In this it's not actually bad he just found a way to do the surgery in a better way which is possible but not if he leads also it was his first time to lead so that's the reason he freaked out
Shaun is a good doctor… he told the patient ahead of time she wouldn’t need a feeding tube but later found out she actually did need one. The patient who was agreeable to have Shaun as her surgeon was upset and requested a new surgeon. However, Shaun is the best at his job. The chief surgeon said you gotta go to another hospital since you won’t have Shaun as your surgeon. Patient then cave in and agree to let Shaun be her surgeon again. Shaun is so good that he studied in a short amount of time another procedure to give the patient what she wanted which is no feeding tube. He freaked out due to a change he didn’t expect, common for those are with autism. Dr. Andrew’s who’s a veteran surgeon had the experience and confidence and Shaun had the knowledge. They worked as a team. Dr. Park was the one who calmed Shaun down so he can explain himself better. The patient was treated successfully and doesn’t need a feeding tube for the rest of her life 😊.
The fact that he was able to keep himself calm long enough to explain - hell, the fact that he was able to explain his train of thought - is incredible
All of the comments here are wild. He’s one of the best surgeons with autism; the FACT that he freaked out is a HUGE deal because he wouldn’t normally do that!! That immediately alerts the other doctors that he’s seeing something MAJOR. This is a show - not a movie - called The Good Doctor. And I would 1000% want him to be my doctor and surgeon if I needed it. The case they’re referring to is (if I recall) a court case (which he was found to be not at fault), so he’s not permitted to do these complex surgeries at this time, and the other doctors haven’t done this intricate of a surgery before, so they NEED him to walk them through it.
I wuld want murphy to by my doctor he is really dediated if he freak out is a serious matter ppl with autism have a special ability to solve things like a invisible screen of their analisis on their brain projected as visual some not some do got it also what i like is how the team an other doctors belive in him time to time their trust goes stronger
I don’t want a mentally unstable freak treating me or performing surgery. I say that as an autistic adult. This is highly disturbing, unprofessional, and unsafe for patients.
He took himself out rather than risk harming the patient. He knew it was too big for him alone. That's the surgeon you want on you when on the slab, not one whose ego and reputation are more precious to them than your life.
But he did in fact risk the patient by ripping off all his shit and throwing a toddler tantrum. This show is fucking stupid and nobody that unprofessional deserves to be a SURGEON.
No, he had a court hearing/case/lawsuit thingy. So he was temporarily prohibited from doing complex surgeries. The other doctors hadn't done a surgery THAT complex, so basically only HE could do it. But he wasn't ALLOWED to do it (keep in mind his condition, that binds him to order, rules, etc.) He freaked out because he saw HOW complex the surgery really was, until AFTER they opened her up. So he panicked, because he saw that she would need a riskier surgery. Than what they had anticipated, when they prepared for the surgery. But he knew he wouldn't be able to do the surgery, because of the rules. He ended up handing over the scalpel, & walking the other doctors through it. You also have to keep in mind, that he became a doctor to save lives. Because he couldn't save his brother, when they were kids. So he gets very emotional when it comes to knowing how to save someone, but not being allowed to do it.
@@nicholasjaworski9368acting like a toddler? You know nothing about autism and it shows. I hope you never meet a real autistic individual or if you do, you are told what a jerk your words make you out to be.
My God, this young man is a fantastic actor. To be able to act like this, WOW. I can't imagine watching him in anything else. I wouldn't know who he is.
Oh my gosh, please watch August Rush. It's been free on RU-vid for a while. It's been one of my favorites since it came out. He (Freddie Highmore) plays a child who is the product of two musical prodigies who meet on a rooftop and nature takes its course. He ends up in the foster system and it's rough to watch. He is fantastic. Robin Williams, Keri Russell, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are in it as well!
Omg! A crossover between those two would be absolutely hilarious and so over the top. I would be completely down for one crossover episode of them. ❤❤❤
I have autism, diagnosed at the age of 6. Back then, people thought I was smart enough to, at some point in the future, cure cancer. I was gonna be the good doctor. I'm 19 now, and I've gone through trials and tribulations, and even though I'm not a doctor (not even close), I have moments like these where I feel incompetent af, and as such, I can relate to Dr. Murphy here.
There's a difference between incompetence and ignorance. You're aware enough to realize that even if you may have the knowledge to do something, you lack the physical skill or precision. That kind of self-recognition and restraint is rarer than you think, but it's a good thing to have. Recklessly pushing forward often leads to disaster.
Just remember, not being able to do one thing - for whatever reason - does NOT equal the same thing as not being competent enough in general. Some of the people who are amongst the world's greatest at what they do are always going to have other weaknesses, but that doesn't take anything away from what it is they do great. You just have to keep trying to find *your* thing and don't ever give up on yourself! 😊
If I remember correctly, he had some legal issues & attttwas temporarily prohibited from doing complex surgeries. So he gets very emotional when it comes to knowing how to save someone, but not being allowed to do it.
Kind of terrifying, because apparently in something like 1 in 10,000 surgeries, the anesthesia doesn't completely suppress the patient's awareness. Supposedly, it's akin to night terrors where you're awake, but unable to move or communicate.
This broke my heart. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with the jejunal lesion tumor, and I can't help but cry about this since i am living this with my baby😢😢😢
I’ve been here before, not in the field of medicine or that level of genius and certainly not with a life on the line, having someone to work with you while in that state is absurdly helpful. If someone is freaking out for any reason, patients is key.
Freddie Highmore is an incredible actor and played the role of Dr. Shaun Murphy very well❤. It's amazing how he kept using the American accent on the show and the show has been going from 2017-2024. Freddie is from the UK. He is very great at switching from his English accent to an American accent.
Shaun responded poorly to his realisation, but his colleagues in turn responded appropriately to that. If they had chewed him out or booted him from the surgery, things would have been much worse
Sean knows what he can and can't do. Even though he knew what needed to be done he knew that because of the complexity of the procedure he couldn't perform it. He knew the procedure required better than any other present surgeon but couldn't take the lead.
I haven’t seen this show but I know Shawn is like mega talented doctor. So he freaked out and was too scared to perform the surgery needed, yet he could talk his team through it is powerful! Even the best choke at some tasks! Very humbling for the show to show that off! And his team is awesome to comfort him and able to step in when he needs to switch out.
Children Children!!!! It will be OKAY!!! We are living in the age of Kali. It is okay to have different opinions & it is okay to be misunderstood. I wish everyone Health, Wealth, & Happiness❤😊
@@im._.restless i am not seeing it comedic as in autistic meltdown calm down for god sake its just shauns acting sends me i have autistic friends and a real autistic meltdown it definitely is not funny at all if not scary
I just love watching him!!! Especially seeing how he reacts to his difficulties, I'm also autistic and I wish people would understand me when I have these... Freakouts... 😅 There are things that are too complex.
It was through all this kind of shorts I knew this series and now I have downloaded everything and watched them all from Season 1_7. Its a lovely series
Andrews was such an ass to Shaun when he first joined as a resident. But when Han took over as Chief and started bullying Shaun, Andrews gave up his job to save Shaun’s… So wholesome…
