So the original Nose Tackle were all Ted Washington types. 6’5” 350 size dudes that played in 3-4 defenses. So when analyzing NT size, 6’1” 300 is undersized for a Nose Tackle, but not undersized for a DT, since there were usually 2 DT in a 4-3. It’s weird but I agree even tho he is smaller, I don’t think he’s undersized esp if he plays like Donald
I'm *hoping* Murphy is like the hunting dog that flushes birds out of cover - he may not get the sack, but him forcing the QB out of the pocket (or HB to redirect) might open the door for the hitters to get home
@@nasirulrich2148 I totally understand. The arm length is just what takes me from "this pick is elite" to "meh". I'm not as high on Murphy as the general consensus, but I'm sure he'll be at minimum an average starter who will help the team, especially given how putrid our run defense was last year.
Not real worried about the cons! The short arms don't concern me as he is not the first interior lineman with short arms who ended up being great. Dontare Poe is a good example. We don't know how good he will be, unless Brendon can predict the future? Who thought Brady would be what he is? You never know! 🤔
I was happy with our D-line last year. They can look after themselves in the big games. This guy is just going to make the 'Brute Squad' that much better...They can't double team everyone. I understand that the Hawks Front Office has never seen value in taking an O-lineman in the 1st round BUT those guys were embarrassing last year. I am sorry but that's how I see it.
Murphy dominated that game, Penix was really good that game at maneuvering the pocket and avoided the pressure. Murphy was constantly in the backfield. It’s really hard to evaluate DTs if you’re not actually looking at the specific player and know if he’s holding and reading or penetrating.
Yeah, but don't forget that UW had one of the top O-lines in college football last year and Penix still had to run around and throw off schedule and it wasn't because of outside pass rush, but because of inside pressure and blitzes.
He is young and uninjured because he only started one year!! Only team docs and coaches know the medical info. At the combine they MRI every cubic centimeter of these guys.
