Lol. He totally hyped up his product and then ended only selling two of them. Sorry but that part made me laugh. Plus it costs the same price as a new catalytic converter.
Fast forward to the year 2021, where those same metals like rhodium are going for 6 grand an ounce and converter theft is higher than ever. Suddenly the 175 bucks + labor to install a cage doesn't seem so bad when replacing a CAT can run you over 1500 dollars!
I have 300 cats, the junkyard usually pays me $300, $200 & $100 for small ones. They think I don’t know, but I want to know where do they take it? To whom do they sell it? I have 4 cats from a landrover each worth $800, thats big bread! But they’re only giving me $800 for all. Can anyone shoot me the main guy?? ! Fck the middle man!
Well if anything it should have only costed you like $40 lol I had a shop cut the flanges off the xpipe of my cobra then weld straight pipe in place.Only cost me $40.
No need even for that, you can one hand a saw and cut it out, once it drops grab it and leave. It's not like they follow OSHA rules for holding the saw with two hands or anything.
I drive 25+ year old vehicles, and moved to an area where emissions/smog testing is not required. Exhaust shops normally drop price on work if i leave my old converters with them.
Man, imagine how scared someone would be when you're shooting at them while they're stuck under a car trying to steal and "about to attack me with a knife"
Yeah, since RU-vid us their only source of information. Seriously though, withholding information was never ever a useful way to prevent crime. The only thing it contributes to is clueless victims.
@@Oz521 literally just installed a new one on my tundra yesterday, was 400(and I installed it,no labor), truck has 2 banks. So I could install 1 for each bank, for less than the cost of 1 cat. But, noone steals them around here, mine was just fucked.
My car was in the process of getting the catalytic converters stolen. Little did he know I was still up (4am) and heard his saw. I simply walked out to my driveway and kicked the jack. It immediately dropped and crushed the guy. I could hear him struggling to breathe and in extremely pain. I kinda panicked and walked back inside and tried to go a bed. Within a few hours a guy walking his dog called 911 when he saw a pool of blood coming down my drive way. The cops knocked on my door and informed me that a thief was dead under my car due to a “faulty Jack”. Luckily the guy had a lengthy record and no one saw me kick the Jack. Till this day I don’t feel bad about the guy but I can still perfectly hear his struggle gasping for air.
If that’s even real .. then your an awful person for taking someone’s life bcuz there trying to make a living off something your car doesn’t even need to function . People like u shouldn’t exist.
The more different new stations broadcast it the more it’s gonna happen thank u guys for putting out this wonderful idea 🤦🏾♂️ I work at avis car rental and we were selling our old rental car and a hotshot came to get it but when we started it we realized they cut the catalytic converter off and a few other cars.
In most states, it is illegal for a "muffler shop" to "delete" a cat converter. However, you can cut your own cat off at home and the muffler shop can legally and safely weld in what you want for your exhaust system. TRUE
That's Grand Rapids, on this side of the state they carry a jack and work in teams and I don't see how two cables are going to deter anyone especially with a sawzall the blade woukd probably fit underneath it or they could just cut a little farther back.
Imagine being a person who doesn't know anything about cars, you go up to your V8 Suburban after you finished lunch with your family, you start her up just like any other time, and you just get earraped by a now straight piped LS. What do you even think in that situation?
Lost mine from my Element last week. I'm now having Cat Security mounted when the mechanics replace my cat, and looking at ways to rig a motion detector siren.
Parking next to busy area doesn't help either as police suggested! My one was parked right next to the underground tube station still they managed to do! :/
H Haq Underground Station? That’s in Greater London then. Let me guess.....you own a 2003 - 2009 model Prius (Mark 2), right? Those bastards nicked mine too 20th November....!! In Bermondsey, “sarf of the rivah”.....(my fault for venturing there). Members of the gang targeting Prius cars exclusively, have been caught on camera! They were also confronted - they’re of Eastern European extraction, and I’m pretty sure they’re carting all their stolen CATs abroad to the continent (as scrap metal - possibly in a container) to be smelted down and sold to willing buyers. You read it here; those metals are worth more than gold...!!! And sadly, the Prius 2nd Gen has the HIGHEST concentration of those precious metals in it’s CAT, compared to many other vehicles. Cost of an original replacement is £2,000.....now you know why it isn’t cheap! Curiously, the London Metropolitan Police don’t seem to care. About 200 Prii done over the last month and all they do is issue crime numbers and a link to a victim support group for a hug. Catch the crooks? Maybe warn the general public to be on the lookout? Be aware? Get footage of the bastards? Nah! That’s too cerebral. Easier to bury their heads in the sand 😡 Mind you, I’m probably being harsh on the Met. The government have all but decimated the UK’s Police Force by about 22,000 officers, cut their budgets in the name of austerity, and ensured those in charge will dance to the nasty party’s tune instead of protecting and serving the public like they certainly would like to. They’ve been literally neutered; turned into a toothless bulldog. So, sorry Metropolitan Police! We’re all frustrated at the unbridled crime overwhelming London, but we DO acknowledge your hands have been....er.....securely HANDCUFFED by the STUPID GOVERNMENTS short sighted austerity policies, by not allowing the Police force to run at full strength....!!!! You have my sympathy 😔
@@datathunderstorm You're absolutely right!!! I live in London, East London between Manor Park & East Ham plus yes I do own Toyota Prius 2007! Well to be honest if I see doing this to anyone simply am gonna pull down the car jack! Toyota motors asking £1680 plus there are 2 sensor if they're damaged/missing then an additional £180 for each sensor and obviously all this excluding labour so it's not a bearable loss! 😔🙄
@@hhaq1947 My honda Jazz 05 got done a week ago in SW London. It cost me £600. They cut both censors it was horrible. In broad daylight they did it. Apparently they mainly target Toyota and Honda they are easy to get to maybe I dont know. 😔
Toyota, Honda and Lexus it's the target, easy to cut and easy to get good money for them, I work in a accident repair centre, we had a Lexus in one month they nicked the cat 4 times, poor women was fuming
Uhm, they’re not tall and lanky. They use a Jack. It takes 1 minute. They got mine off my Chevy cavalier, caught on HOA camera, inside of 1 minute and 9 seconds. One jacked up the car on one side, the other slid under, used a battery powered saw, dropped the car, sped off. Having low clearance means nothing. They carry jacks! Duh.
one time they stole one off a 4runner, customer thought his bottom end had blown out and immediately towed it to the shop. We started it and laughed because he was so scared he thought that his engine was going to shoot out of the car. He said he has never seen it happen except in movies but has never heard this sound before either. Could have save his tow though
That guy must be high as a kit thinking someone can crawl under the car and take it off, it’s called a jack which raises the car so anyone can easily access the converter even with long lengthy arms no one could get it
Dad, 25, crushed to death while trying to steal £500 catalytic converter from BMW Daniel Stephens, from Pontypool in South Wales, was trying to steal the catalytic converter from a silver BMW in a car park when the vehicle fell from the jack and crushed his chest
They hit a lick on mine broad daylight while I was at the barber shop in southwest detroit. That was like 5 years ago though. I went around the corner to a muffler shop 35 dollar straight pipe 😎
Brother Termite I was thinking the same thing because once I pulled up they didn’t even ask me what the problem is or what do I need, they specifically said straight pipe Cadillac converter gone? I was like ya.... they said they get a lot of vehicles that come for that reason lol.
Yeah when he said "The same price as the very thing you are trying to protect" referencing a Catalytic converter @ $180 I had to rewind and listen to it again, because either he's got an extremely cheap, counterfeit, bulk order of cats off the black market, or he has absolutely zero idea of the price (or virtually anything) about a catalytic converter
My present auto is a 2019 Dodge Charger. The car is so low off the ground, no person can really squeeze underneath to cut-off the catalytic converter. I ordered a new Chrysler 300C auto that is higher off the ground, and I fear some thief may steal the converter. My auto is safe at my residence behind safety gates. I am inquiring how to purchase and install a metal plate that covers the converter. Surely a mechanic should know how to install plate. Does anyone know where online to purchase this plate?
Actually it’s real purpose is scrubbing for radioactive particles in the exhaust you might want to invest in a $50 Geiger counter people die all the time from cancer messing with it
My whole parking lot got hit having on having all our converters cut out in one night.... I'm in Naperville Illinois and they've moved out of Chicago and now they're targeting the suburbs I just had mine reinstalled however that was $500 insurance deductible for me to pay and I don't know if my insurance now is gonna go up. I'm a senior citizen I can't afford to pay for this additional thing I have no savings to do so and my credit cards are already maxed out just trying to keep up with this inflation.... If I get hit again my car's just gonna have to sit there because I can't afford that 500 plus that extra 400 for that kit and the labor I just can't...
You’re wrong. I have the theft of mine caught on camera. They used a Jack, the other one slid under, they dropped the car, and left. The entire thing took 1 minute and 9 seconds from the moment they got out of their car
Why was I investing in stocks? If the CC was worth 170 in 2013 that means its 4x'd in like 8 years. Will now be switching all of my investments from stocks to catalytic converters
