The only thing screwing up these divisions today is management's feelings. Sean and DDP should have been an immediate rematch, but someone in management obviously does not like Sean and his personality. Giving the fight to a guy who lost 5 rounds to Sean is ludacris.

Dricus vs Izzy was the fight to make. For parity reasons plus it has the most heat on it. Sean should just fight Bobby knuckles if he wants a fight in the mean time. If he beats Whitaker there'll will be zero doubt he's #1 contender.

strickland and whitacker will probably happen, let's be real, sean just wants a good number and robert is a company man, the timing just has to be right, they need time to recover enough to fight the izzy-ddp winner who will need time to recover say ddp wins aug17, sean fights sep1... then sean and ddp fight october 17? sean and robert shouldn't have to fight, but they're the only ones who haven't fought each other yet, they fight all the time and we're used to it, and aug17 is a long way away for us fans to wait, so we THINK we deserve their fight, sean is STILL top contender at the end of the day and can do what he wants

That is a really good point that Chael made about an instant title rematch, if that happens then Sean could be forced to wait a long long time and this could turn into a Strickland vs UFC issue... They could really stuff him on this and make him look like a coward amongst his fan base - especially if Whittaker is proactive and takes another fight in the mean time thus becoming a fan favorite for a title fight when that comes around. If the rumors are true that the UFC dont want Sean as champ, they could make life difficult for him and force his arm

I completely agree with Stricklands' argument, but..... out of all the possible combinations between the top four fighters, by far the most exciting fight possible is Strickland vs Whitaker. That's the fight I want to see most. Forget the belt, let's get those two to scrap it out.

When you lose your title in a controversial split decision your next fight should be for the title, no question.

If Sean wants to wait, that's fine; he's taking a risk either way. If the UFC wants him to fight Whitaker and he loses, he loses his chance at DDP (I say that because he doesn't care about the title shot). However, if he waits, he might get passed up at the next title opportunity.

UFC will book Dricus and Izzy becauae they don't realize Seans star power among people who spend money on this sport. I will not spend a single dollar on their fight, and will throw that money in Sean's direction instead by buying more of his hilariously offensive t shirts. The UFC already did the most embarrassing match making with Costa (ranked #7) first losing to the #3 guy (Wittaker) then getting placed against the #1 guy (Strickland) as the next fight, instead of doing DDP vs Strickland II. If Sean fights and wins against Wittaker the UFC would be out of real contenders and excuses. Everyone knows what's up, the UFC sold out to woke companies and as much as Dana denies it, the employees are all on a leash. This is also why the UFC's first LGBT fighter, Jon Jones, is always treated so well.

He has yet to eliminate Whittaker, even though you could argue Strickland vs Izzy or DDP is more compelling.

Sorry Chael but by your own rules, Sean refused the fight against Whittaker & hasn't "eliminated" him so Whittaker should get the title shot.

I'm not particularly sure why DDP vs Izzy would warrant an immediate re-match. DPP first defense when he won a controversial split decision for the belt not some dominant champion, why would izzy immediately re-match him? If DDP beats izzy and its close Izzy would be 1-3 in his last 4 title fights after taking time off, don't see how an immediate rematch would potentially play out from this outside of a straight up draw. Think it's probably smart for sean to wait however I think the ufc is gonna try to make sean and bobby and enough money sean will probably be like fuck it as long as I'm next.

I agree Sean should definitely be the next guy...i feel like qn immediate rematch between him n DDP should have happened and with easy justification....it was legit either too close to call or Sean was robbed,i hardly ever like to say a fighter was robbed bc of how loosely it's used nowadays butin this case it's true,as I've also stated the first 3 rounds where Sean won,even if ya give Dricus one of em, you can't give him two...he sustained too much eye damage during all three,the damage wasn't done mire in one round than the other really it was accumulated over the three,so no way can you logically credit Sean for just one round on that damage,then what was Dricus' damage back in those first 3??? Definitely not more than what Sean did to his eyes,ppl bring up the amount of strikes and versatility of strikes which matters as much as a fart in the wind, it's damage that counts,the only way Dricus could have had his strikes count more,is if Sean had reacted worse (i.e wincing, staggering etc...) which didn't happen to any significant amount if at all so there's why the rematch should have happened,but UFC is nowadays more concerned with what makes money than merit,which to a degree i get but combat as sport is built around merit, sure certain fights would be entertaining to see but ya gotta have some merit for them, what's the merit for Izzy getn a title shot when his last fight was a 5 round trouncing from Strickland? I had DDP winning 4 rounds to 1 to Sean. I can see it was a close fight but Sean saying he already beat DDP is insane. Dricus beat him, he needs to accept he lost a close fight.

Sean manages his space well. Like Alex Pereira. The difference is Alex's will was far greater than Sean's and that's why he dictated that night and walks everyone including Heavyweights backwards? Sean's style is the same. Walk you down. Put pressure on your opponent. Izzy had a style problem vs Sean. He was being walked back. The only way to win, is fight fire with fire and hold your ground vs those kinds of styles. And Sean will more than likely beat Izzy again, if Izzy doesnt hold his ground. So, you put all the styles together. And Sean matched up easily with Izzy and Du Plessis. Du Plessis looked like he was in a car wreck after fighting Sean Strickland. Sean deserves the next title shot.

Strickland looked terrible, rob took the chimaev fight and got a last minute unheralded dagestani and slept him like nothing. Rob whittaker historically is 1000x better fighter with 1000x better record than strickland. Rob doesnt get it by default but its the most obvious #1 contender i a while.
