The Computer Control System optimises performance, ensuring that the brush is always at the correct height for ease of use and long carpet life. However, for a deeper clean, for example with stubborn pet hair, just press the performance boost button for extra pile lifting power. I love SEBOs branding. Their boxing is very, idk, groovy? Especially with the felix. They have a filter that has leopard spots on it or tiger stripes. I've never seen that on a vacuum. They are works of art. Surprised they haven't been in the museum of modern art.

These are awsome machines. We have has ours for 5 years and its amazing. If you look after it ( and its easy to clean and service) it will not fail. The suction is still very very strong.

Love the video. I also agree with you on sebo products that they are quality. I have the sebo Felix and they are powerful and quite. I do wish the Felix would come with the automatic head adjustment. Thanks for all the videos.

+craigsclocks The Felix has a better carpet cleaning rating because it doesn't have the automatic height control. Sebo wouldn't have produced a machine with the boost button if they thought the automatic system was perfect.

I bought a Sebo X4 Boost because of your video and I absolutely love it. I love it so much more than I thought I would. With boost mode enabled, it grabs, lifts beats the carpet like my Dyson and Kirby do. I love how I can feel it “grab” the carpet and seal to it, and is so satisfying to push and pull it once it does that.

Hi Roger, I've just followed your video to put our new Automatic X4 Excel Eco (from John Lewis) together. So much easier than following the manual! Thanks so much as it really helped. I didn't add the dusting brush to the handle as I didn't like the way it stuck out. When will you be doing a demo of the extension hose to do stairs? It would be great to see it. Do you love your Sebo? I bought the “Boost” version. Without Boost-mode enabled, it doesn’t clean very well as the brush roll barely touches the carpet. However, with Boost-mode enabled, it cleans very, very well. It digs deeply but not so aggressively that it damages my carpet - just the right amount. If you don’t have one with Boost-mode, I highly recommend getting it. The Automatic X4 “Boost” and Automatic X7 “Premium” have that feature. I snagged mine half price on eBay, as it was a display model at a Sebo store and had never been used, but wasn’t technically new either. The man I bought it from had just retired and the one I got was one of his last remaining vacuums to get rid of.

I have just bought a standard x4 extra eco used and apart from needing a new power lead I think it is a really nice performing machine (it doesn’t always switch on so I think there’s a break in the wire )

NEVER wash the filters. It merely puts hole in them and renders them ineffective.

I love gloss black finishes let me tell you you wont be disappointed with a Kirby you lower the head with a foot operated petal and they are the same if not better quality than any thing else you are happy with

Best machine for carpets?

I just bought an X4 and when I turn it on there's a short delay of around a second before the motor starts. Is this normal? The 'check brush' lamp also flashes briefly as the motor starts, but it doesn't stay on and everything seems to work fine. The brush spins normally and the suction seems OK. The reason I ask is because my mother also owns an X4, but the motor on hers starts instantly when the power switch is flipped. Hers is an older 1300W model from around 2002 though, while mine is the new 1100W eco model.

Ah great, thanks for the reply. I guess they must have just updated the electronics. It's a lovely unit anyway - Sebo certainly haven't compromised their build quality over the years like a lot of other brands.

Roger, has Boost mode every turned off on you on it’s own? I feel a huge difference when Boost mode is on, but mine will occasionally turn Boost mode off on its own. I use it with Boost mode enabled at all times, though. Perhaps it’s not meant to do that at all times?

Boost always turns off when you switch the cleaner off, but should not turn off while the cleaner is running.

Love this SEBO! Question for you ibaisaic.. When you engage the Pet Boost feature does the Sebo lower a little bit according to its height at that moment or does it lower all the way down to its lowest possible setting? Thanks!

+Jon McConnell It only lowers a little bit more but still takes into account the height of the carpet and continues to adjust if you move to a different carpet.

I don't think you addressed why it gets such a poor rating for emissions. Strange considering it is approved by the British Allergy Foundation.

I think the poor rating is due to carbon dust from the exhaust as my G1 with a better exhaust filter has a higher rating for dust emissions.

+Felicity Taylor It is impossible to name the best vacuum cleaner because everyone's requirements are different. I like Sebo and Miele cleaners the best, so I suggest you look at their websites and check my channel for the reviews I have made on those makes.

Sebo automatics have never done a good job with low pile carpets. They always sit just ever so slightly too high and require multiple passes to get junk picked up. They also don not groom carpets very well either. The new machine with boost function finally addresses this. And allows the machine to thoroughly clean and groom the carpets belong just surface pick up. Now if they could actually get the suction power up where Miele and dyson are they might become decent machines

+J&J Hoovers Actually more Watt doesn't mean more suction. Just look at Henrys: The newer low wattage models perform a lot better that the old high wattage ones.

wattage isn't everything though, our Dyson V6 only has 350W but does a far better job than our upright vax which is 820watts.

I am not going to lie, compared to mile's s7 line these Sebos look so prehistoric and technologically inferior. Miele's digital displays, swivel motion, and beauty are vastly superior to Sebo. I do not understand how some people put both Miele and Sebo on the same level. Miele is os much better in every way!

+Ron Dude Please explain where the digital display is on a Miele S7 because all I can see on my top of the range model is LEDs behind a display panel. Despite the Sebo being considerably older in design than the Miele, it is more advanced and far more reliable. A new brushroll for a Sebo cost around £12 and can be fitted in less than a minute. A quick Google search reveals that a brushroll for the Miele is £127.34 and from what I read from people who service these cleaners, very difficult to replace. I own and have owned many Sebo and Miele cleaners and I like both brands and you're right, Sebo and Miele are not on the same level, Sebo is far above Miele in terms of build quality and reliability. You like Miele, good for you, it's your money and you can buy whatever vacuum you like. I understand that Miele are discontinuing their current upright line, so get one while there still available.

+ibaisaic I highly doubt Miele will discontinue their s7 line since it has been highly lucrative. Oh, yes, by digital display that is what I mean. So a brush role is more difficult to replace on a Miele. Sebo has no swivel steering, no automatic brush tensioning, no nice lighted led display, and no aluminum for the wand. Also, the bags on this Sebo look smaller than Miele. This Sebo just looks antiquated!

+ibaisaic hey, I don't mean it in a harsh way! I like your videos and you do a far better job than I could ever do! But you have to admit, Miele's s7 agitation and suction are better.
