thank you for sharing the truth the US is very messed up about this issue! we have to put our loved ones in these metal boxes with extra protection! my entire family that is deceased has been put in simple wooden coffins and cremated, still with viewings. This whole idea that you need to save the body, is complete and utter sales bullshit! sorry when you die that's it view then get rid of the body! this whole idea of hey your loved one will be looking good in this is stupid!

I should have taken a picture! When my father-in-law passed the funeral director was singing the praises of this type of casket and actually was attempting to sell it as that type. I pulled out my electronic device and calculated 5 years out and asked him if that date worked for him. The look I got was priceless as he asked what I was talking about! I told him that if he wanted us to pay more for the type of guarantees he was claiming that I expected him to pull up the casket at his expense to prove it was worth the money! So, does this date work for you? He was not expecting that reaction to his sales plan!

As I heard from a funeral director friend of mine that in a sealer casket the body will basically liquify... Meaning the casket would turn into a container of soupy remains...Or when enough gasses build up in the casket the lip will pop off the casket. And if entombed in a Mausoleum fluids will leak out.

Kaitlin Doughery brought this up! she is a funeral director of many years and puts down the whole save the body concept! I do too, in the UK 80% of people are cremated. The industry here is like used car sales people you need this stainless steel box to show you love your loved one! really! at least a used car has a use!

Love your truthful video. In the last 3 years we had 3 funerals and they try to such you dry and the worst time. Why make the living feel like they have to put on this big show for everyone to see. I don’t want to be put into a big jewelry box because that’s what a casket reminds me of. Jewelry boxes for the died. Even in death some people have to show others that they have more money or things then others. I am not saying don’t do it but just use common sense.

I've worked in a funeral home. The casket is the focal point in the funeral-of course with the body in it. There's another silver casket (just behind the sealer displayed) I remember selling to families many years ago. The silver casket is non-sealer with cheaper materials and finishes but does the job. The sealer casket just looks nicer for presentation. There's also a difference in price-probably $1,000. Sealers will only deter the elements from entering the casket. I wasn't paid on commission, but would inform families that the casket showroom and a car dealership showroom are entirely different. Their loved ones would be seen in the selected casket for 1-2 days, and will be buried thereafter. I would also inform the family the terms of the contract services will need to be defrayed 4 hours prior or there would be no service. Sealer caskets are nicer but a strain on budgets and a status symbol of sorts in certain communities. There are only a very few who get to see a body after exhumation. Over time, mold usually takes over the body and the unit. Who would want to see that?
@MrG2U73

This isn’t always true. My cousin died in 1962 at age 7. She was buried and then her parents had her exhumed to be cremated in 2010. Her body looked the same as the day she was buried. In Michigan it’s law to put casket into a vault when buried under ground. It was amazing that she hadn’t decomposed. The funeral director said this isn’t shocking.

In the first place, why have a half of lid casket when having a full lid casket is a much better choice if you don't want elements entering inside whare the dead body is at. Who came up with this half a casket lid stuff anyway? Its silly, and it's cheap! Go for the full lid casket, it's a better deal, Lucille. All my family and relatives were buried in a full lid casket.

When you drop the extra dough to seal your casket, you create an anaerobic environment. The digestive bacteria and enzymes that inhabit your gut continue their work only instead digesting your food, they digest you. Your internal liquify, eventually spilling into the casket. The decomposition gas pressure since they cannot escape continues to rise to increase in pressure until eventually in some cases, they just explode. Worth the extra $300? I think so! 👍

If what you are telling us the general people is true that I will forever be haunted by what I actually didn’t know... I do have a question though does the vault keep the body dry unlike a grave liner?? This all can be very confusing, or does the glue when it gets wet mot stick and let elements in the casket??

Even though looking at caskets and all that stuff is not pleasant, it is important to get all the buying and planning done. Instead of buying through the ‘ripoff’ people at the mortuary or cemetery, you can buy caskets at these cheaper at casket warehouses in strip malls. As need delivery. P.S. I learned the hard way and bought at the cemetery. My wife 4 1/2 years ago. The funeral was paid for because we paid for it 30+ years ago. Advice from grandpa. Sealed or unsealed, YOUR DEAD

I can talk sadly from experience. My partner was buried in a sealed (Gasket) casket.Although embalmed. Exhumed two years later for an autopsy, and in the report was in perfect condition. My advice from real life is go for a sealed casket. This video is miss-informing. P.S. It was noted that the casket interior also was in a perfect state, with no staining or penetration of any kind.

It seems to be a theory that cemeteries break the seal of a casket before it is entombed. I have witness many families seeing their loved one entombed, the outer part sealed followed by the final closure of the outer marble plague & never saw such action, so how can this be fully explained because waiting for a family to leave the premises can make this attempt nearly impossible once the sealant hardens. The cemetery staff wouldnt have a family know this dark secret to prevent burping caskets & possible plagues becoming a bit opened thanks to the buildup of gases in the body.
@titanicwhiz
@titanicwhiz 5 лет назад
Caskets use gaskets are rubber.. like the ones around your car door... which overtime rot and leak... if buried they don't bother to penetrate the gaskets... buried in a public mausoleum is different.. they will to prevent the caskets from blowing apart from being sealed after few years.. which does happen... sometimes they even prop the casket door open in there or put adsorbent material inside..
@adriennevaughn1802
@adriennevaughn1802 5 лет назад
@@titanicwhiz entombment, once they slide the casket in & out of sight where the have a device to penetrate sounds logical but again the families are unaware of this. I know gaskets overtime breaks down esp. If a body is not properly interred.

Caskets have locks built in them. And after the body is locked in the casket, they take a Allen wrench to the casket. It's permately sealed, ain't nobody gettin in there without the key to unlock the casket or an allen wrench. Besides, by law, your also required to purchase a vault that your casket is buried into, and once that gasket on the vault lid is on the top and the dirt in onto of that lid, it also has a gasket that seals that casket in that vault permately. Now, if the family members want their relatives exhumed, you have to have a court order and legalities to exhume that vult and casket and pull that casket out of the vault and yiu also will need protection clothing and gas masks and oxygen because of the diseases that are prevalent and are in there with the decomposing body. Safty has no quitting time.
