I'm also a High Functioning Autistic young adult myself that said, Reid has been through alot, He went through a dilaudid addiction after facing an unsub that caused him PTSD, he went through the staged death after Emily Prentiss, and now Maeve's death it was really hard but he is loved and will always be loved by the BAU even his fans, although I was a little upset that there was never a chance that Reid and JJ at least tried to pursue a relationship but Reid and JJ now knew about how they feel for each other and that's all that matters.

While I feel like Reid could potentially have savant type autism - which is generally the only type of autism in media, that or an offensive portrayal - it’s not a definite thing. Many of his characteristics can overlap with other disorders or just personality traits. I have three siblings with autism of varying placements on the spectrum. Younger twin sisters, one with profound autism and minimally verbal, another high-functioning, and an older brother with Asperger’s (now included under ASD.) They’re all drastically different, but all my siblings initiate hugs with people they’re comfortable with - mainly my youngest sister, she’s very tactile and affectionate - it’s just not constant, but then again, who constantly hugs? Idk if that helps? Yes, everyone on the spectrum is different.
