@@neilsives533 Thank you mate, really appreciated, unfortunately the weather has been absolutely abysmal recently, however I managed to get out fishing during the week and managed to capture a few nice sea trout, upload coming out shortly 😁👍🏻🎣
@@theanglingfront they could have been the fish pluckin at you mate they only get big bein that cute!! i wish mate been scrapped the barrel weathers sorta only broke here its been near a fortnight of s.easters/easterlies and the waters been grey, hopefully get back in the tide soon b4 the seasons finished with me here!! anywhom great upload mate 👍👍👍
I used ghillie on loch maree for good number of years plus other places in Sutherland. I used to find if you put a spinning blade in front of the Toby if trolling you got a lot more sea trout . I had use trolling in the latter end of working the it was only way people would fish as most guests were going north to Loch hope up by Altnaharra where ghilled for a number years . I hope this help you as it did for me . Plus I used the same method in the sea as loch maree emptied into the sea from the river yew was at my door step .
Na, nothin better than night fly fishing on a river for sea trout .. used to get them at spey bay using sand eels but did a bit to much damage to em. But your right , find a fresh water stream that enters the sea and that's were you'll find em.
@@theanglingfront lucky lad.used to stay in mosstodloch, elgin. Love sea fishin especially cod..know lots of marks but had to move south. But its not to bad were i am. Give the sand eels a go . Beachcaster light lead.
@@peterwalls308 Yeah, I have been fishing this neck for nearly 18 years, baitcasting will normally see me into a hell of a lot of doggies 😂 Some nice cod in the past, and conger, but generally I will try head north for bait fishing, especially on the boat 😃😃
You are correct. I have been scanning a series of wee burns and checking pools for trout, finding mainly small brown trout. I’ve started to spin at the mouth of the burns and as the man says, yes the sea trout are there but tell no one.
Nice mate. Have u seen some of mine in the west coast. Mostly LLAIA permitted water but also a few other spots. The finnock can give you a fair old fight as well. We fly fish mostly. 2 seatrout at a time can be crazy.
Great session! Like, you, I always look for a stream entering a bay, although so far it's only worked once for me🤣 although the few times I've tried for coastal sea trout I've been on fly. you've probably got an edge with the lure, distance wise. Magical fish, I had one from a local river the other night, next vid!🤣 your channel is going to explode mate!!👍👍👍
@@theanglingfront Cheers Michael. Might be better for you to look me up, it's David Procter aka soul trader 57, there's hundreds of Michael levine's!!!
Nice one mate, another sub for you 👍 you not had any bass round there, ? There's a few in the estuary now,I know your doing well on the sprats but you should also add 1 or 2 of the savage gear isp seekers and the savage gear pencils, they sit higher in the water, keep them coming pal and tight lines 👍
Superb fishing and footage mate really enjoyable viewing, I've always fancied giving the sea trout a bash from the coast but found it a bit daunting in knowing areas to fish, would you normaly concentrate on sea lochs or the open coast or both ?
Thanks mate really appreciate that, and I’ve never personally fished the open sea for them, I live next to sea lochs and my go rule is to find a area that’s shallow with a fresh water river going to to the sea? I’ve always caught them using that rule of thumb however I’ve also caught many of them over deep rocky outcrops to! They can be so unpredictable at times and frustrating, but that’s part of the fun 😀
Thanks for the reply mate much appreciated, I'll have to get out and give it a bash, I've a few areas in mind with rivers close by that get sea trout so I'll gives it a bath 👍
If your gonna return them use barbless hooks! you were hard taking hook out of fist catch and lots of blood on underwater return vid! Just my humble opinion! cheers!
Great wee video. I used to catch them on ABU Krill's but the wee super sprat seems to do well. Heading down the coast tomorrow for a wee shot. Have you tried at this time of year ? I used to find February quite good although there were always Kelts about. I return them anyway.
Thanks Jimmy appreciate it, and yeah mate I’ve had a good bit of success for the past month, I have other Sea trout videos from this month on the channel if your interested, what coast are you heading down to?
@@theanglingfront I was going to try north from Large. Don't really know where to start. I was going to fish half tide down to low then a couple of hours the other side. Thought about trying Meigle area.
@@theanglingfrontSo. I had a cast at Large this morning on a dropping tide. Mistake. I should have fished the tide up. I was basically fishing mostly over sand as the ground cover got exposed by the tide. Not even a follow. On a positive note, the wee super sprat looks great in the water. Do you use a link swivel to the nose or split ring and swivel ? If you fancy a wee bit of company some time give me a shout. Happy to drive) share petrol costs. As an aside, I tried a Savage Gear IS Seeker for a while. Looks amazing in the water.
Thank you very much, appreciate the comments mate, and I personally prefer mono, I normally use 8 Pound diawa sensor, I usually use mono because the ground that I fish is usually very rocky 😃
Hi William, thanks for info, in the past I have always used a white weighted minky fly to great success, but will definitely try a milder minnow at some point 🤙🏻
@@theanglingfront hahaha not far at all. Will hopefully get a wee setup for my time off next week. Not done much sea fishing and recently got into fly fishing. Your videos are excellent man, look forward to seeing more
Hi John, I would say March, however, after doing some light rock fishing around the Clyde in the last few weeks, I have noticed a lot of Sea Trout activity, I even had a few follow ins when targeting pollock, I’ve also seen a lot of sprats still here close in which is what I’ve seen the sea trout feeding on, even in December!! Absolute craziness!
Hi Viking Norway, it was a quick release under 1 minute, I debarb the trebles, but have now taken on the advice of using a single hook, I think toying with nature is a bit extreme but personal opinion, thanks for commenting anyways 🤙🏻
@@VikingNorway-pb5tm829 Ok no problem, no harm intended, thanks for commenting anyways, Are you living in Norway? And if so, I can just imagine the size of Sea Trout you catch on a daily basis, would defiantly love to visit that part of the world, tightlines mate
