What this firefighter is teaching is 10 times more practical valuable and more of a reality than 90 percent of PhD written, presented, published articles! We need more reality instruction/teaching of firefighting operations like this! Great! Thank you! A. Portman (Retired Firefighter, Captain).
I'm a CERT member preparing for my FF support qualification. This was a very helpful video even though I'm never gonna hold a hose or enter a structure. Many thanks!
Back in the mid seventies my family had a contractor started fire Paint removal with outside of contract specifications for the job blowtorch use on a house built in 1880. Insulation shredded newspaper and wood chips behind redwood siding with heavy plaster and lath interior walls.I had a hose in the basement and was able to stop the spread on the cinder block basement wall sill. Local volunteer dept. did a great job tarping and then put the in wall fire out with almost zero in residence area water. 18 inches of plaster on top of full dimension timber with 12" stud spacing stopped the vertical spread. Problem my sister was not evacuated until after the fire was out. Rotating residents in and out of a home can be forgotten under pressure of getting the fire point IDed fire dept. called and to start suppression. She would in the house for a month elsewhere at various other houses then back again. Something to think about.
I really appreciate this guy taking the time to do this video. This job is all about sharing knowledge and experience so we can all be better. He obviously has a good amount of knowledge and experience. I also appreciate a guy who takes his job seriously. I find it a little hard to take him seriously in his flannel and ball cap though. Show your pride and wear a uniform if you're going to bother investing the time to share all this with us, brother. Strong work regardless.
Regardless... of what, your judgment based solely on his attire? I respect him based on his knowledge, not what he thinks is fashionable. I'm sure he keeps his uniform orderly while on duty. Give Justin a break.
Hey Patrick Just so you know its not fashion that gets the job done. Its not fashion that saves lives Knowledge and team work is what gets the job done Knowledge and team work of a fire Department family is what saves lives. So give him a break How much do you know bud So what he has a hat and comfortable shirt on So what big deal. Atleast he knows his stuff and knows what he's doing and saying.
Patrick St Onge This firefighter isn’t trying to promote and sell himself or his ego, but trying to teach a group of firefighters that see uniforms every day of their career how to survive. Practical reality and comfortable presenting content! After 30 seconds I knew he was knowledgeable and credible!
I'm a big fan of making these presentations more comfortable and less stuffy. This is a well done, well thought out, well organized presentation. I don't need to know how many medals he has or what his rank is. He knows his job, no matter his attire. Good job
