Compensation for Lee's family and she needs to be sentenced, if not to death, at least life in prison without parole. Plus, the police/ invertogators need to take responsibility for Lee's death. He tested negative for all drugs, yet they kept pestering him.

I don't think she should be allowed to cover up when going in to talk to the police. Lee Sun-Kyun didn't have that option he had to stand there and face the media. There is so much wrapped up in this story. 1) The police need to do a better job keeping things confidential during investigations. 2) These two women and anyone else involved need to be held accountable. 3) Yes, ideally, this would have been a private matter that LSK could have dealt with alone within his family. 4) The media's role in this and their complicity with the end result. 5) This is a commentary on korean society as a whole. Honestly I can't even watch the "bully" kdramas anymore because it is so disturbing what is shown and the fact that this was a real life situation is horrible and terrifying. 6) Even celebrity koreans who want to mourn LSK are scolded and bullyed by knetizens. Yesterday, i read about Gong Yoo who posted a black square on his instagram in mourning and he was scolded for it and then deleted all his posts except the black square and another one out of pressure? There was another actor who may have gotten scolded for mentioning LSK in an acceptance speech last week at drama awards. When will the media and netizens ever question themselves and their own actions? Why can't people just live their lives without being under such a twisted, toxic microscope?? It truly makes me sad. Completely agree with you but I don't think the police even tried to keep things confidential. They were the ones who openly shared to the media that it was LSK and every single aspect of the investigation. They used him as a scape goat to cover up possibly political issues occurring. The Hollywood Reporter (US ) printed on Jan 3 says “ The idea that a project could be derailed by an actor breaking a morality clause and that accusations in doing so could lead to fatal consequences, could give Hollywood studios pause before doing further business with Korea”. “His fate could have a chilling effect on the perception of South Korea as a cultural & artistic mecca to be envied and to do business with”.

This is so tragic! There is something seriously sick in Korean society. The government need to route out corruption and need do something about the media. I think they need to school koreans from a young age about what bullying is, the affects it has and have zero tolerance for any pupil or teacher caught bullying others. Online bullying should be monitored and people prosecuted when found to be guilty.

Isn't it possible that sleep deprivation was a piece of this? Anyone in that situation was probably very stressed and not sleeping well. To be kept awake and interrogated for 19 hours would be exhausting. The human brain does not do well in that type of situation and one would not be in condition to make a good decision. It is a shame this man was pushed so far - and for what? Even if he took drugs, he was not a dealer, what information could he possibly have had. It 'feels' that the police were 'show boating' at his expense.

The 2 women who caused Lee Sun-kyun's exagerated reputation, causing him to end his life, need & must initially & publicly apologize to Lee Sun-kyun's family, to the international film/movie viewers like us, who watched & appreciates so much his work & performances as an artist. These 2 women must be lawfully convicted, as well, without pardon because of them a person's life was lost. Secondly, those K-media must be lawfully charged, too, those who played with words to describe Lee Sun-kyun as guilty & to K- netizens must also equally lawfully charged from their hateful & extreme judgemental comments to Lee Sun-kyun as if they are perfect & never commited sins in their lives. I saw a few videos of the late actor while the case was on. And I could see deep despair and deep sorrow in his eyes. It just broke my heart. And now he's gone...he's gone because we live in an age in which public media space has become a launching pad for verbal arrows that can pierce and wound the soul. And those who are unable to bear the pain decide to bow out weeping. What kind of people have we become? Where have love and compassion gone? I am a Nigerian and live all the way across the oceans, but the sorrow I feel is like maybe I lost someone I knew. He may have made some mistakes, but I sincerely hope that he gets justice, even in death.

Media & police also did but these girl blacked mailed him. They are pure evil! I also thought Madam was in her 50’s but she was involved with multiple actors..younger men too. I did not know the other girl was once actress either. It does not surprise me since men were drawn into her although she is not pretty..I have seen men cheat even their wives are beautiful. I don’t think it is about the outer beauty but she knew exactly how to manipulate many men. Westerners or other country people have no idea how Korean treats actors if they make mistakes..there is no forgiveness in Korean culture..very hard to understand but Korean culture, media, police & these evil girls cause him to commit suicide. The only thing Lee Sun-kyun was guilty of is to have laid with dogs and caught fleas. He did not deserve what happened to him. The tragedy, if that alone is not already tragic, is that the amount of money involved is relatively so very little. How desperate can someone get. The government, the police, the prosecutor, the justice system, the only hope for a higher ground in all this, is the most corrupt of all. The most bottom dwellers of all. They said she Went to jail for fraud. She got pregnant. This is her second child that she has now but with her first child, she told five or six men that they were the daddy and that they had to pay child support well one of them found out or had a DNA test done and found out it wasn’t his child he Reported her to the police and that’s why she went to jail. The other men showed up and found out what was going on with her to so she’s been blackmailing people for a long time.

I think Lee Sun-Kyun unfortunately fell into a trap. I don't believe the accusations from the beginning. He seemed like a warm guy and definitely gave the impression of a talented and organic actor. Actors often experience their roles deeply emotionally and need to unwind to get rid of it, so they mostly drink, etc. and it is their personal business. Personal life is also private because no one knows what is happening between two people and no one has the right to interfere, be interested, judge, etc. In the whole story, apart from these greedy women, I also sense a thin political thread... The government has declared a war on drugs and wants to show results at any cost. What better opportunity than this to blast a few big names in the media... The result is that a talented person left disgusted by the injustices in this world and left us in shock. I hope the case unravels to the end and the guilty get what they deserve! I meant that after the real story broke about the blackmail they started to see things differently. A lot of the younger people there hadn’t condemned him. The dang cops and government set him up too! The cops are the worst. U know what painful the most? Late Lee Sun Kyun was tested negative for drugs, police and media still painted him as drug abuser. He lost his job and online comments hurled about him was non stop, hundreds of abuse comments every hour on net.

I love this actors work so much, thank God that his work will remain to inspire artists and fans alike for years to come. My Mister, is one of the best shows I have ever seen, and his work in Parasite, is beyond brilliant. The venal and cowardly pre-judgers, the quick to hate netizens, should be ashamed of themselves. My Korean brothers and sisters, who were so quick to spew bile should beg his family for forgiveness. This loss is such a waste, and a testament to the inanity of fame. This broke my heart....

Lesson don’t ever get involved in anything that has potential to become “blackmailable”. Poor guy, so sorry that he was in that situation, he must have felt there was no other way out. will miss him greatly. Hope they can continue to investigate the dairy princess and higher ups, don’t get too sidetracked. If more sinister people are involved don’t let them get away with it.

There's no proof that he did. In Korea, you are guilty until proven innocent, but by then your creer is over. He already lost several projects because of false accusations and would've had to pay back millions. His suicide note stated "This is the only way out."

The korean society is sick and will never change. They attack anyone. They adored that "Glory" actress even for her beauty but attacked her when she was divorced. As if it was her fault. In this case: what one can learn is that when you do immoral things, dont expect to have a happy ending. He had everything. I don't know korean law but I hope there's a loophole in the legal system somewhere for his widow and his kids to not only get justice but also compensation. Those kids need their education to be funded. I think his agency should pay for not taking care of his image, the police and the media for not preventing the leak of information. ALSO the companies who engaged in contracts with him.

I’m glad you have covered this case. I have watched you report on it since the beginning. I feel very mixed feelings now. First I have to say he has been one of my favorite actors since I started watching kdramas, which was over 12 years ago. PASTA! I am so sad to see him go, especially like this. That being said, there were some very unwise moves he made. He was a married man with a family, yet he was involved personally at a high-end hostess bar, the madam, and a drug scandal in front of the world. Perhaps this bar experience is just a common and accepted thing in Korea, but this involvement for him would bring him to his end, and here I sit, in America, grieving about the terrible way it happened and the end of his life. One wants to reach out for alternatives for those in the future who think they have no hope but to take their own life. So much change needs to happen in Korea so people who are contemplating suicide can get effective counseling to help provide options providing hope.💔

It's just so sad he felt so low this was his only way to be left alone. These madams need to be jailed for a long time. 1 year served for each year of his life taken away. I just saw the news. Man it broke my heart to hear this. Dying is one thing, but commiting sucide because of someone is really heartbreaking and the fact that he was such a nice guy and a famous actor. I really liked his acting. My first ever kdrama was "Coffee Prince" and he was a main character in it. I've know him for a couple of years. Man whoever put him under such stress and psychological breakdown deserves hell, literally!!!!

The police should have seriously investigated the blackmailing women and brought them to jail .instead they used the victim who “happened” to also be a celebrity... together with the media and made a celebration of hot scoops - at his expense, he was interrogated by the police for the last 19 hours... as if he was a terrorist... who knows What did they say to him that led him to believe that he had reached to a dead end , but to kill himself... it’s a shame he was good, weak and innocent... very sad 😞😢
