Sebo X7 Premium Pet Demonstration 

Thanks, Josh and the folks at Vacuums R Us for contacting Sebo about properly registering the warranty for my X7 Pet. They emailed me yesterday, and I gave them the serial number, so I should get the 10 year warranty now.

Josh, I just received my X7 Pet and the literature doesn't indicate an extended warranty. Maybe it goes into effect with registration? I am happy with the performance of the vac, but it's too soon to judge whether or not it's better than the Miele canister it replaced. I don't have to attach a separate powerhead every time I want to clean carpeted areas, which is the main reason I wanted to switch to an upright, and it does a great job on bare floors. The brush roll and dusting brushes on the Miele were made of horsehair, whereas the Sebo has hard plastic bristles for its brushes. Not sure one is better than the other, but the horsehair would be gentler on delicate surfaces. I think you can get a softer brush roll for the Sebo. The Lexan grade plastic body of the Miele seemed a little thicker and more robust than that of the Sebo, but again, they are both strong, and I don't think there's a substantial difference. It would be nice if the brush roll on the Sebo could be turned off when you are using the wand to detail corners and tight spaces, and sometimes the Sebo wants to tip over forward when I'm using the wand and have stretched it to its limit. My flooring is mostly (intentionally) unevenly laid Italian tile, and I get a lot of "check brush" indicators because the brush roll is going over an uneven surface between tiles, but it's still cleaning them. Lastly, it would be nice if it had an automatic cord rewind, but that would add cost and complexity. I had a Hoover (the old company) self-propelled upright that had an automatic cord rewind. Unfortunately, the cleaning performance of that vac wasn't great.

What would be a better fit for a house with a 3/4 to 7/8" pile shag rug: a Sebo Essential G4 or Sebo X7? I've gone to my local shop and tried a G4, but they didn't have any rugs other than the medium pile carpet they had in the store, but even on level 3, the brush light was just starting to flicker, so I'm on the fence about using either one on it.
