One of the most important realizations is that we are not what we seek, but are the one who seeks. We are not the reflections in the mirror, but the mirror itself. Problems in our mind arise because we identify with these reflections. But this seeker, this mirror is free from everything. It is emptiness.

I sat with this not knowing where it was going, but after I realised this talk highlighted some really relevant issues within me in a completely fresh way, particularly in looking at emotions, and also the one who is looking. The analogy of the heaviness of a glass of water, was priceless! I am so happy that by chance I stumbled across this talk, and such a big thank you for Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche for expressing his unique observations on the subject here!

Very important point: [38:46] "So, mindfulness needs some sense of relaxation" Indeed. And if you have trouble relating to 'mindful' but 'relaxed' (like I do) you may find it helpful to substitute 'non-distracted' for 'mindful'.

Or just relaxed attention! Not soldier attention, just 'attending to' in a relaxed way

Rinpoche , in " Rebel Bouddha " , You speak of: " political and social rebels - historical and contemporary , well-known or forgotten - peopple who daught and are fighting for the cause of liberty and justice " ....and the fact that though" they look as heroes in the movie business , in real life , they make people nervous , they're hard to push aside . They keep coming back with questions no one esle will ask . They won't settle for partial truths or uncertain answers ..;" so don't you think that to succeed , this rebels need to repeat over and over the same thoughts and patterns as to succeed in their political , and social issues ? Someone like Howard Zinn , daring telling the FBI members hiding among peaceful demonstrators : " don't you see that you're violating the spirit of Democracy by acting as the secret police of a totalitarian state ? civil disobeidience is to upset people to trouble them " ..;and ended up being beaten up badly by the obedient policemen ( who asked him to excuse them before doing it to him ! ) and he was taken away by police his T-shirt in pieces and covered with his blood : that's very courageous ! ...But people must have habitual patterns to not give up such fights .On the other hand , how Peaceful the World will be , if U.S leaders minds were free of their habitual paranoïa and obsession of seeing " enemis " " aliens " and " terrorists " everywhere that lead them to be accused today by all engineers and architects in the country and throughout the world of having premeditated the fall of the 3 towers of the World Trade Center on 911 and the wars that followed and are still not over in which millions of people lost their lives , though they protect one an other for not being accountable .....and how much American people should unite today to prevent the elections of these two pre-selected oligarch candidates by people in power , the citizens-electors are " free" to elect " Democratically " ......after their own candidates can't even participate to public debates , a Law professor at Yale such as Larry Lessig who explained so well about " Tweedists " making the pre-selections and lesters knowing which button to press as to get financial support, is certainly not capable to debate with a Donald Trump or an Hillary Clinton ! ...Tough it is true that mind is an empty luminous space ....devoïed of such troublemakers politicians are on the ultimate level : tomorrow they'll be gone ....and other twisted mind rotten politicians will act exactly as they do for the very same personal interests .

... and at a deep moment in a dark night. who comes to mind? Of course, Snickers and EverFresh. Mt Everest ... as best we can say ... exists. Gravity ... as we can talk about such ... is simply true. Kagyu ... like the rainbow ... is is is is is ... --KC: p.s. _"Come down, come down! Come back down!"_ Even that I couldn't trust. My yuppie cohort has corrupted / commodified everything, Rinpoche. Existential fact. *_Mangalam!_*

Google = advertising company. This is the source of much suffering therefore anyone interested in raising awareness and reducing suffering like Rinpoche probably also sees the evil of companies like Google (including youtube) and fundamentally disagrees with what google has already done up to now and plan to do in the future. I sensed Rinpoche wanted and sort of did express this in a very gentle way.

Rinpoche would say there is no such thing as evil companies. There are only evil thoughts, which arise in the mind that is ignorant of its own reality..

So endlessly wordy and conceptual! The title made me think he was going to directly point to True Nature, but instead an endless web of words. Boring
