Been searching this morning to see how to make better use of the cargo box I have and how to fix that stuck LOCK - Can't even get my cylinder to turn! Thanks for the help on removing and maybe saving the lock.
Yes, at first my cylinder can't even so lots of WD-40 and lightly working it back and forth and eventually it turns. But still have to drill the rivets then clean out the inside rust. Thanks for the comment and good luck with yours.

Hello, I've lost the key. It's locked. Is there such a thing as a universal key? Mine is about as old as yours. It's in very good shape. Assuming I can open it, I'd like to sell it. Do you know how much they sell for? My brand is Thule and approximately the same size as yours, (maybe a bit bigger). I saw that a new one costs $700-1000. Thank you.
Can you replace cylinder on this lock? I have the same cargobox with lock broken. Trying to figure out if I can extract cylinder and replace it. Do you remove it with lock open or closed?
The answer is yes but you got to get the cylinder in the unlock position (which means you got to have the key in the cylinder), remove the C clip on the back side of the lock then the whole cylinder will come out. Thanks for the comment and good luck! 👍
Thanks for prompt response! For some reason it won't come out in unlock position with C clip removed. but lock is damaged from the inside. Do you have a picture of the core when you took it out? @@tick_go5989
Ya know what sucks, I think my lock broke, when I put the key in and twist it back and forth there is no resistance. It's locked and FULL to the bring with my stuff. I can't drill cuz I will damage things inside, I have no idea how to get this damn thing open! :(
Hi, mine had no resistance either so I don’t think your is broke. You just have to carefully drill it out and see. As you have stuffs in there I would just carefully drill and not to let it go in deep. The main thing is to popped the head off the rivet or maybe a small Dremel cutoff wheel might do the trick. @@tick_go5989 Thanks! I gave it another try and I gave it a good wack on the top and it popped open LOL, I think I put so much stuff in it that the plastic was bowing outward making it hard to open and align the lock. I was moving and running out of cargo space! Thanks!
