Jump scare are too easy (and not that terrifying). Create a good atmosphère is much more difficult, but that's what make différence between good movie and Bad movie.
What? I was scared as hell that a jumpscare would come. Even that was so scary for me I'm a huge pussy when it comes to horror movies but for some reason they are very interesting and I just wanna keep watching l. That's the cloue
I love how in almost all of your horror shorts rather than using low key lighting or dark gothic locations, you make use of natural brightly light sets! Not only does this create a sense of realism, but it makes things 10x more terrifying when horrific things happen in such lightness! Keep it up, you have a future in this genre I can feel it!
Well that was certainly unexpected!! I thought the lady waving was the ghost of the buried girl…never considered she was the dang killer!! Very clever!!
Proof that you don't need flash and dazzle to do a great scary story. The shots were expertly timed, the music was effectively creepy and the beach comber's reaction seemed so real. Awesome stuff.
I. LOVE. this... at first I thought it was a supernatural thing and the waving woman was the ghost of the corpse she was about to stumble into... oh how wrong I was. "A surprise for sure, but a pleasant one"
Oh my god! I swear to whatever I can, this was absolutely THE MOST terrifying progression in the history of all horror movies I've seen. I'm not exaggerating or overreacting-this was just excellent. Right from the mood set of the innocent bye to the music leading upto that moment. I've never genuinely been more taken up by something, and this was just a short film. Truly one of the best I've seen so far. Please become Hollywood's director soon. : )
that was the perfect jump scare. no musical sting, just showing whats happening and letting the audience do whatever they want with the things they see! you are VERY talented.
Bro came from reddit, damn that was some great shit. Loved the ominous background presence, that no jumpscares occurred, and the scene of her head then being under sand. Overall, very well done, please continue to put your stuff up to reddit.
Mobile Filmmaking there is a short film subreddit, but I actually posted this to the horror subreddit. That’s where all these reddit comments are from. Here’s the link: www.reddit.com/r/horror/ Here’s the link to the short film subreddit too: www.reddit.com/r/Shortfilms/
Reminded me a lot of the 1960s adaptation for the BBC of M.R. James' short story "Oh Whistle and I'll Come to You, My Lad". Same sense of increasing dread, similar stretch of beach, and a mysterious figure stalking the protagonist. I've seen two of your shorts now, and I love your work.
Adam Cole thanks so much! I absolutely love the atmosphere of classic old english ghost stories. I’m not familiar with that one, I’ll have to look it up!
@@dylanclark And this is the 2010 version with John Hurt. Both are superb in their own way. Keep up the excellent work! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CWJGi4Rsb_M.html
Your films are so creepy and scary, and they're so much more than just a loud jumpscare or dark/shadowy location! They're so suspenseful and anxiety-imducing! I really love them!!
ladyofwisdom2 hahaha, someone in the comments theorized that the main character is picking up trash as community service work because she’s a convict. If that’s true then maybe she really does owe that chick some money.
Cool. As many people have already elucidated the fact that you have done a commendable job despite shooting this film at a bright & sunny location, i too concur with them. I also liked how you didn't use those unnecessary sound effects. Everything went calm and at the end, it was just....startling and horrific. 😨
This is the second Dylan Clark short film I've seen, and the second I've been abundantly impressed with. You definitely have a signature style. Sky's the limit for you. Very impressed. Subscribed.
Short and simple, but really engaging. Nice work! Thought it was gonna be supernatural by the first shot of the creepy woman waving, so the ending caught me off guard. Not like the typical jump scare RU-vid horror shorts.
Holy sea-lion! That was cool. I thought the waving girl was a ghost. I didn't expect that. Then again, when you're surname is Butcher... how can you go wrong?:))
Huge step up from The Pretty Thing. Calm build up and no cheap looking mask or effects. Just a realistic and genuine situation that doenst need any difficult effects. Most importantly the editing really sells it. This is really good. Nice aesthetic as well
Don't you think it's hypocritical when you own a dog to say anything about the environment? You probably eat animal products as well and don't see the irony.
That was so dofferentt han the average horror film. There were clues that way that gave you the bigger picture in the end. That is scary in a real way, not with imaginary monsters and stuff. A job well done💯💯💯
This was so good!!! Great Job👍 The quality and cinematography were spot on! It was very Creepy And Eery! You should definitely do some follow ups to this with other people experiencing things👍🎉 Keep Up The Good Work🤩
When you are the only one on the beach and see someone not very clear in the distance just staring at you, you must be very silly not to figure out something is not okay, or at least look every 5 seconds behind
DAMN....late to the party, and you got me yet AGAIN Mr. Clark! Amazing work. There are films 2 hour long that don't do this. AGAIN, you have me asking 100 questions and STILL enjoying the story...like why is the killer in what looks like a maids uniform? How many bodies are there? She seems to look around like there are more. More importantly, where is this beach so I still the hell away?! lol
This was a good one. {SPOILER ALERT} I like how you were expecting it to be some sort of ghostly threat, but then they turn the tables on you and it’s just some psycho with a knife… definitely no less scary.
THIS WAS PERFECT!!!!! Oh my god you played on a very specific creep factor that would always bother me as a kid when going to the beach, I used to think the dried dead sea grass everywhere was weird and kinda creepy like it was mermaid hair as dumb as that sounds lol
