Also a little bit of info, the crystallization that Annie's titan does isn't ice it's called hardening, just a hardened layer of armor that she can use. Can't wait for you to see season 2, despite it being only 12 episodes, it's densely packed with lore, a little fast paced, but fantastic.

If you forgot they trained with each other for about 3 years or so. Even if it wasn’t shown, I’m sure they built a strong enough relationship with each other for Eren’s feelings to make sense.
In the manga, the cadet training arc was a lot longer and we got to see that Eren would basically train with Annie in combat every day, so they became proper friends. The same goes for most of the 104th, everyone in the top 10 along with others like Armin were friends for 3 years and spent every day with each other. Obviously Eren, who is led by his heart, would create strong friendship and comrade bonds and so is in denial that one of his friends could betray humanity in such a way.

A few notes for season 1. - The waiting time for viewers from the end of season 1 to the start of season 2 was ~3.5 years - There is an after credits scene that is ~1 minute long after episode 25. Any episode that does not have the "To Be Continued..." black screen has an end credits scene. - The 'ice' that Annie is in is actually a mineral/crystal, like quartz and so will not be melting. *Sequence of events:* Trial of Eren, custody granted to survey corps and objective is to retake wall Maria. The two captive titan research subjects from the Trost battle are killed(means there are traitor(s) in the group). All gear inspected for signs of use(Annie uses Marco's gear to pass the check but Armin notices that it is Marco's gear not hers). Brief amount of seeing how Eren's power functions(no major practice) before their mission starts. Thus it is still thought of as a real risk to use as he could go berserk again like with the boulder in Trost. Erwin gives his recruitment speech including revealing the possibility of answers in the basement of Eren's old home. Trainee cadets(rest of Eren's group) pick where they want to be assigned. Annie chooses the Military Police and leaves for the capital. Eren reunites with his friends and learns of Marco's death. Mission into the giant forest(Brass thinks it's to retake the wall but Erwin wants to flush out the traitor(s) in their group first.) Female titan kills a lot of people and gets away, mission seen as a failure by the Brass. Eren is to be handed over to the Military Police for study/death like they wanted in the trial. Erwin is to face the consequences of his failed mission, both are summoned to the capital along with the survey corps being put on hold for a bit. Erwin and group discuss how it is possible that Annie is the female titan based on her behavior in the field and Armin's information. They decide to use being in the capital to get Annie trapped again or at least reveal herself. This is their best/only chance to do this as Eren will die if they do nothing. Jean is handed over in place of Eren since few know exactly what he looks like. Annie slightly damages the wall with hardened fingers and toes while trying to escape, she then encases herself in the same hardened material to keep herself from being interrogated/killed by anyone. She is placed far underground by the survey corps.
My Highlights: 0:13 : you would be suprised at how many reactors blow past this sudden Annie transition. You being even the slightest bit observant about the cinematography gave it away immediately. Still a huge shock when you see it, because its different than assuming it. Very similar to what Eren goes through in his head this arc. 4:28 : Just a small correction, Eren needs to escape from the military police capitivty because after the last arc, the narrator (Armin) says that the MP's took custody of Eren after the disastrous 57th expedition. 7:30 : real shit bro 😂 9:06 : i never heard of this interpretation thats so good 😂 "thanos her" also all those people fuckin got disintegrated by the titan transformation. 11:40 : i know you probably didnt didnt remember from the last arc but Captain Levi broke his ankle fighting the female titan, particuarly effecting his mobility, 16:08, haha you kind of remembered. 17:08 : so much good development for Jean-Jean 17:51 : probably yes, but if you were to look at it technically, the blonde man with the strong sense of smell near Erwin named Miche (Americanized to Mike) was declared "only second to Captain Levi" by Hange. I suppose that was before Mikasa joined the scouts, but I just wanted to provide this overlookable tidbit. 20:33 : "Don't try to keep your hands clean! The world is cruel!" 23:44 : nuanced Eren? No way! 24:32 : I like your reaction to this. Geunine horror of Erwin's actions and shows how even great people we look up to in the show ( Erwin) are not necessarily stereotypical "good guys" 26:35 : yeah i really got no way to explain this, from the scalding body to the eye color change. Complete mystery to me 27:59 -29:01 : this whole part just goes so hard. From the music, to the quotes, to the tense action and finally Levi pulling up skrrt at the end. Great season finale. 32:45 : Armin is so intelligent of the world around him that he has become cynical in turn. 33:57 : im sure that other people will be commenting it, hell im sure you will be spammed with it, but you missed the end credit scene. Also something to definitely note going forward if you want to keep the end credit scenes a suprise: if an episode DOES NOT end with "To be Continued..." with the grey screen, then there is an after credit scene. Hope this helps you going forward. Lastly a fun fact that other people will probably comment. Season 1 ended in 2013, and Season 2 finally released in 2017; making anime only fans wondering what happened for 4 years! How grateful we should be for binge watching TV! Ok, I thought you'd be watching the OVAs released between seasons 1 & 2 but I guess that could wait. There's just that one Hange-centered OVA (Ilse's Notebook) that loses its impact after about S2 E5. Annie has her own 2-part OVAs. Explains how she got out unnoticed by her MP superiors during the Female Titan arc plus her side adventures.Contains Season 3 spoilers though so might want to schedule all 3 Lost Girls OVA together later on. A lot of viewers misinterpret that the missing miner dug a hole beside wall Sina for 20 years when he actually just did it in about a day or two. The sentence just said it was the best excavation he made in the 20 years of his mining career. Also... DON'T STOP WATCHING until you see TO BE CONTINUED. You missed the post-credit why the episode was titled "The Wall". 😂
