Great advice. I like your style. You have to think like a water drop. I'm a physics guy and water can do some crazy stuff. You clearly understand this. Everything is physics. I don't understand why they don't teach it more in school. You said you wanted the grey sealer but I like the contrasting colors of the black. It makes it easier to see where you have put it. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Thanks. Fixing leaky cars was my teacher for most of it. I am no expert on GM A Bodies but I have worked on a ton of them and they all have the same issues. Yeah the black did help me see where I missed that is for sure. Do the rules for your truck require anything special to seal the driver compartment?

Great video and advice about the drains. I always tape along both sides of the seam for easy cleanup.

Thanks, That probably would have been best but it would have taken a few rolls of tape with all the sealing I did. I just winged it and went back with a razor blade to remove any blobs after it set up a little.

Great video Mark, awesome tips , you pretty much need to go over the entire car like you did and think about water flow and drainage, one of those things you really need to take your time and do it right. Appreciate the video Mark!

Thanks Ray. I don't imagine Ruby getting wet or driven in the rain but you never know. 2 of my friends were driving their classic cars from the hotel to the Hot August Nights in Reno a few years back and got caught in a huge downpour flooding the streets. I think it will help tighten up the whole car too.

I'm not ready for seam sealer on my Firebird, just yet. But I will be within a couple weeks. Glad to see you're using urethane. I was wondering what the best product would be. Thanks for the info on the 3M urethane.

Hi Roy. There are a bunch out there but not all of them are clear what they are made of. They glue in windshields with urethane so you know it is tough.

Nice work, looks good. Did you seal where the rockers and floor meet? Didn't look like it in the video.

No I didn't but I will with the brushable seam sealer now that you mentioned it. I noticed a couple of other areas after I was done. Thanks!

As usual, no short cuts for you. It will pay off later! That rotisserie is really paying off for you!!

Thanks Doug. Yes it is and I can guarantee I wouldn't have been able to do such a thorough job without it. Best 700 bucks I ever spent!

I might have missed it, but did you seam seal the outer wheel well to qtr panels?

That sure seams (pun) like a place you would definitely want to.

Great question and no I did not....yet. When I made room for the larger tires I rolled over that edge so I am going to use the brushable seam sealer in that area and a few others. Good catch!

Why not just throw bead welds on the areas you want sealed before you primer?
@FoothillPaintandFabrication
@FoothillPaintandFabrication 3 дня назад
I don't know how many feet I sealed but it was a lot. I did weld several areas where spot welds didn't take or it seemed like it could use a little extra but welding that much 19 gauge sheet metal would be counter productive and could cause warping or pulling.
