I would recommend people move to Vancouver, WA which is a suburb of Portland. It's close enough to commute there. You won't have to pay income tax and if you drive over the bridge you won't be paying sales tax either. You get the best of both worlds.

Vancouver, BC has universal health care though. It all depends on your social priorities and ideals, balance though I would figure.

Seattle is more scenic than Portland, but both cities are very much alike in my opinion. it's still the Pacific Northwest.

KEEP Nature Natural PNW. I wish I could ride metro everywhere within the PNW cities and tunnels instead of old ferries.😏

You left out weather. Portland is much hotter in summer. You will need AC in your home. It gets hot in Seattle, but you can manage in most places without AC.

You forgot to mention you guys also have a WNBA team which is pretty big since they have amazing phenomenal athletes in the women division. A while back you guys use to have the NBA team Seattle Supersonics who is now known as Oklahoma City Thunder.

Nice channel, I had to subscribe. I'm from Ohio but have had a bit of a fascination with the PNW for a while. I have an old High School friend who lives in Seattle and loves it out there. It seems like a beautiful part of the country

I moved from Seattle to New York to Cincinnati. Seattle is obviously the most naturally beautiful, but New York and Cincinnati are more vibrant. It feels like the West Coast people go to bed at 8 pm.

The reason Portland has a similar population to Seattle is because it is much larger in square miles. Seattle is land locked and has much smaller city limits.

I like to see Seattle and Portland compared to each other. At least there is no state income tax in Washington. Either of those cities seem nice. I love that Seattle is investing heavily in public transportation. Great job,Bryce. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The buses are disgusting and basically a traveling fentanyl shooting/smoking gallery and shoplifted item transport service. UW did a study and found meth smoke in 100% of buses over a three month period. No one pays because you're usually outnumbered by non paying vagrants fighting, excreting, sleeping, etc. The light rail is the same, except with a bit more violence. Shockingly, in a city historically and geologically famous for sinking, the rails the installed under the city are, well, sinking. They close it all the time. They have been working for a decade to cross a lake with it, but realized they used the wrong cement, it was cracking already. So they put spanners all over it, then realized they used the wrong spanners. No one will use that line to Redmond as they all work from home and are affluent enough to not want to end up in a parking lot at night to get into their car then drive home. They're spending tens of billions to build a line across the cut, about five miles. They'll have to go under the cut, which is insane. It's okay though, they're going to be ripping up the city for it until "projected" 2036, which means 2045 or later. Keep in mind this will never be used by anyone as downtown is dead, so MAYBE a handful of people will use it to go a ballgame sometimes. The rest of the time it will be full of the same characters that use the buses, but since this is in the future, there will be ten times more of them (it's tripled in five years, so the math works). The rail cars by Occidental Park and the Lake Union line run often. I work downtown and in the last half dozen years, I've seen a combined 5 passengers. Yes, I've been counting. Keep in mind, that during the insane lockdowns we had here, mass transit was a no go, so there's a 100% chance they'll be put offline regularly in the coming years. It's a massive scam. It's the best way, besides educational levies or the homelessness industry which runs this town, to just throw billions at your donors, in laws, college buddies, etc. Mass transit is the last thing Seattle needs. This isn't 1905, people live everywhere now. Seattle is a dystopian hellscape in an irretrievable nosedive, its only value is as an example as to the exact opposite of how any city should operate by every metric.

I have lived in Portland, you forgot to mention My. Bachelor. It is a bit far, but worth the drive. Amazing mountain. Also, Seattle has much more in way of hiking. Mountains surrounding Seattle are just more massive. Portland does not have lakes. I know, we own a boat. It has rivers and reservoirs. All very small and not that great to boat on. Larger reservoirs are much further out and are worth the drive. Seattle has so much more outdoor advantages by far. It is endless in Seattle. Hiking is far superior and is our passion here.

I just moved OUT of Seattle and to a small rural town out of state. The crime and insanity of Seattle and Portland is ridiculous. My wife worked at REI and nearly DAILY they had criminals stealing stuff! Cops don’t even come now. I had a work van stolen and 5 vandalized in the last 3 years! The attacks on Asians lately have been rising. Also the cost of living is ridiculous. Our small condo in Kent was DOUBLE the price of our 3 bedroom house with a yard where we are! Gas was $5.30 in Seattle, $3.75 here!!! All of our neighbors are nice and watch out for each other. STAY OFF THE WEST COAST AND ITS POLITICAL INSANITY.

Finally a spicy comments section! Income tax sucks, but so does sales tax. The Man is going to get his $$$ one way or another. Personally, we love it here in the Seattle area more than we enjoyed PDX. Will always be a Timbers fan, but nice to have MLB, NFL, and NHL teams!

Portland and Seattle are nothing alike. The important thing to know about Seattle is that Seattle itself is not even the economic center but instead Bellevue, Redmond, and the east side. The east side cities are where the ultra wealthy live. The Seattle metropolitan region is basically broken up in very polarized ways, with ultra rich cities, and then a couple middle-class cities, and then several really bad places that are dangerous. In the Seattle metro, you basically need to spend between 800 K and 1 million to have a nice home in a nice city. The alternative is to live in a home priced at around 400 to 500 K in places which are not as pretty, have crime, and have really bad schools. Portland is not so polarized I think.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Is that your feeling about just the downtown areas? I can understand that sentiment if so. The Seattle metro area as a whole is one of the most beautiful places in the country you can live, and I know a lot of people that absolutely love it here.
