When my son died his 6 year old daughter wrote him a note of how much she loves him. I put it in his hands.

This reminds me of the lady that promised her husband she would bury all his money with him when he died. When he died, she and her friend were at the wake and her friend asked her if she really put all his money in the casket with him. The wife said, "Yes, I did". The friend asked her where she put it because that was a lot of money. The wife replied, "I wrote him a check!"

Tony Curtis being buried with all of those items reminds me of an episode of The Golden Girls where Blanche told Rose, "Rose it's a coffin, not a condo." 😂

When I was learning to play hockey as a goalie in high school, my grandfather visited from Arizona. He came to practices and laughed quite a bit as I fell over and over. He got a lot of joy out of those times and said he was proud of me. When he died not long after, I got a puck from one of our winning games and Dad put it in his suit coat pocket. I hope it still makes him smile all these years later. It does me.

My great-grandmother lived through the Great Depression and all her life she carried a folded up dollar bill tucked away in her wallet, so she was never ‘completely broke’. When she passed, my mom and my aunt tucked a folded dollar bill into her hand before she was buried.

When we buried our Dad, each of us kids put an item of special meaning in his casket. My older sister was a pilot, so she put her pilot's wings on Dad's suit lapel. Each year at Christmas, our Dad received a Play Boy calendar, so my older brother put a small calendar with naked women in his casket. My twin sister, found a flashlight just like the one that our Dad always used to carry in his back pocket at night when doing chores, so she wrote a poem and put it inside the flashlight and put it in his casket As for me, I had a miniature sized stuffed bear that I always took with me on all of my trips, and I put that in his casket for one last trip. My brother in law who was in the Air Force had some coins from different countries he had been stationed at, and he put them in Dad's pants pocket. No one, not even our Mom, knew that we had done all of this. So when our Dad's casket was being moved to be put in the hearse, those coins fell out of his pocket and clanged onto the bottom of the metal casket! Needless to say there were a lot of shocked people! All of us kids, were laughing so hard, and our Mom was shocked and demanded to know what we had done and when we could stop laughing we finally told her what we had done.

Recently my Uncle passed they decided to put is driver and some golf balls I want to be buried with my only car keys to my Charger and not let them know if I have another set

A few years before my Mother passed away I hand made her a Quilt for her birthday. She never put it on her bed or used it because she was afraid it would get dog hair on it. I ask her to please use it because that is what I made it for, but she never did. So when she went into a retirement home I sent it with her to use, after she passed away I had it placed in her coffin with her to keep her feet warm. Because she always had cold feet. My brother was buried in his favorite football jersey and cap and many other football items for the team he loved for over 40 yrs.

A friend who had passed was buried with the ashes of his dog, a fully in tact Custom Harley He built, a bottle of JD, photos of all the biker places he loved to go each year, cards from children he took on rides on his Harley during Biker Rides to raise money for childrens hospitals, and whatever else each person at the viewings dropped in there.

Some years go, I visited the family plot of jazz great Box Beiderbecke. In the blues tradition, I cleaned up around the grave site and place a coin on his headstone.

I put a fishing lure a hat with my grandfather when he died. He always wore a hat. And loved fishing it was the last thing I got to do with him. He died only 2 days later of a massive heart attack. Everyone was asked what they wanted as a memory of our grandfather I said I only wanted his fishing pole the one he used all the time. I still have it to this day. I don't use it but I know it's here and always reminds me of him.

I am enjoying these keep up the good work. I want to share what my beloved cousin was buried with, he died at 35 of cancer in 2004. Coach Walt, as he was known, coached high school wrestling. His boys won state in 2003 which was the last year he could coach them. When he died they all came to the funeral and we the family didn't know it until it was our time to take that last look and goodbye but those boys had brought their metals from state and laid them on his chest. When they closed his casket for the last time it looked like he was wearing armor. My uncle's dad was a brick layer by trade and when he died my uncle (by marriage) had a model of a brick laying job that he put in with his dad. When my uncle died we put in his favorite NASCAR model he built and his pride and joy (a picture of a bottle of Pride and a bottle of Joy) that he would ask everyone if they wanted to see a picture of his pride and joy every where he went then show them that picture.

I had a friend who committed suicide. I snuck a piece of broken glass in her coffin hoping that she can find a window to heaven. And a pair of earrings that she left at my house after a party

My son's great grandmother was a special woman,and she loved him dearly. I loved her because she always saw the best in me. I served her her last meal of ice cream. When she said she didn't want it, I knew it was her time. I told her to not worry I will do everything she had asked of me. Her funeral was beautiful. I placed a small flashlight in her casket and her favorite picture of Carlos. His father asked why the flashlight ? Haha told me I don't like the dark, and she didn't want to get lost in it on her way to the Light. That was 25 years ago this year.

My Mother was buried with her Mother’s ring, Grandmother’s ring and a birthday stone necklace and a picture of my mom with my late sister in a picture frame that matched her casket

My Father always told me to place $1.50 in his suit pocket for a cup of coffee on the way, and .50 cents in dimes so he could use a pay phone to let us know he has arrived, I did just that, don’t know if he ever got his coffee but we never did get a phone call, apparently I didn’t give him enough to make the call or he couldn’t find a pay phone

My dad (his ashes) was buried with my mother along with a picture of her grandchildren. Grannie was buried with a bead necklace from the little girl who adopted her, we made sure the funeral home put them on her.

I don't think any of my loved ones were buried with anything. As for me, put my cell phone in with me in case some idiot buries me alive! 🤣🤣

When my grandfather died my sister had given him a keychain that said worlds greatest grandpa, it was in his pocket.

My Grandfather was born and raised in Chicago and lived his whole life there. We buried him with a pack of my cigarettes a deck of poker cards,pinochle cards,Chicago Tribune newspaper,a lapel pin of the Cincinnati Reds his favorite team but he really was a Cubs fan at heart and a can of Old Style beer.

My mother (who was cremated) was buried with the ashes of her favorite dog who had died a few years before.

My mother always said she wanted to be buried with a blanket because she knew she would get cold. She also wanted to be buried standing up since she could not sleep on her back. Well, we were able to cover her with a blanket at least, one knitted by my sister in law for her.

My son died in 2009 of T1D. He had 2 Teddy's that he received for his 3rd birthday that he kept with him until his death. He moved, they moved. I put them in his casket before they closed it. Another move for my baby and his 32 year old friends.😓💕

When my aunt was buried my sister put a porcelain doll in her casket that played Candy man by Sammy Davis Jr. Some idiot wound it up as her casket was closed so it was playing as she was lowered into the ground and covered up. To this day I can't hear that song without the shivers!

My great grandmother's sister made my mother promise that when she died my mom would go to the funeral open a can of coke, {my aunts favorite drink} take a sip, and put it in the casket with her. My grandfather passed in December, the last year he slept more anything. The last time we truly saw him light up and be his normal self was when my son showed him the lightsaber he built. When my grandfather passed, my son had to buy a lightsaber to be buried with him.

I put a freshly pressed handkerchief and a selection of seeds from his collection in the fridge door into my father's jacket pocket when he passed away.

What I put in casket with my mother.Her favorite silk head scarf.A note I wrote to her with some pictures of her grandkids. When my older sister died.I bought a little gold rose pendant that I and the( help of the funeral director) put on the lapel of her final outfit.

I owned an M-1 Garand and would shoot it when I had the opportunity. My uncle was a WWII vet who really enjoyed shooting my rifle. When he passed I gave the rifle to my aunt so it could be buried with him.

My grandfather William Zumbaum waws buried in his bib overhauls and flannel shirt. He penned a poem titled "Overhauls." When my sister was barely walking, she got in trouble for picking some daffodils. She included a few in Dad's grave, picked from the same place.

My mom had a well loved teddy bear from the 1930s. It was special to her, but not to the rest of us, so we put it in her arms in her casket.

I think everyone who is buried should have some photos and information about them in a sort of time capsule, so if ever dug up in the future they will know all about them.

My step father was buried with his favorite pictures of us together on a Navy ship in the Philippines. He had been in WWII in The Pacific and wounded in Subic Bay.

My middle brother was in the Army and then went to the Marines he left her his dog tags and his purple heart. The baby left her a pair of dirty socks. The socks have been a private personal joke between the two of them for years....

This isn't quite the same but, my brother-in-law who was an avid golfer, passed away recently from cancer. Ironically his favourite golf course is near the cemetery, and as he planned his own funeral, he made sure his final resting spot faced the golf course!

When my grandma died my 2 grandkids packed her 2 lunches and 4 diet cokes, they were 6 and 9 at that time. my cousin had closed her savings account and right before they closed the casket and locked it , he put an envelope in at, after the funeral and we were eating, my mom asked him what was in the envelope and he said 2 thousand dollars, she said why did you bury it with her, he shrugged his shoulders and said it was her money then he just walked away.
