There is no such thing as Freedom. There is only Power. If someone ceases to inhibit or control your Power they are not doing you a favor. They had no business imposing on you in the first place.

There is business in inhibiting and controlling others. Why else would people do it for thousands of years? One can also refrain from doing so, and that is what freedom is - the choice to not do harm in pursuit of power.

There is no such thing as power. There is only Freedom and its negative, the unjustified usurpation of Freedom, that comes and goes with time, but never sets in as a permanent condition. Where is the Ming Empire today? Where are the Aztec priests, now? All gone to dust like all of that. All of them defects in the fabric of Freedom. Even in somewhere despotic like today's Iran, "power" is limited by Nature. Anything that is not forbidden is "permitted". Yes, I'm talking out of the mouth that farts, now, but then so are you? Which confident declaration of "the truth" is true? The louder one? The more strident one? The one that doesn't yield to reasonable persuasion?

@@VarlenusFreedom requires accountability which comes in the form of Rights. Freedom ends where another person's Rights begin. And only a moral people will result in those two ideas to last and endure.

@@carpediemyes Yes, but it's one thing to respect someone's rights because you're forced by law, and entirely another to do it willingly in good faith.
