinking that everyone that engages in pvp is just trying to ruin someone elses day. Its a pirate game. If im trying to go to an island to dig up some treasure and i see your boat chillin on the same island, im going to engage you or lure you away to the open ocean and get you to either a)sink or b)get so bored of chasing me you give up and sail off. PvP makes this game fun, and its not just for PvP's sake.
Hi Phuzzy, thank you for all this amazing content. Definitely improved my way to play solo sloop since I subscribed to your channel :) I would love to see a video about ship maneuvers and how anticipate / surprise the ennemies.
I think some of the most important initial things to do if you are solo is to A) anchor your opponent B) drop their mast C) Firebomb. You are at a natural disadvantage and so it is crucial to even the playing field by "removing" the extra player advantage on your opponent's ship. If it's 2v1 and your opponent is even mediocre you're going to have a hard time unless you do one of those things. Here, the guy essentially eliminated himself. NEVER board if you're solo unless you have 0 holes on your ship, you don't expect the ship to take damage while you're away from it, and your opponents are heavily distracted because they're either bailing or dead and they're taking on water. If your opponent gets up the ladder, you MUST NOT DIE. If you die, it's your ship's death sentence. You must NOT allow yourself to be boarded.
I often fly the gold hoarder flag, so I usually get targeted by reapers. Thanks for all the tips, hopefully they'll help! By the way, still waiting on that solo galleon guide ;)
Awesome advice. You are an amazing shot though. I would have missed my anchor ball and then the chainshot, looked like a dolt and gave them confidence. Ha.
just started two days ago. Seems all i did those days was bail water patch and die to skelly ships. I incrementally got better. I dont slam into the islands anymore. I dont take five minutes to line up my harpoon on flotsam. Killed my first skelly ship and got owned by another much better player. Just made my first 100k gold and working towards buying my first ship. Great game. very challenging. A thinking mans pvp game.
I just drop off loot each voyage, but I spend most of my time following ships sometimes you become friends and you get a share of their loot. I haven't needed gold since day 1 and I hardly play anymore.
Great strategy! I was scratching my head though when you fired an anchorball then a chainshot without loading the cannon. Was there a cut there I can't find or is this a known trick?
when I used the chain shot I noticed that sometimes the chain shot clips through the mast, I usually aim mid way up but would it be more beneficial to aim lower where it’s thicker, or destroy their capstan with one after running them into an island and getting them to anchor turn?
Mast is always most effective, or wheel, better than Capstan. Unless it's a galleon, then capstan will be very effective. As for clipping through, that's a hitreg problem I hope they fix soon
I protect myself (new player, solo sloop) against pirate legend sails by sailing to the end of the world and making any loot unavailable for them. Just today, a 2 man sloop followed me halfway through the map. I did see the alliance flag and when I went into the water to "talk to them" the started shooting me so I knew what I had to do. Once my ship sank and the loot disappeared, they left the server (got booted to a new one). Go figure... all they want to do is grief
I don’t get why ships that aren’t good at pvp decide to attack people. Some ship attacked my crewmate and me today and we sank them using only a chest of sorrow. One cannonball was fired the whole time. It was from them and it missed
well I'm new and every time I get something like a bounty skull or a treasure chest its like the game curses me to always encounter a galleon that sinks my ship and steals my loot in seconds :(
