Love this video! Incredibly informative and a great overview. As a lifelong Seattleite, I love, love, love when people move here and appreciate the gems and access to nature. And it’s true! We are a huge dog-friendly city with lots of dog amenities. Thanks so much for highlighting Seattle and the PNW!

More grey than rainy. (Portland rains more) South Lake Union was a very planned development so is new and attuned to younger, higher earners. Glad you have enjoyed your time in Seattle though. It's not as safe as it once used to be and is very expensive to live in. Probably still a good visit but don't waste much time downtown as its taken a huge downturn. Also, Vancouver BC is even more dramatic for scenery and is cleaner. Great to visit.

This makes me feel a little better. I searched “living in Seattle” and the first few videos I watched were from Nick Johnson and he just absolutely trashed it in every way. I visited here with my wife last year and we stayed a full week going everywhere to see if we wanted to live there and we fell in love! I know there are flaws and issues but we just felt like we fit in. We are both very liberal, love cold and gloomy weather (hate the heat!), are introverts (so we don’t mind the fact that strangers won’t smile at us!), and are not offended by homeless people struggling. Could you give my wife and I some encouraging words as we’ve decided to move there after she finishes graduate school next year!

South Lake Union is nice but is definitely the clean and safe area. Did you guys look at Wallingford, Mapleleaf or some of the more neighborhood areas to live? Sadly Seattle is nothing like it was 10 years ago. Hoping the issues we have now start being addressed soon. Glad you guys enjoyed your time here!

I thought this video and all the points are a really down to earth approach and gave me a good idea of that city. Can you talk about rental pricing, vehicle parking within your apartment/home rental and coat of groceries comparitively.
@TayAndBrock
@TayAndBrock Год назад
Thank you! From what we found, you’re usually renting in the city from between $800-1200 per bedroom in apartments. There are lots of parking garages and those are usually around $300/month. Groceries are groceries, no matter where you live - depends on where you shop, what your taste is, and how many people you’re shopping for!

Is Tully's still there? Lived in Capitol Hill from 2004 to 2007 and U district for 6 months last half of 2003. I turned 30 in Seattle, moved there after college in San Antonio and a couple friends came out to live in 2006 so we chose Capitol Hill because of all the bars, the hill is nothing like it was 2004 to 2008. My buddy now lives in belltown and he digs it. I moved to OKC for work and love it which was a huge surprise, pretty liberal here and medical cannabis passed in 2018 but its more like recreational you can smoke weed anywhere you can smoke cigarettes if that is your thing. Great live music, food, local culture etc...Like I said OKC was a surprise I thought i was going to suck and I would be going back to Seattle every weekend but I've only been back to Seattle twice since I left in 2007

Capital Hill is a good place to look. The city in general is relatively expensive but Cap Hill is probably the most younger-person-friendly. South Lake Union is nicer but a little more expensive and has less to do.

Seattleites never use an umbrella. It could be torrential downpour, not an umbrella in sight. Haha Is that the off-leash dog park at Magnuson Park in the video?
@BWSaks
@BWSaks 2 года назад
Nope, I could never live in what I call the downtown of a city or in a high rise. Give me the suburbs with my own yard, driveway, garage, trees, bushes, flowers and garden. I’ll drive to restaurants and coffee shops. I’m 1 hour from the beach and 1 hour from the mountains. No concrete jungle for me…ever.

Seattle Center which is in S. Lake Union has (or HAD) lots of homeless people living in the trees/bushes. I used to deliver groceries to the Metropolitan Market right across the street from there and it was sketchy with panhandlers and belligerent dopers. You can't easily see it but property crime is really bad in that area. Park carefully.
