Good idea but bolt cutters will have this cut in .03 seconds

I have a '90s-era Sears X-Cargo (white lid with a gray base)... anyone remember those?! From the factory, there was no place to put a lock on it. I believe Sears sold an add-on lock once upon a time, but I didn't care to try and find one. I riveted a pair of Master padlock eyes to it on the right side (the hinges are on the left). Then I just put a padlock on it.

I would have put a flat washer on the inside of the box so that the rivet presses on that and spreads out the load to a larger area of plastic so as to lessen the chance of cracking and plastic or pulling the rivet through. Have you had any issues with leaks during heavy rain?

I have seen reviews of people using anything flat to open the lock. Can you confirm? Seems like those locks are for infants and toddlers.

Anybody can cut easily this thin wire.

I would have stuck this on the INSIDE of the box. Letting enough slack to just crack open the box enough to slip in a key and a hand that can locate the lock!
