Hatfield & McCoy feud-
Asa Harmon McCoy, Randall McCoy's youngest brother and a Union soldier, was shot in 1865 by the Logan Wildcats. The Wildcats were led by Confederate "Devil Anse" Hatfield. Jim Vance (Devils uncle) was the suspected leader in the murder, although there was never a conviction.
We visit the historic marker where he was murdered and go on a search in the rain for his and his wife Martha's.. long lost graves.

My 5th great grandfather Peter Cline, who was born in Reading, PA in 1756, great grandmother, & great uncle Jacob (Rich Jake) Cline are buried there. Peter served in the PA Berks County Militia and 12th PA Regiment during the American Revolutionary War. He fought in the battles of Long Island, White Plains, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine Creek, and Germantown. Considering his military service, it is troubling that he lies there in an unmarked, forgotten grave. If his remains could be identified, I would attempt to have them exhumed and reintured in a National Cemetery. Thank you for posting this video. Bobby J. Cline, Major USMC.

@@kimmy3469 I have myheritage and ancestry the video is based on this. The family story is that Asa Harmon McCoy's wife, Martha Cline, buried her husband in the Cline Cemetery, where her father, mother and grandparents were buried. Martha's parents were, Jacob "Rich Jake" Cline & Nancy Fuller. Martha's brother was Perry Anderson Cline. Martha's grandparents were Peter Cline & Elizabeth Lizzy Riffe. The Old Cline Family graves were moved when the railroad came through Delorme in the late 1800's. The graves were relocated in the present day Delorme Cemetery near the church and railroad crossing.

I’ve seen some disrespectful stuff but for a community to let a cemetery go like that is something out of a third world country. The state should step in and hold the county accountable. Why should a city or town have say so over private property ? The family members of the departed should respect their loved ones and get off their lazy azz and cut the weeds. Then you have nice people that let other people be buried on their property with the intent of the persons family to maintain the upkeep and after decades the family just doesn't care.

@@truthryder8947 most cities and towns do have ordinances regarding property maintenance, they are "public nuisance laws", when property is let grow out of control the city can step in and send a landscaper to clean and cut then send to owner the bill along with a summons to appear in court to answer public nuisance charges.

Thank you, for another interesting video, I subscribed. I hope you find Asia's and Martha's graves one day. You may have walked by them without knowing it. I would think, that the country has enough money to have a crew come in two, maybe three times a year, with weed trimmers, and keep those weeds down. I do not suppose that your family remembers what type of grave markers Asa and Martha had? Do you know what year the cemetery was moved, because of the railroad? One last thing, before I would clean a headstone, I would watch a video about the right way to do it on RU-vid. I have watched a few of them, there is a bit of a process involved. Also, I think permission needs to be obtained from the family, if any are still living, or the cemetery management, if the cemetery has any local management, or the country. Thank you very much again, take care.

@@thehillbillyfiles You are more than welcome. Thank you very much for getting back to me. I wish you well again with finding Asia's and Martha's graves, I really do. The only reason I brought up the subject, is something that I watched on another RU-vid channel, Serenity Sue, have you heard of her? She tours cemeteries and graveyards in Ireland and the U.K. Many of the cemeteries she visits have headstones that are leaning over, bad. I asked her one day, if someone will fix them one day. She told me that to fix a headstone, one would need the family's permission, or be able to prove that there are no longer any living family members. I realize that the legalities over here may be a little different. I just subscribed to your channel, I enjoy watching your videos when I can, I believe in what you are doing. I would just hate to see someone get into trouble inadvertently, so I hope I did not offend anyone. I am now more careful about what I do around headstones myself. Have a great day, and happy Halloween!

It's sad to see a graveyard neglected like this. In Illinois, this is illegal for the most part. Unfortunately, we didn't start regulating cemeteries (through the office of the Comptroller) until 1970. These old gravesites are still found, and many Illinoisans have taken it upon themselves to care for the many abandoned sites, but the thought that nobody cares enough to properly maintain these sites is heartbreaking.

Wish Pennsylvania had that law. My Grandparents cemetery was sold to a man that didn't know it was a cemetery. The weed and fallen trees made it not safe to even get into the cemetery. Finally got the city county historian group to help clean it up. Now they do a once a year clean up. Which helps, but our family still cleans our family area.
@ira1ish

@@SandyD2022 Try working with your State Rep and Senator. Explain to them that the laws governing cemeteries in Illinois are administered by the State Comptroller's office. The regulations have teeth, but because the law was not passed until1970, many cemeteries in Illinois still suffer. It's worth a try. Suggest they model the regulations after what Illinois has. The regulations work.

That my sister was telling about it, and they have added to there list of cemetery that they take care of. This has been a 3 year work in progress. I'm still shaking my head that anyone can buy a cemetery. Guy thought he was going to build on it. But we got taken care of, he would have to move all bodies. I been a sexton for 15 years If you take a little container of lime with you and lightly rub on it you will be able to read it all. No harm at all The lime disapates in a short time lime and the limestone monuments are basically the same material.
