In this video, we'll be exploring the secret phone calls that took place in actor Lee Sun Kyun's blackmail case. We'll be looking at phone recordings that the junior madam Kim Nam-hee made in September when she first alerted Lee about alleged hackers who were threatening to expose their relationship.
Do you believe she was just the messenger and also an innocent victim of a blackmail attempt? Or do you think she was a co-conspirator? Or acting solo? It's important we start from how she's framing the story in September 2023 with Lee because she's singing a much different tune to the public and police in January 2024.

My humble opinion: it seems to me that everything was done in conjunction with someone from the police. The one upstairs is a police informant (to reduce her sentence), they organize a meeting between her and the bar manager while still in prison. (By the way, how can a woman with such a bad record be the manager of a VIP bar? Maybe she was just put there to report people who used drugs and thus lessen her sentence?) Of course she lies, she lied about G.Dragon , and yet the police and public opinion believed her and not the actor. Why? Because they were and are condemning him for cheating on his wife and not for drug use. And they possibly used our beloved actor to cover up a more powerful figure, one of the 11 on the list that the businessman presented and who remains anonymous. #JusticeforLeeSunKyun!

Good point about the cheating. SK is really such a puritanical society, i felt that this was more about condeming him for cheating and shaming him, than finding any real proof that he's using drugs.

Many of us confuse the actor with the character he played. In this case we all confused him with My Mister. You don’t start going to hostess bars for the first time at 48. So he must have been going to hostess bars for many years. Hostess bars are not illegal in Asia and there are thousands of such bars, and they have been the cause of many a divorce. The problem is meeting the girls outside of the bar, at their home. As a famous man, a rich man and a married man with children, he knew it was risky behavior and he should have known he could be blackmailed. This is still a matter between him and his wife and he should have told her and gotten divorced. Scandalous but there you go. What he didn’t expect was his “madam” to tell the police he took drugs (still not proven true according to all the tests the police did on him). Now the scandal is bigger and he is losing jobs and will have to pay penalties. So his reputation is in tatters, his career is over for the time being and his marriage is over. He still should have divorced his wife and separated his estate from his wife and children so that they wouldn’t inherit his debts. He should have held on if only to be able to see his grandchildren in the future. His self un livening himself was the worst thing he could have done to his family. The pain he put his family through by un livening himself is worse than the pain the scandal he was facing was causing them. He should have lived long enough to put these women behind bars for blackmail and to divorce his wife so his family’s would be separated from his debts. There are no bar hostesses with a heart of gold, they want all your money and they will point the finger at you to save themselves. He took a huge risk associating with them. Still I wish he hadn’t taken the decision he ultimately took. That pain never goes away.

While I agree with a lot of what you said, saying that a man doesn’t just start going to hostess bars at 49 and that he must have been going for years is just more judgment and speculation….which is one of the the very same things that drove him to his death in the first place. It’s extremely assuming and unfair of you to say that. A LOT of men start having a “mid life crisis” around that age, so again, that’s a presumptuous line of reasoning there. Let’s stop putting even more of that on this man who has already paid the ultimate price…..

Are you kidding!!! Men of a certain age start doing many😮 things they've never done before. It's called a midlife crisis. It's insulting to say that fans don't know the difference between the real Lee and My Mister. No human being deserves to be driven to suicide by basically a he said she said scenario. So he smoked weed 8 or 9 months ago which can't be proven. If he committed adultery that is between him and his wife. No one deserves to die.

You can not hide the truth, especially from the son. The truth always comes out and the son should know so that when he gets bullied he won't have an even worse shock. Also, if they get convicted of a crime against the deceased the wife needs to sue. Think of the bigger picture. Damage is done now everybody has to pay. Geeze, hiding the truth is never good.🫰🏼

What kind of so-called friend would introduce a celebrity friend to such a place? It is true he was an adult and could have said no. But he was being set up for failure in the first place! How come no one questions this so-called friend. Obviously he trusted the person(s) who brought him there and put a lot of trust in this madam. Where did this trust coming from? Either he was a very trusting person or it was a set up to drag him into this underworld. I felt for him. I can't imagine the pain and suffering he was going through. The whole world was against him. Do they not have any concerns for his wife and children? Handle the blackmailers for their actions. Let the man rest in peace. Now his agency is threatening to sue for false information about him when they should have supported him from the beginning. They should have waited until all evidence was presented and trusted that he told them the truth.Such hypocrites 👎🏿 His indiscretions with the other woman was between him and his wife. The guy was shouting out loud I am innocent, he asked for a lie detector test the previous day of his death , why would he commit suicide after that? His wife has not commented on anything, for what I know, I might be wrong here…. I do not think he even cheated. The truth will come out, all of it , because his family and friends will make sure it does. Do not believe anything you hear online and in the news. For crying out loud. I have seen and read loads of crap and the only person that is trying to put together all the crap is this guy in this video here. Everyone snap out of the crap that was manipulated by the police and the media. We do not know the situation and what happened but sure as hell everyone that is sane and without judgment can see that Lee Sun Kyun was targeted through these women/by these woman, God knows there might have been others behind it all. Maybe he was trying to fucking helps these whores , god know what they told him. I do not understand Korean but do those phone calls between him and that whore Madam K show that there was a relationship there? This blows my mind! In the United States actors, musicians ect., have affairs and try drugs all the time and blackmail would be laughed at. I mean they would literally laugh if someone were to try and blackmail them. I think it happens so often here that people just roll their eyes and move on. Yet, it seems the cultural differences are so different in South Korea and the high moral accountability can completely destroy a persons career and personal life. How this person/persons could do this to that man knowing what could happen is the same as murder. My heart breaks foo him and his family!

Same here in Europe. How many western celebrities have cheated on their wives or done drugs but still have successful careers. The double standard in a Korean society that celebrates alcohol while stigmatizing drugs are nonsense. They excessively consume soju, leading to detrimental effects such as domestic violence and family breakdowns but express shock at smoking weed and cheating, with extreme shaming that lead to death. Sounds like they had nothing to begin with and they wanted to entrap and consequently blackmail him with the phone calls recording, getting him to admit everything. This is just sad. Those blackmailers are as close as it gets to directly culpable for driving him to his demise. It's easy for ppl like us to dissect the conversation and see something was off from the way she talked but for him it must had been a state of panic in his mind, consequently not being able to process and think straight. Imo, he should have instantly talked to his wife n apologised first and went to lawyer then police. He shouldn't have paid them off to begin with. And no matter how he handled it, this thing was going down the drain along with his career in SK. By paying off the blackmailers, he was trying to patch a broken dam with band aid. It was never going to work. This is just sad. You know the idiom, "If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas." Seriously though, what was his manager and agency doing? they should have been to a degree aware and put a stop to his dark side behaviour. He could have just move to Hollywood tbh. I know it's not going to be easy but he could be something akin to Ken Watanabe in Hollywood. English isn't the hardest language in this world. Even Ken Watanabe's English with heavy Japanese accent appears in quite large amount of movies in Hollywood. It's sad that he couldn't see this as his exit strategy.

Hollywood was not the solution, in my opinion. First, his wife is also a famous actress in Korea. If he moved elsewhere, she should’ve moved too, assuming they decided to stay together. And no, learning a new language - to the point of becoming proficient enough to work - is not that easy (some are easier to learn than others, depending on your native language) and this could have been a major roadblock for both of their careers. Additionally, it seems like he was also supposed to pay millions of dollars of penalty fees for the ads/movies/dramas he was forced to give up on because of the investigation. One of the biggest aspects people often forget is also the jail time in Korea for drug use (IIRC the range is from 4 to 15 yrs). Granted, they probably wouldn’t have been able to prove it in the end, but it was hard to say how long the investigation could have taken, or if he would have been allowed to leave the country in the first place. Given the clear injustice of the whole issue, he probably thought he was seriously risking jail time, even if innocent, simply because he was increasingly seen as a sacrificial lamb. Finally, it’s not like Hollywood is heaven either. True, nobody ruins your reputation for drug use, but it’s not like cancel culture doesn’t exist in Hollywood, and there have been many instances where celebrities’ reputations and careers suffered or were completely ruined, even before a verdict was issued. This is another aspect that we, as Westerners, often criticize in Korea, not realizing that it’s also prevalent in Western countries , albeit for different reasons. I wish he would have realized he still had options, because this whole story is heartbreaking. I wish he hadn’t been so desperate as to think that was his only way out. Still, the stress he underwent was clearly overwhelming for him and I can see the reasons why he took such a hard decision, even though I wish he didn’t. For him first and foremost, and for his wife, children and family. 😢

I'm sadden by his death to be honest. He was judged before all the evidence came out. The "guilty until proven innocent " mentality is what really pushed him over the edge. Everyone including the media, the police, people that rushed to judgement, and the companies that pulled out, and those people attacking the wife as well for no fault of her own. All of those people have the man's death on their hands. You may not have pulled the trigger, but you might as well have done so. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. He may have dispointed many by his actions, by pushing him to the extent he only way he saw out, was to end it? That is pure evil. May he truly RIP. May his family find some sort of comfort as time passes. May his legacy live on through his work and through his sons. No one is perfect and everyone will fall short. If true, about these women, I hope they get life in prison. Women like them truly don't deserved to be let out and destroy other people's lives.

This is a tragedy. The massive procedural and ethical problems with the police in this case raise many serious questions. Why did the police rely on one person, a criminal, without securing concrete evidence? Why did the investigation take such a sinister turn after the drug tests yielded negative results? Why did the police engage in such aggressive media play? Who put pressure on the police to find the actor guilty? The problems: Violation of investigative rules, lack of evidence, and Crime of Disclosing Suspicion contravening the South Korean Criminal Act, Article 126. Before and during the investigation, the case information was leaked to the media and the police's potential use of coercive investigation tactics. The police solely trust the accusations of one person who is a six-time offender with an extensive history of crimes without securing concrete evidence. After all the drug tests yielded negative results, the police sinisterly shifted focus and put pressure on the actor due to his alleged "relationship" with the female hostess. Even more troubling, another well-known star was investigated for the same alleged drug offences, yet the case was concluded without charges. And lastly, In South Korea, if the involved party passes away, the case is terminated due to a lack of jurisdiction. Who benefits from the death of the actor? Did he commit suicide, or was he eliminated? The police and judicial system need to provide answers, not to us*, but to his family. May his memory be a blessing, and may G-d's embrace provide comfort, healing and strength to his family, friends, colleagues and fans. *Post edited to correct spelling (use to us) mistake on 07 January 2024, 16:31 hrs.

You are absolutely right. This case raises many questions towards police and the media, which clearly someone is behind. There is no doubt that Lee Sun Kyun became a victim of a scheme not of ordinary scammers, but of some influential force in high circles.

All of this sounds seriously questionable at best, if this man was taken to this club by someone and drugged without his knowledge then pictures were taken whilst he was under the influence etc and, by the looks of things he was then blackmailed etc and the police just jumped on the fact that he was 'taking drugs' - it is all just too disgusting. It sounds as if the police should certainly be held accountable for a lot of things, including this mans decision to end his life, by allowing any of this to leak before a major investigation had been completed which then caused the whole thing to spiral out of control. They should at the very least have got all of the evidence from all of the culprits in this case and really found out aka done their jobs - before pointing fingers etc. The fact that Lee Sun Kyun was kept for questioning for such a long time then hung out to dry before they had even really began gathering evidence or looking into the background of all of this is shameful. Then the media are also to blame for 'exposing' him as some kind of drug taking crazy again before anything had really been established. It is all just too awful and the media laws need to be changed and the police procedures need to be tightened because this happens way too many times............

My belief is South Korea as a progressive and Future Facing nation. Not only did Korea pull their best Global Ambassadors out of the world Pop Music milieu abandoning hundreds of millions of international fans, but look at the travesty of this so-called 'drug' investigation, where the police investigated the actor-victim rather than the PUSHERS and the the criminal distributors. And the Itaewon tragedy on top of all this!!!!! I see more negative news and negative war-mongering from the Leaders of South Korea than taking care of citizen's needs and Future human growth. It's disgusting to see from the shores of another nation.

I think his close friends would have supported him in private but I think publicly he would have found little support because if somebody is just seen as backing up somebody who has been accused of drug use they get dragged as well. It's really this hardline on drug use instead of suppliers, coupled with a completely sanctimonious judgemental and unforgiving public that led to this. You can judge him morally if you want but to completely destroy people means you might want to look at your own self.

The loss of this talanted actor is heartbreaking. I pray there is a positive outcome that is long term. First new law no ex cons can work in those type of clubs. 2) next new law that all actresses, actors entertainment people if called for questioning it is private and details only released if there is solid evidence. 3) Any news agencies or netizens reporting verified false information get a huge fine and are banned from reporting for 2 years.4) Anyone found destributing drugs or trafficing under age girls will be imprisoned and fined and assets divided among victims. The police chief will also be held accountable if any underlings are tagged with these activities. The two woman must have the full weight of the law placed upon them. Justice for this actors mistreatment is vital to a healthy Korean entertainment industry. Also throw in resounding support for depression and suicide prevention. Sounds like too much I know but what a brilliant way to honor this man.

Sean, I am not turning a blind eye to this actor going to clubs and perhaps dishonored his wife, that is between his wife his God and himself, but men can become bored and want something bright and Sparkes Someone who hangs on his every word and makes him feel like he is the center of the universe. A woman who flirts, is interesting. Beauty sometimes has nothing to do with it. Also the hook for these two women is gifts, association, Money.

I agree with overwhelming majority of people - many of us from the West, btw - who are rightfully blaming SoKo netizens/society/POLICE for the devastating tragedy. Celebrities are hoisted up on pedestals and shredded IMMEDIATELY with mere anonymous allegations It's'well beyond just breaking the laws. "Innocent before proof of guilt" just doesn't exist. If I understand some outcomes, police superiors involved have been promoted. It's disgusting. There's much to be admired in Korean society, but also A LOT that is ruthless - even in how disabled (especially anyone disfigured) are treated, mental illness, etc. Sadly, I don't expect this to be [yet another!] a societal self-reflection. Let's not brush under the rug how a lot of drug use isn't recreational but clumsy self-medicating. I'm severely against recreational drug use having had my family severely affected. Wgat's going on in SK is on a whole different level.

I've liked Lee Sun Kyun a lot for a few years now since i first saw him in a drama. He seems like a pretty smart guy in real life (through interviews and variety shows i've seen him on) with a pretty good head on his shoulders. I absolutely see how someone of his status could start going to high-end bars and start to get into a bit of trouble with some drugs or women, and absolutely, in ultra conservative uber Christian Korea and with their strict drug laws, i can see how he could do a little of this and a little of that, get caught and quickly get run down in the court of public opinion, but it REALLY super confuses me as to how he thought this woman - a madame at a hostess club (if ANYONE has EVER watched a Korean drama, is there EVER a madame at a hostess club who ISN'T a lying swindler, NOT trying to grift her clients?! SERIOUSLY! The shady hostess club madame who will throw literally anyone under the bus, to get money for herself in any number of dishonest way, is like, a GIVEN as a character... and there is often drugs and blackmail involved, EVEN with the nice/kind/"good" madames. This is because the hostess club scene (literally ANYWHERE in the world, not just Korea, is, IN REALITY, as well an in dramas - this is art imitating life, not life imitating art here, ALWAYS part of the underbelly of society. It is literally ALWAYS associated with drugs, the sex industry, the porn industry, and gangsters. It's made up, usually of "have-nots" interacting on a casual, superficial, and transactional level with "haves") was telling the truth about the hacking. He's been in SO MANY DRAMAS where other characters are blatantly lying to his. How could he REALLY not pick up that she didn't have her story straight about the hacking and was lying? WHY would ANYONE believe ANY madame??? The fact that she's even IN the hostess industry (of drugs, drinking, and sex) and a madame, implies that she is at least SOMEWHAT deceitful.

@@Balta211 I didn’t claim to be perfect. Being responsible for one’s action is not being perfect, it’s being accountable, being trustworthy especially as a parent

@@utubesucks9302, he apologized and was condemned harshly by judgmental people. He took his own life. Doesn't that show enough remorse? Prude, conservative, traditional, and backward Korean netizens ended him. The tilted justice system and the overzealous police investigators grilled him instead of the blackmailers. He could face trial if he had confidence that it would be at least fair. You sentenced him already without concrete evidence. His wife may have felt betrayed, yes, but she definitely didn't wish him ill. So who are you to judge?
