We all know that a 2nd great war would be won by the main character of the game that shows it. That guy always has unlimited power.

You forgot that the Legion is consistent of not only Imperials, but thousands ofNords, Dunmer, Orcs, and a few Redguards, Khajits, Argonians, Bosmer and tes, even High Elves, like Fasendil. In the First War, the Empire wasnt prepared, now... The Thalmor will know fear...

The empire military numbers have swelled they have 21 legions x 5.56k = 116,760 troops the elves dont have the man power to fight full blown against the empire. thats a rough estimate of imperials going base the roman empire legions.

Im going to assume that the 2nd great war would already be done by elder scrolls 6 and we will read about it in books sadly

I think we can safely assume that Hammerfell would ally the Empire, or fight as a third party against the Aldmeri Dominion (based on the 9 divines belief), and that if Skyrim lore wise gains independence, it would do similarly. However I do believe Black Marsh (Argonia) would remain out of the war, and the Dunmer, with their Daedric religious beliefs, would either remain out of the war or sell mercenaries to both sides

There is also the question of, how the Khajits and Bosmer are going to react to a chance to rid themselves of the Dominion's rule. The Empire attacks, the Thalmor holds its ground and then the locals rise up to strike them in the back.

About the forests in Valenwood, couldn't the Empire burn them down?

what about the navys, the empire has historically relied on other aspects in naval warfare, as seen in the invasion of Alinor and the batle of Stros mika

Great video! So the Dominion would basically at least lose a war of etrition, since there is no way in which they could replenish they're numbers fast enough in a natural way. This means that they have to win this time or get crushed in the possible third war.

In all Honesty if there is a Second Great War,There could be 3 main Outcomes: 1) The Empire is Destroyed 2) The Dominion is Crushed 3) Both of them Reach an agreement and stop fighting I think If The Empire used Say A Black Book or An Elder Scroll,they could be successful in defeating The Aldmeri Dominion by Completly Destroying the Dominion or Forcing them to surrender and taking their territory for their own. I have wondered that why dont imperials use necromancy in their wars as a new source of manpower and terror weapon and not to mention capturing vampires or negotiating with them and say to them hey you can go kill some elves and eat them if you want and you can feed on the war prisoners and vampires go like yeah thats a good deal and then there are the werewolfes. just imagine 200 werewolfes attacking thalmor and they are shitting themselves because they might get bitten

I think the empire has advantages in the diversity. the empire has plenty of high elves and plenty of all the races

It would be sick if the Imperials made a special force with heavy armor with enchantments. They could counter the Dominion's heavy reliance on magic.

What do you think about Hammerfell? Or Morrowind?... I know that Morrowind is in ruins but still there is bad blood between them and the Altmer. But the Redguards... and the Orcs they could help

The warriors of Hammerfell beat back the Aldmeri in the first great war. I would imagine they would hold a grudge and want to help the empire.

You Forgot one key point matter in who would win a second great war the empire has 3 countries and of those countries they have kids and those kids are unkillable so give them a sword and let the fight they will win the war.............as the empire's slaves

I think tes 6 is gonna cover the entirety of tamriel, save highrock and skyrim. I think its pretty much canon that the stormcloak rebellion will fail, which will allow the narrative to push for a empire vs. Aldmeris war, rather than a 3 sided war. With that being said, skyrim wouldnt have much to do with the second great war the high rock never really has a reason to participate. The argonions invaded morrowind, so theres a war going on between them, so i could totally see some involvement with them. Todd howard did basically say that we dont have the tech for elder scrolls 6 yet, so i do think the map is going to be HUGE. I think we're gonna have to wait for the next gen of consoles to come along. Phil spencer said he had an idea of what hes gonna make next, so its most likely gonna be on par with PC in terms of computing power, and probably wont even be called "xbox" anymore. So i think we arent gonna see tes6 until late 2019 or possibly even late 2020

for my opinion on the 2nd war I believe that the Stormcloaks will win the civil war but with a twist, General Tulius surrenders and lives to command in Cyrodiil. The Nord build up their army and start relations with whats left of the Empire and Hammerfell. The Thalmor would have to fight an alliance of Skyrim, Hammerfell and the Empire. There will also be the reformed Blades and possibly Dawnguard to fight the Thalmor and then there is the Dragonborn who will likely fight for Skyrim. There is a chance Morrowind will join the war as the Dark Elves hate the Altmer. Chances are the combined armies would invade Valenwood and Elsywer and as a result the Kahjit and Wood Elves would rebel against the Thalmor. Eventually the alliance would invade Summerset Isles and end the war with the Thalmor defeated. As the terms of the treaty, Summerset Isle, Valenwood and Eslweyr become part of the Empire.

Great topic!! I do think, however, that the Thalmor strategists are, and have been doing whatever's necessary to ensure that all of the members of the Dominion engage in their upcoming war. I also think that you're underestimating the utility of a greater number of mages doing everything from supporting troop effectiveness, to providing firepower and spreading confusion in enemy ranks, to providing healing of troops ensuring their return to battle ready status at rates which the Empire cannot match. Also the difficulties the Empire faces in invading Dominion territory to strike at their resources significantly enough to impede their war effort is paled by the ease which the Dominion has to strike at Imperial resource centers. And lastly the Dominion will hold naval superiority, allowing it to utilize the waterways to disembark entire armies with little to no warning and to just as easily and effectively remove armies in emergency situations and even to then deliver these same armies to areas that are lightly defended or to provide any number of tactical or strategic maneuvers to cause disruption and damage to within a huge swath of Cyrodil which the Empire could not hope to be able to counter.

NIce work. But besides calculations war is largely unpredictable nad what's most important - the attacker has all the initiative. What I mean is the attacking side can gather enough strengh and strike at the most unprotected spot in their opponent's defence. While the opponent mustering a force to close the breach and thus weakening other spots, attackers then strike at another place and make a breakthrough once again. As well as make a landfall behind the opponent's defencive lines. Since we assume, that the Empire is not going to invade, the attacking side are Thalmor. And so we have the Empire at disadvanage once more, just like during First Great war. To win or even survive the Second war the Emire simply has to start hitting Thalmor own ground, keep them guessing and catching up after every single move the Empire makes. Otherwise, I'm afraid, it's going to turn out badly for them.

My view on all this is the Second Great War will be the sixth game and it's outcome will be player controlled. Valenwood is where the last Tower (Green Sap) other than Adamantine is located so it's likely to be there and if the war happens there it'll be the best choice of location for ES VI

there is a book on skyrim that talks about the khajit defending their home from the count of leyawin (fucking nailed the spelling) it describes the khajit using guerrilla tactics to defend elswere though i assume this was not during the great war

Thalmor would have much better trained armies as the have hundreds, if not thousands of years to practice their skills. However Empire has much more troops of different races therefore having troops, for example, like Bretons and Dunmer (who remained in the empire) being good at magic

empire could win over the dominion if they are able to slowly sneak troops into the borders of elsewere or valen wood they could do that by appearning on the shorlines this tactic was used by tiber septim to take black marsh he did not want to risk full scale battle on the argonions same can be used hear slowly send troops when enough is in place start battle on the frontlines then this seccond army can come from behind and wipe the dominion out then the imperial army can march through to next portion from there it would be more flat land and can have a attack from hillside and flat ground if possible by sea what may be a statigic advantage could be their downfall for they would have no where to flee by summerset a victory like this may encourage hammerfell and black march to rejoin the empire increaseing the number agian for the dominion has same issues empire would have when it comes to invadeing bases be set on our side of the hills they cant come by shor since cyerodile as shorter border of shorline then the dominion if they come from the north the journy would be to long weaken the armys they would need at southern borders empire has some upper advantages to in a seccond great war

Do you think the bosmer will be all that willing to fight for the dominion? I mean, there was already a huge rebellion against them there, as seen in "The Infernal City". Aldmeri are althoritarians,they find themselves superior to the wood elves, and that breeds rebelion... Personally this is my favorite second great war scenario: some wood elf clans see light, rise against this dictatorial regime in a pro-empire rebellion and attack the Thalmor army in the borders with Cyrodill, paving the way for the Imperials. The chaos in the border with Cyrodill makes the oportunity for the Imperial Legion to invade, thus kicking off a second great war (imagine a TES VI:Valenwood starting at this scenario... a man can dream... a man can dream). The clans are divided between Pro-Thalmor and Pro-Empire, and the war is fought in Valenwood.

If a second Great War would really be hard on the Dominion, then it makes you wonder why the emperor didn't just denounce the Concordat when shit got serious in Skyrim, and give the High Elves a nice big "Fuck you!"

Anyone else notice the Imperial army composition is only 98%?

My personal guess is that TES VI, which we know to be in Hammerfell and the Iliac Bay region, will focus around the civil war between the Crowns and the Forebearers, with the third option of uniting them and having them join the Empire in the Second Great War. I imagine the SGW would already be happening by the time of TES VI, and at a standstill, with the possibility of the Dominion or Empire winning hanging in the air. Depending on the player's choices, Hammerfell could remain neutral, and the Empire may fall, or Hammerfell could join the war and tip the balance against the Thalmor. Then by TES VII, when we've all died, the ending of the war will be confirmed in some way that rendered Skyrim and TES VI useless.

I like to think that either way skyrim ends up, with ulfric or elisif, the dragonborn would with no doubt in my mind would be chosen as the high king. And then reclaim the ruby throne resparking a dragonborn line of emperors!

That like to dislike ratio. Your video was very well put together! I want to make one point to you. If the Dominion attacked on the southern border they would win if (if) the imperial army was in a phalanx formation. Though. I don't personally know which Roman tactic they primarily use. I do know raw power tactics (ie history's most powerful formation.), that it will not survive in mountainous terrain. You in this aspect might have missed a scenario. However they did later on (they being ancient romans) adopt a new formation which was more malleable to excessive terrain which moved like a checkerboard. This is going with your entire; not including cavalry - scenario. I find it very, very difficult to believe a mage in any race being weaker than an Aldmeri magus. Breton battle mages are no simple shrugs themselves, but in sheer power? Doubtful. Now let's factor in weather, as illnesses and climate changes can also make or break a war. In winter time I think the Aldmeri would be more successful with less mouths to feed and care for on their journey to and fro. I am almost 100 percent uneducated in tes war formations, army statures, and landscape other than in game playing in at best casual to medicore. I loved your video, please make more! For the legion, for the Emperor!

Also don't forget the Aldmeri Dominion sent agents to Argonia to help take southern Morrowind so what if the Thalmor (which is a faction of the 3rd Aldmeri Dominion) call in a favor from the Argonians, The Khajiit and Argonians may have their differences but I'm sure they'll stand together if the same army tries to invade their borders or if the ally of both calls on them.

Tbh with thcurrent settings you said i can only see the empire win if they fight a defensive war. Meaning that they will stay at the border near valenwood. Because invading it would be suicide and atouching elsewear is like kicking bees nest. Best to leave it alone. What i think they should do is either improve relations as best as they cn with their neighbours, especially hammerfell and elsewear, to either help them or stay neutral in the coming war. Meaning that they either provide troops or will stop the altmer when they try to pass through their lands. If they managae to keep the elves locked in there, they might even try to launch an attack on the summerset isles by sea if they have a special forces or if the altmer fought themselves to dead near the border (but that won't really happen). But then it would turn into a naval mush pit. So yeah, this part might also not happen since the imperials have just enough troops to hold the line. I hope this made some sense andik wist gewoon dat je Nederlands bent. Haha, groeten uit het Zuiden ;)

If Titus Mede is actually assassinated, meaning it is canon in Skyrim, I speculate that it would create a vastly more positive atmosphere within the Empire. The current mood that we get post great war in Skyrim is that people are very pessimistic about the Empire's future and much of that apprehension revolves around the Emperor's actions signing the White-Gold Concordat. If he died and someone new took control that was highly motivated about defeating the Dominion, it would be far more likely that those other races that had opted out of the Empire would consider helping the Empire, because they all know from past experience that things would be far better for everyone to be a part of the Empire, rather than being treated as worthless subjects by the Dominion. I predict that the second great war will be a victory for the Empire, but like the first war it will come with many sacrifices, opening up opportunities for new protagonists to take advantage of the different provinces under the Empire's protection. Just from the whole moon thing with the Khajit, I feel like the Dominion are too cocky and rely too heavily on a false perception of superiority and that this will inevitably undo them like every other race of mere throughout Tamriel's history. You simply cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that every elven Empire has been beatin into dust by underwhelming forces time and time again, so it is far safer to assume that the Dominion don't really have an advantage anywhere they establish themselves, as their egos almost immediately set them up for failure every single time.

Do a scenario for WHEN the Stormcloaks take back Skyrim.

Cyrodil, Orc, Nord, Redguard heavy infantry and cavalry would go through their lines like knife through butter, Breton battlemages are in league of their own with capability for magic offense and resistance to magic all the other elves who are in the Empire and hate Thalmor and there is a lot of them to make up bulk of mages, archers, light troops...Aldmer Dominion cannot win in any realistic scenario especially considering humans live a lot shorter but breed considerably faster it takes 2-3 decades to get over a devastating war where it would take centuries for a mostly Elvish society to recover from those losses. One can say they have advantage in magics but as we all played the game and saw what a warrior/archer/assassin classes can do to everything and everyone, it's not really anything that can compensate for those differences in numbers and quality.

Empire could sail, attack from the coast, surround one far West mountain fort and attack Eastward on equal footing as far as elevation. Rinse and repeat until the mountains are captured. After reinforcements, supplies and fortifications are added to the mountains they can work their way South against the second half. A long protracted war means more Imperial soldiers and over time they take hold of the final island. The Khajiit are traders, nomads who can be bribed or convinced that the elves took the moon away in the first place.

Running a supply line through an angry Bosmer infested wood area would be suicide. You would be using most of your numerical advantage protecting a supply line. Diplomacy could make the Elsweyr a winnable approach, with some diplomacy to secure a some justification to be on the territory. Easier to secure a supply line by sea and further from the center of the Aldmeri Dominion.

I think the Thalmor would have a much greater magic focus than what’s represented here. They’re more attuned to magic on a personal and public level, so there would be more mages and the best mages would be even stronger

I hope in the next elder scrolls game they give Imperials similar if not the same armour that looks like Imperial City guards armour.

The Empire have a powerful ally, who can call dragons, shout, and summon wrathman, explosive oil spiders... Yeap, the Dragonborn, a Shezzarine.

You should in my opinion also counted other troops from other provinces because they will definitely will fighting also how good are the generals and how trustworthy are the troops to name a few parts that will be crucial aor somewhat important at the end in my opinion anyway nice video and dont see this as hate only feedback :D

Elven troops are so weak in skyrim lol, I had to take away my companions OP weapons and we both slaughtered a whole elven Outpost with nothing but an Iron dagger, a Steel greatsword (Uthgerd) and running around naked all to give them a chance. Oh the fun XD

Great topic!!! I do however think that you're underestimating a few factors. First is the fact that the Dominion knows that it would need all of it's members operating together in unified forces to achieve a victory sufficient to maintain its supremacy over the Empire, and to acquire territories of such strategic importance that the capture of which would both strengthen the Dominion and weaken the Empire to an extent as to be able to offset the human races superior birth rate in comparison to the elves. Second I believe that you are underestimating the value of having a greater number of mages to supplement troops, wreak havoc in enemy ranks through both direct as well as more indirect means, and perhaps most importantly the increased ability to heal troops, allowing for fewer casualties and maintaining a greater retention rate among soldiers that would be a steadily increasing utility throughout the course of the conflict. And the inherent difficulties which the Empire faces in attempting to invade and hinder any resources of importance to the Dominion war effort in comparison to what faces Dominion invading forces into Imperial territory; probably striking into Cyrodil itself to raid and disrupt resources which the Empire wouldrequire in order maintain the sizable military presence along the Cyrodilic border with two enemy countries that are both capable of launching attacks with little if any warning. The Empire would also be at a significant disadvantage in naval conflicts allowing the Dominion a significant advantage in mobility which leads throughout the heart of the Cyrodil. It also allows for both tactical and strategic placement and removal of armies along the entirety of the waterway, which would be exceptionally difficult for the Empire to counter much less to achieve any significant victories against due to the ease of retreat the Dominion forces would enjoy.
