Its sad to see these old veterans so rusty. I used to drive them when I worked in agriculture and horticulture. I remember reading about a ferry that left Holyhead in the 1951 storm and it was not long before they sending out an SOS. A lifeboat launched in a force 8 gale and did pick up survivors. Their courage overwhelms me also the radio operator who apparently was still sending out SOS as the ferry sank, they found his body the following day.
Fascinating video. Amazing how your interests parallel mine: boats, woodworking, blacksmithing, gardening, leatherworking, architecture, history, etc. Always look forward to your posts. Cheers!
If you are ever up in Redcar, Yorkshire they also have tractors pulling the boats from the beach. They have wonderful lifeboat museum there. We visited there from the U.S. a couple years back.
