"The rod holder always catches the fish." That reminds me of fishing Rocky Bayou over here in Niceville, early Saturday mornings with my father. I'd bait up using bait shrimp, cut to about a 1/2 inch, cast it, get bored as do most children, turn around, see my little rod with a Zebco 202 bent over double and haul in an 18" Speck. Not to be outdone, dad would pull up a 19" Speck on Choffer (pinfish) and make me cry. LOL GREAT times. Dad's still with us at 91, and would LOVE to take him fishing again.
I grew up in Niceville. Graduated high school in 1983. I sure do miss the Mullet Festival and fishing everyday. Very envious if you still live there. I have tried and tried to relocate there for years, but there just is not that much of my industry located in the area.
@@williamhubbard2996 Pensacola and Mobile are pretty close. Montgomery too. Yeah, you pretty much need to be in the tech world to work around here, mainly for defense contractors at Eglin AFB. '83, huh? We've probably passed by each other at some point. I graduated in '79. I WISH we had had the conservation back then, as we do now. Seems like fish are WAY easier to catch these days, and BOY, how I wish we had the line and rod technology! We had to coax croaker and pinfish into the boats and beach, since mono-filament was dicey at best. That's why I got into spear-fishing. I could pick and choose my dinner. ;-)
@@charlesbennett2626 Yeah, it's a double-edged sword... grateful that he and mom are still here, fearful of losing them. Sorry about your mom and dad. I won't even pretend to know what that feels like. I did lose a brother in '93, so I have at least SOME semblance of what you're going through. Be safe!
that first stop seems to be one of your hot spots for trout and redfish, lots of action.. great vid. Those speckled trout look amazing. Are they Sea trout? We have Sea trout in the UK where they move from fresh water and then travel to salt to feed before returning to spawn, those trout rival the Atlantic salmon for fighting hard.

Brant there is a reason that you have 100,000 subs, in the last 3 months i have watched 1000's of fishing channels videos. I have subscribed to 52 channels so far. I have commented on videos on at least half of those channels, and some of those channels have a lot more sub's than you do. This is the difference and why you will pass most of them {maybe not the one's with mostly naked women in them fishing} is that I have commented on your videos, and you have liked them and commented twice, for every person you have taken the time to do this for it is so appreciated. I might have got 2 likes from the other channels and that's OK. But for me that's what set's you apart from the others and with you content and sharing of information, makes this my favorite channel. Thanks for taking us along, and i hate i was working when this first came out, because i had no chance to be in the top ten, please consider maybe using all who have the correct answer within a certain amount of hours or something, because every one can't watch as soon as you release the video. I'm glad you're catching fish! It's been very slow here the last 2 weeks! Not nearly as many rockfish (stripers) as usual although we are getting some in the 30"-40+" range
Buddy those trout were some nice fish. I’m a meat fisherman so it always hurts me a little to see good eating fish go back. I guess if I lived near the ocean and I could fish when I wanted I could turn some back. Great video Brant
Dang man, I really wouldn't have expected that ToadFish rod to have been able to handle that big red. That was a really nice fish and that rod pulled him right out of the structure.
@@AnglerUpTv I just bought a Dobyn's Champion 7'3" Heavy casting rod and a Shimano Metanium DC that I've been dying to take out, but I haven't had much time outside of work to do anything else. I'm starting to get a little itchy...lol
