he's too good defensively while pushing forward, the only tactic is to circle him and pot shot him, if Strickland wants it to be more entertaining he has to cut people off so they can't circle or he can go back and counter, but no he just wants to walk forward slowly jabbing and teeping

Unfortunatly for Sean walking forward and not getting knocked down aren't the key scoring criteria. He just throws jabs and teap kicks 99% of the time. Nothing with power. He doesn't try to finish opponents, until the last 10 seconds of this fight when he opened up and started roaring at the crowd after like he's some type of exciting, dominant brawler. Holloway must have been laughing his a** off. Sean is a point fighter who hasn't adapted to the new scoring criteria, which prioritises damage.

So excited to see him only jab and throw front kicks for 4 minutes and 55 seconds each round, then actually throw combos for the last 5 seconds of each round, to act like he won the round. Huh... I never even considered that, but it makes sense. The only time he ever has any boring fights that I've seen has always been when his opponent isn't engaging with him. Then again, it's a matter of perspective too. Some people only get into the fight when they see someone get rocked or stopped. For me, I find fights like his against Izzy or Dricus entertaining... more so Dricus, after round 2, izzy went into cruise mode and it wasn't very entertaining. Dricus was bringing the fight to Strickland nonstop though, which was entertaining.

Ok hear me out, Sean is like a crazy mix of like Wonderboy Thompson and Chuck Liddell. He’s an archetype of fighter I don’t ever recall seeing, he’s a brawling point fighter with slick and unorthodox defense for MMA. Anyone who thought the fight was boring and that it was due to Strickland and not Costa is insane. Y’all really spent $80 plus dollars on the ppv to not even know what you’re watching lol

Stricklands walks like zombie and just spams 1-2 and front kicks. Whereas izzy and wonderboy both have a karate style of fighting. It's quick movements and kicks. Constantly on their toes and moving. They use range to avoid getting hit. Strickland just blocks and parries. He's an ugly fighter. It's a boring style.

Every Judge who gets a fight so backward and wrong needs to be suspended for a year and made to retake a course on MMA scoring. Also each Judge needs to talk to the MMA press just like the fighters do after a card so they can feel the heat of bad calls. 49-46 for Costa was a Stevie Wonder scorecard. 😎💩

It is INSANE that Sean has fought Izzy, Costa, and DDP with absolutely ZERO damage done to him. He had a small cut from DDP, but technically, it was from a clash of heads.

No it did not originate from a clash of heads...it was from an elbow that ddp landed..which caused a small cut...which got accentuated later by a minor clash of heads.... please watch that sequence again...and this is coming from me who truly believes that Strickland beat DDP and is still the champ

Costa was panting and got touched up a lot. Strickland set the pace by coming forward the entire fight, his defense kept him from taking shots and he barely broke a sweat.

Who's fault was that though? It takes two to tango and sean came well prepared and ready to fight. Costa did not. I think the thing with sean is that he doesn't seem that good until the opponents in the octagon with him and then they realise when it's too late. As a fighter he is very deceptive and has high fight iQ.

It's not strict boxing though because he mostly spars in mma gloves apparently. It's boxing with wing chun , using the lead side for most attacks , parrying strikes and rolling with punches , his strikes are simple and direct to the target. This is just my analysis from watching every one of his fights.

After watching this Costa fight, I'm probably not going to watch one of his fights again. The Costa from Yoel was the one I was hoping to watch. Now our hope rests on Chimaev to come back and bring some action back. This fight was a bit meh, good win for Strickland, but against Chimaev, he would have much more problems.
