Coming out end of november, with a lvl cap so they can work through things, is such as good idea to hop onto the excitement bandwagon - its close enough for players like me to remember it's coming and resubscribing
Thanks man, I was really eager to put this video out, regardless of the scuffed environment and sleep deprivation haha. I want to improve the content quality a lot more though as we go into this new adventure!
I would have preferred a classic+ approach that starts with vanilla as the base to build onto, although I appreciate the reimagination of existing content - I'm not sure what to make of the talent changes. I'm afraid it will completely shake up the dynamics that make classic great to me.
its just a seasonal server, i have no doubt in my mind this is just a teaser of a full fledged classic+ xpac. also this gives them a chance to just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. i think the runes are sick but if theyre negatively recieved overall theyll probably axe them later on.
@@caretheis6779 Hence why they will be asking the community what they like and what they do not like and will build of fwhat the community wants to continue.
@@caretheis6779 is there a contractual obligation for them to shut off this server, just because they call it a season? imo they could just keep doing this once we hit 60 - maybe not in the same cadence (caps opening up in "weeks" not months) but with a structure of content patches every two to 3 months. so I'm not confident in saying that this ISN'T classic+
I'm actually really interested in this, especially getting Metamorphosis back for my warlock (gd demon hunters stole one of our coolest abilities!). I never thought *anything* would tempt me back to official WoW again, but this ... this just might. At least for a month or two. Let us know what Season of Discovery server you'll be on -- I'd love to play with you!
I'm really happy to see that you're considering coming back! The way I see it, this is a no-loss situation for players. If it turns out well, then great! If not, we always have private servers to rely on. I will absolutely be sharing the server I'll be playing on once they're announced. I just need to figure out what I'm going to play first!
@@vulgrin9573 I"m totally going with Warlock. It looks like Metamorphosis will work the same way it did in Pandaria (which was amazingly fun!) so I'm really looking forward to it! I hope you'll pick Horde -- Forsaken's the best race for Warlock by far.
I'm so hyped! Personally i dunno how i feel about rune engravings, it intresting for sure. I gues we will find it out how they work in-game. It will enchance the end game experience, but i'm a bit worried, that the leveling will be somewhat easier, but if they manage to pull it off, then it will be the future of WoW! Class "changes" what i've seen so far: Rogue (my main): Assassination gets Multilate and Envenom. This is my favorite spec through out WoW history. It always suffered one way or another, but i loved it! Combat gets Blade Dance, which i think will be Killing Spree or Shadow Dance. Intresting. Sub gets Shadow Strike, which is an enchanced version of Shadow Step. Essentially the same, except it will generate 1 combo point and does damage. In addition to that it also get Slaughter from Shadow, i might be wrong, which will reduce the backstab's energy cost, which will allow us to not use Hemorhage, by that saving up 1 or 4 points of talent point, but i've only seen the icon, so it's not confirmed. Shuriken Toss: Which i think it will be some kind of ranged slow. Quick Draw: It can be anything. Another poison? Rogue tank buff: Hell fuckin yeah! It's a dodge tank, although i don't think it will be spectecular in raiding, but it's a welcomed addition for sure! Paladin: (Alt) Holy: I didn't really see enough, but i think they get Beacon of Light or an aoe heal. Prot: they get a taunt BABY! Ret: Finally you can play as a dps, they get a new seal and Crusade strike. It seems that they have to change seals for increased performance. Mage: Arcane: They get ARCANE BLAST. It might be the go to spec for raiding early on! Arcane surge will be an execute, where you have to spend all of your mana and it does damage based on how mana use have. It will be so fuckin op in PvP. I don't like this ability though. Fire: Get Living Bomb and another skill which gives you 15% increased critical chance. I dunno about this one. Frost: Gets Fingers of Frost; Icy Veins and Icy Lance. Healer: What i've seen so far it looks like it will be a offensive semi-heal setup. What i mean about this is you'll deal damage and heal at the same time based on your damage done(?) Warrior: Prot: Gets Devestate and maybe an aoe taunt? Fury: Get Victory Rush Arms: I don't remember i think get Wrecking Blow? Shaman: Elemental: They get Lava Burst redesigned Enchanment : Gets Dual Wielding. Restoration Gets an AoE healing, which moves? Additionally they get Earth Shield, Tank: You get a buff, which will allow you taunt with Earth Shock. It will be a block tank. Interesting! Priest: Disc: Gets Penance Holy: Gets Circle of Healing? I don't remember Shadow: Get Homoculus, which is similar to Mirror Image, you summon 3 clones of yourself, but they'll auto-attack Druid: Feral: Gets Windfury That's the only thing i know Warloclk: Affi: Gets Haunt and by this confirming, that they'll get rid of debuff slots, so dot classes able perform incredible well! Demo: Gets Metemorphosis, which is a pernament form like Durid Bear form. It will increase your armor value by 500%, which is great given the fact that they can only equip cloth armor. Searing Pain will be instant cast. Shadow Bolt will be a cleave. They get a charge and a taunt. Dude i'm so excited about this!!! it reminds me of Warcraft 3, when Illidan transformed, after drinking the blood. The gameplay with him as well, cuz he was so tanky. Hyped about this! Destro: Gets Chaos Bolt, which you'll not gonna be able to miss; resist; it goes to absorbtion. It always land. It's the ultimate healer killer. Disc Priest bubble? No promblem. I kinda concerned a bit, cuz i might not be able to vanish from it, since it always land. Hunter: Only thing i know they get Explosive shot, which is my favorite ability from the Hunter's tool kit. BFD raid: Awesome low level raid! This can show new players, how end game looks like, what a raid looks like. They get the niece experience of it! This is a insanely good step ahead! World PvP Events: Essentially "Alterac Valley" in Ashanvale. Dude I ALWAYS wanted something like this. World PvP is huge part of Classic and they manage to enchance it! WoW, that was a nice surprise. Dual Spec: It would be so nice to have! Overall: I like that fact, that certain classes are available in PvE now, like Assassination Rogue; Feral Druid; Arcane Mage; Ret Paladin; Prot Paladin; Elemental Shaman; Balance Druid; Survival Hunter; Shadow Priest. New content is always welcomed addition! My doubts would start with the Rune Engraving system. it might shake up the game and make it more stream rolled. I like the idea of class specific abilities are added, so the other specs can shine, but it might overkill the game itself and the leveling proccess. We shall see in the end. It's a different approach what i was excpeted, but it might WoW great again. Metzen talked about the upcoming three expansions and i think they're building up the end game. Sargeras and Burning Legion are no more. Lich King and the Scourge along with the Jailor are gone. The void got a massive loss, by losing every enslaved elemental; dragons and their old gods. The three major evil are gone: Death; Chaos; Void. Essentially i think Anduin will sacrifice himself. They trying to building it up. After we defeat the nerubians, we shall face the void invasion or titans go mad and try to butcher Azzeroth like how Sargeras turned evil; The last one will be about Sargeras or Azzeroth itself. Then they might reset WoW. It might be Classic+, but they said it will be a 20 year project, even if it's not one expansion usually takes 2 years, so it will be 6 years, by that time we would already have Classic+.
imagine Season of discovery outpaces Cata classic in terms of players... to me the fact that it's "SEASON" of discovery is meant to classify these servers as some silly experimentation. Imagine the "tried and true" of re-releasing Cata getting outshone by that
@@alistairbolden6340 sure, and anyone who downloads it shows that they don't want to play the game. Developers shouldn't develop only based on what addons/strategy guides will change the experience into - that's how you get retail... Blind playthroughs are a thing and you not participating says more a out your approach to playing a game and your fear of being "suboptimal" more than the quality of the game.
@@DaniDaDevil iirc ascension made other skills available for all classes along with custom skills. Thats not quite what this is. That is literally saying that league of legends is Dota(the one run in wc3 lobbies) ... they're similar... but they're not the same.
I am not yet completely sold on that rune system with too much copy paste abilities without change from other expansions, but the level cap and new dungeons and raids is what I want so much to see.
I genuinely think they will. People are complaining that they seem to just be focusing on class development and not on content additions, but they made it clear their intention is to complete the "unfinished" Vanilla stuff, showed Kara etc. Hyjal is pretty high up on that list so I'd be amazed if it's not one of the first places introduced at 60!
i actually like blizzards approach here. they’re going to use abilities that already exist, slowly raise level cap to gauge interest and comments, and allow private servers to continue impatiently pushing content so they have to do less work when it’s time to add the new raids and dungeons
I wouldn't call it Plus per se what with it being seasonal but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I've been dying for the next season and I'm hyped! I'll definitely make a playthrough as well and hopefully get family or friends to play. As a warlock main for the past 4 years of Classic, I'm gonna enjoy having metamorphosis in the vanilla world.
This 99999999% Classic + my Birthday is nov 30 I feel like blizzard just gave me a birthday present. Not gonna lie Before blizzcon I was honestly kind of thinking of just while quetting wow I've been playing the game four 19 yers but. Now IM SO hyped Not just for the season but CATA AND THE WAR BELOW Everything they announced this blizcon looked amazing. Although I really kind of wish they had mentioned what all they were changing with cata Because sod Just kind of killed any potential hype cata Could have had. Either way I am extremely excited for this I'm already thinking of classes i'm going to level.
This will be awesome, cant wait to play Prot Pala in Classic with Taunt and maybe have a weird alt . I cant wait for this, gonna start it with few friends.
Honestly I’m not sure I’m liking the idea of SoD. I was hoping for Classic+ to be more like Turtle WoW and instead we got something more like Ascension WoW. Basically meaning this version of Classic+ is less about adding dungeons, raids, and quests without altering the gameplay much, this version alters the gameplay significantly and isn’t add that same bulk of new content like quests, dungeons, and raids
I can see why you'd take that view and honestly I much prefer the Turtle WoW style of content addition to Ascension. I liked Ascension when I played it, but saw it as a bit of a gimmick, whereas Turtle felt like Classic+ in the sense of building additional content in the style of the vanilla game. With that being said, like I say in the video - this is just the beginning. I think their goal is to get the systems they want in game first and then to add more original content later like dungeons and raids!
@@vulgrin9573 Yeah that’s very true, I really hope that if they actually start adding new zones and dungeons and stuff that they don’t stay in a seasonal server forever and eventually find their way to era realms. I’m really hoping you’re right and they start adding serious new content to the game. I don’t have any desire to play SoD due to the gameplay changes, but I’m still hoping for it to introduce cool new content that will turn into what we consider true Classic+ in the future.
I really really wish they took more of a turtle wow approach then an ascension approach. I feel like all this over the top changes are gonna be just like retail
11:50 the only thing is - I like the ability to check what bosses drop what loot, to inform where I want to do instanced content .... other than losing that, not having a ptr seems to have no downsides (sure some bosses may be stupidly easy, some mechanics able to be exploited ... but that is fun)
I like most of the world stuff like zone events and leveling content. I don't like the runes however, brings alot of retail talents to classic (the biggest reason I play classic and not retail)
im cautiously optimistic. not sure about dual specs as classic/vanilla represents more R in mmoRpg, and specs helped with identity. many of the other changes seem good though
I completely agree about the need to keep the role-playing and identity at the core of class design, though I like the agility of a good paladin being able to perform multiple roles if needed by his friends, for example. I think that can add a satisfying level of expertise which will allow good players to shine!
What a great video. You explain your thoughts in a calm and eloquent manner about the new direction Blizzard is taking with wow classic. This is much appreciated!
I'm so hyped for SoD, always enjoy the leveling phase in classic because it's an adventure itself especially on pvp servers that I hope will be available in SoD as well. Capping at 25 in first time is such a massive genuine idea, it will allow people to discover new features, different gameplay and decide which class to main without feeling guilty of 'being late in comparison to the rest of the server' It also will allow to find groups quite easily I'm also huge fan of the runes to customize your class and adapt to some situations. Of course I guess there will be things to rework, there always is, but my god what a start this is. I haven't been that hyped by wow content in decades.. Thanks for the video, it is a great recap and you're pointing really well the interrogation we might have and reasons why we are so hype as well. Rascarkapac
first time I've been excited for something from blizzard in around 10 years. I really hope they aren't afraid to experiment with a lot of stuff for seasonal content, since it's seasonal, it's the perfect place to experiment. I've been seeing a lot of people complain that "it's just going to become retail 2" if they keep making changes like this "it's a slippery slope" and such. but, let me point out something important, Vanilla WoW also made changes and eventually became the retail version it is today, but changes that happened on the way there got us WOTLK, arguably one of the best mmo expansions ever. so changes CAN be good, so lets all see how this turns out.
I’m sure this was last minute for blizzard and that’s part of the reason for the level cap. I’m glad they’re doing it though. Paladins were supposed to have crusader strike in vanilla and they took it away. Now it’s back.
I think my only real concern is that a lot of the runes, look extremely powerful. I'm somewhat worried about them trivializing the open world content due to the extra damage they provide. Otherwise, this feels like a Classic Plus Alpha, which is acceptable.
I expect there will be balancing over the first few weeks and I reckon they'll make each new installment of levels more difficult to scale with it. I can't imagine a world where they're letting level 40 players one-shot mobs in winterspring for example
Kind of inevitable if you want to make stuff like moonkins and retribution paladins work out in the long run. But then again my first character was a mage that I AoE level grinded so depending on your viewpoint some open world content was always ez.
Devs discussed this in a wowhead interview and said if they need to because of this, they will tune the world so it balances out and isn’t a cake walk with the new spells
Im super hyped! Im gonna start with an aggo hpal, then do mm/bm hunter, rdruid that dips into balance spells, and disc priest. One thing is more clear than ever and it's that you can't make wow players happy.
I've been thinking about what class to play in SoD. Been thinking about it ever since the announcement and I am still undecided. I hope this will be as good as I think it will be in my head.
As someone who's played the game since 2005, I can say that this will definitely be a huge bonus and something that I would really look forward to. I didn't expect this from Blizzard. Not only do we get to play Vanilla, but now with cool bonuses. I am just hoping that they don't make everything super easy to attain like in the later xpacs. From what i've seen so far i don't want to make conclusions just yet, but i think that this is the Vanilla that we all wanted, but let's see. I'm definitely hyped for this and i think it's time to return to the game.
man Blizzconn was a huge W accross the board maybe even in a year we can get announcments for sc3 and wc4 and heroes etc Microsoft just took control so it will take time.
I always thought that BlizzCon 2023 was make or break for the company, either a good start for the future or a slow death over the next 10 years. It looks like they're making a stand, I hope it works out!
It’s such a shame that it’s seasonal only. If I knew that the server would be around for years then I’d be really hyped. They also need to do something about the bots and gold sellers. Either way, this has nothing to do with Classic. It should be called Retail Era or something
This is absolutely not classic in any way shape or form. They removed 80% of classics content and lowered the level. Classic+ is built off the end game of what classic already is. Not lvl 25 bs lmao. Imagine OSRS coming back in 2013 but Jagex locked skills to 40/99 for 3-4 months and then raised it to 50/99 nobody would have played osrs when it came out and it would have died instantly. But look at osrs thrive today. A 2007 version of the game just improved over time. No remaking the whole early game or limiting skills. They just released the game as is from 2007 and made it better in every way over time. Blizzards discovery absolutely will die out VERY fast. At least from classic Era players view. Because this discovery has zero to do with classic
Short answer - YES, this is exactly what Classic should be and NO, everyone will not be happy about it- because classic in everyone eyes is different. But to bad to sad. This is awesome- and I am hyped!!
You're totally right. NOTHING they announced would ever please everyone. All they could ever do is try out their own idea of Classic+ and see what people think. My hope is that they now listen to the feedback they receive, ignore the pointless whining and implement good tuning and pruning to keep the systems working well!
100% disagree. Mage healers and rogue tanks? It doesn't get any more retail than that. The reason why classic is so great is each character is unique and so different from the other. Yes to new raids but making every class overpowered and one shot mobs is another retail thing. Really happy they're not calling yet classic Plus because that would insult the classic community.
It is Classic content with a twist, the formula being played around with, additional original content to be added and class tweaks to make them playable... Which sounds like Classic+ Which I think is neat. Without putting a spin on it, Classic+ would have essentially been TBC without Outland as that expansion has mostly set the focus on making every class/spec viable and desirable in each raid or dungeon with actual loot to get (Looking at the prot pally in particular here). And I'm not sure if people really want a diet coke TBC. How they will balance the runes will be interesting though. Ferals will have a very strong damage output with a windfury aura. Paladins chime in with divine storm and 25% spiritual attunement and warriors.... well, their runes also look insane. Too much plays into aoe and cleaving though so I'm sceptical but as far as we know, without all the mana sustain mechanics of retail so who knows how strong divine storm or arcane blast on OOM paladins and mages really is going to be. On top are a few nice plays to make other classes do other tasks such as the new tanks and healers. This is some insane power-creep so I hope that they adjust raid tiers accordingly. Maybe even converting down current 20 and 40 raids to 10 and 25, respectively with minor tweaks could be funny but we'll see. The game should retain the danger one can stumble into when not paying attention. It looks like they're throwing everything against the wall and see what sticks. But this also means what we have always wanted in the Classic community: Active development. This inevitably means patches, tweaks, updates, content releases etc. And playing my feral will be more fun than ever. Keeping a buff up (savage roar), keeping debuffs up (rip + mangle), while juggling two resources (energy + mana) through perfect seal twisting like timing (powershifting) of course only with the correct preparations to supply all the mana needed through consumes and the odd trinket. We didn't have a true rotation before but dang. And this is without the Wrath glyphs so no extend timers as well. The difference in the output between rookies and experts at handling this will be insane and I will be looking forward to it. .... also in getting the Deadmines or Wailing Caverns set that could actually matter for once.
I agree it would be interesting as a seasonal thing like osrs does with league. But i really wish they did something like turtle wow and just build on classic without changing everything. Like adding cut content new races maybe some new abilities but without destroying class identity
@@Jarl_egbert i hear ya bro, i just can’t click with retail since wotlk. Idk why but i just don’t feel the point of playing when i play retail. And these days i only enjoy classic i couldn’t get into wotlk classic or tbc classic
I'm so fuckin amped that they didn't just go 1-60 "same" 60+ "New stuff" Having it get new stuff from the start gives up so many opportunity for great content!
SOD sounds exciting to me. The only thing I'm sceptical about and dislike is the class role expansion. By making everyone do multi role, it takes away that special thing specific classes have.
No.. but I'm intrigued, hyped but also worried. I'm worried that they're gonna make us overpowered with runes and turn leveling into easy mode and boring - like retail. I'm worried they getting rid of unique classes, all can tank, all can dps and all can heal - like retail. Wow token when? Boosts when? I think long term it could turn into classic plus, but it could also turn into retail. Time will tell
An insightful opinion. I agree that things could go either way depending on how they react to the feedback of players. They need to be prepared to recognise that certain class/role combos, or other features they introduce may simply break the game or prove unpopular and they need to be ready to take action to prevent that from festering
It will be the first time in nearly 20 years that we go into "Classic" Azeroth and dont know literally every secret in the world. This is gonna be awesome! And I think its just the tip of the iceberg.
Its just impossible to please everyone, all those classic- comments and this is just retail. In my opinion this is just what classic + should be class balancing, new content, and new take on lvling
People only say classic - to get clicks. Bunch of fake streamers also doing this. Remember negative comments get views! This is easily the best thing they have done in a very long time.
If you ask 10 people to explain WoW Classic + , you will get 10 quite different answers, everyone has their own take what they want it and what they dont. This looks amazing, i think it will be seasonal in a sense that you will be able to continue with your character, rather than creating a new one.
I sometimes get disheartened whenever I create a video and there is inevitably a range of comments implying that if you don't agree with the poster, you're an idiot who has never played Classic. The truth is, nothing Blizzard ever announced would please everyone. Sometimes that's because the content is polarising, but often its simply because many jaded players aren't willing to actually try something before they knock it! I agree that this sounds like a good project from Blizz and I'm eager to find out if it works in practice!
I’m pretty skeptical about the “mage healer” still, I’m not sure how a targeted alter time is going to cut it with healing a group but I could be totally wrong. The potential for raids in some these 5 man dungeons is huge though and has me excited enough to at least renew my sub for a month
Think its designed more as an off healer? If you cant find a healer for a 5man use a few mages to off heal ya know? Same with the tank specs I think its more of an off tank so you can have a rogue or shaman off tank if you can't find a group. It might be a lil op in PvP tho
You could hear the skepticism in the crowd once they announced it. However, I think after the deep dive it was pretty clear… this seems like a launch board to what will eventually be “classic +”. And the only reason I say SOD ISNT classic + is because it’s not really released in a finalized “expansion” format - both content wise and spiritually as well. We don’t NEED a level cap increase, 5 new raids, and a new continent to call something an expansion. But, we do need a concrete set of ideas to venture forth with for me to consider it an expansion, and this isn’t it. This is Classic+ PTR and I really hope blizzard takes full advantage of that by finding systems that really work well for the game and maintain the feeling of what it means to play classic WoW. Really loved your take. Happy to see you almost hitting that 10k mark. Keep going my friend.
Classic+ .... What if!?.... What if a hunter could tank or heal based on the pet they used. What if a a priest could tank based on the off-hand they use. What if a.......... that's the point of Discovery. Why stop @ 25? So that the "What if" can evolve over the further segments or level caps. I am excited to see how WoW can evolve from what this SoD will unveil.
A true Classic+ means a complete restart and a lot of people simply wont be happy with that, a half assed Wrath+ will fail shortly after launch as you can not add new items into a buggered economy or the rich get richer and people will be buying wow tokens left and right to keep up with the new BoE's. Classic+ on a seasonal server just makes sense and it allows the progression from wrath to cata to continue as normal.
I think that keeping the level 25 cap as well helps with the boosting problem. People aren't going to be so bothered about paying for boosts if they can hit the "max" level in a matter of one or two days without even needing to no-life it.
Haha I feel you man. The combat footage in this vid was recorded some months ago, but I will make a personal promise to you that enemy bars will be enabled for the SoD playthrough! ;)
This is 100% a season in the truest sense. There are a lot of people who will not play this simply because they don't like the idea of seasonal content since it goes against what is one if the most solid reasons for people playing an MMO which is permanence in character growth and progress. As seasonal content, this means that this reason for playing an MMO is gone due to character wipes. Imagine some people play the season and then an announcement goes out that they're now going to make it permanent and continue to add to it. Everyone who, understandably, did not want to play this because it was shown and told to be seasonal would be left at the starting line while everyone else would already be atop the mountain. It would be laughably unfair, especially since this has been called a season repeatedly by blizzard themselves. I do hope and think that this is indeed an experiment for adding new content into a true classic plus somewhere down the line.
Greet video. I disagree about not being hung up on this being labeled a season. I think they wanted to do this in the bounds of a season so if they do mess up or people get burnt out on some things they can hit the reset. I do agree that anything that is very well received in this version will probably end up in some version of classic plus though. This is also why I’m ok with the xp boost between level bands. I don’t think boosted xp would be good in classic plus but it’s fine in a seasonal setting.
I agree about the xp boost. Ultimately people are going to get to level 25 in a day with ease if they push it, there's no need for people to get hung up on others catching up more quickly in that environment, it's not the same as all endgame being at 60. I personally love the idea of trying to make out a character, especially one with some new role combinations - just through content available at 25, it's a cool concept.
SoD really sounds a lot like Ascension, but I'm encouraged to see what happens. This Blizzcon is the first time I've felt hope since 2019, prior to which it was at least 6 years. I really hope they honor the game we all love so much the way it deserves, but I'm worried the current crop of Blizz employees simply won't be able to pull it off. Let's hope I'm wrong.
On the point of calling it a season. I would agree. I truly believe this will be ongoing and seasons will not wipe characters but simply increase the level cap with a new core mechanic each season.
I would've much preferred a Classic+ that isn't a temporary gamemode, but the new content presented and teased looks GOOD. The seasonal model just feels very antithetical to vanilla's design philosophy, especially with the level gating and xp boosts. I want a classic+ where the content isn't rotting every 3 months, but this is a great start.
The hype for a classic plus version of WoW is fairly recent and perhaps may not last forever. I think blizzard wanted to react quickly and propose something t the player while the demand is high, rather than waiting another year and risk failure. Beside, i think it's smart to focus on game mechanics and classes gameplay first, this is the basic of any MMO. Additional content, new zones, new dungeon, new raid can come later. I just hope we won't stay more than a few months at level 25. Ideally they would increase the level cap to 40 in February or March.
Would like to see racial trait trees. Maybe 25 points in total, 15 points deep, different racial abilities in each tree, could only get one major racial. Trees and the traits would be based on race and what classes can that race play.
Discovery kinda blindsided me. I just didn’t think it was likely given how much easier doing classic cata is. And I figured it was one or the other… amazing. Super excited What I *am* skeptical about? World pvp. You notice how pvp servers have been faction UNbalanced by players? Yah.
Hoppfully this will breathe new life into the game just as when OSRS released back in 2013. If they want classic to keep growing they need to learn from Jagex and keep updating the old game with new content/lore and have the retail story seperate as Runescape 3. If they can make this work then classic will most likely be the top MMO for many years to come
FFS, just when I thought I'd shaken my WoW addiction, Blizz comes out with something I had always thought I'd love to happen but never really thought would. Oh boy I can feel the rabbit hole starting to welcome me in again.
I really don't get why everyone is so hyped up. Ok, we get a new raid. Cool. There is more open world PvP. Sure! And they'll add more things like this in future patches/releases/whatever you want to call it: more than okay! All pretty amazing albeit obvious stuff. But you just can't change classes this much and still call it Classic. You can tweak, but anything more will just make it so you loose that vanilla feeling. "Metamorphosis Hell yeah!" Really?! Please, for the love of all that is good: no! And I'm saying this as someone that always had a lock as a main. Look at what makes classic "classic" and do NOT change that. Add features, some QOL, add content, give a few select specs something extra that makes them viable, but within reason and within Blizzards control. Runes can imo never turn out for the better. They will only lead to more "perfect" characters, to a gearscore like system which is exactly what killed the game in the first place and to a game that plays completely different. "But my lock will be stronger and I will be OP and we will all be able to play the way we want". You sure you want that and if that's even the case? Retail has tried that. One of the few ways they can screw this up, is with changing how classes play. And that's exactly what this sounds like. It sounds like a modern version of Classic. It's off course always a personal opinion/preference and I could be completely wrong (and hoping to be), but this doesn't feel like a Classic+, just like a new road to homogenization.
Funny to see that Blizzard is still capable to make people excited to scam them again later XD. How often did that happen in the past? 10 times? 20? Again and again and again :D
I think that they didn't had any plans to make classic+,so when people start hype month before blizzcon, they mybe did this fast so they can give something to people, and they cap it on level 25 so they buy a time to fix all problems with this.
the only thng that this shows is: that you have no idea how programming workst, Sorry but this whole thing isn´t just "let´s copy some words over and we have it" becouse this would literaly kill the whole game. No it is something you need months when not even 1-2 years for (at minimum)
@@luxTenebris1 They have code already, they have big team working on it,they just inject it and that's it. And for your information I work as programmer. All "new" spells are already created in some of expansions,so they used that logic and changed one dungeon to raid, and they have one more month to fix everything so it's playable on level 25.
@@aleksadmitrovic940 as an programmer / IT Person you should know that retail is a completly different Environment to the original game, which means they have to recode it so that it works in this particular version of the script and not just "copy past" otherwise it ends in an endless loop which will crash the PC of whoever is playing the game (in the worst case, hell my first self programmed calculator crashed my Profs PC becouse i was missing one single letter in the code) or just in a state where the game is unplayble
I can see why you'd think this, but there's no way that they'd be able to create this amount of change with a release date in less than a month. They obviously intend to gradually raise the level cap, and with it only being 25, I doubt it will be stuck at that point for long. They clearly have a lot of content lined up for when they increase those level brackets. I would be very surprised if this wasn't being worked on since at least the beginning of 2023.
