I have about grafted 2 year old Atkinson mango flowering and it’s still in the nursery small plastic pot. I’m surprised, some say it’s too young remove wait another 3 years. I think I will just watch it do it’s thing.

Just make sure the mango tree's canopy is fully developed then applying Paclobutrazol. It should be sprayed directly on the tree, not applied to the soil, as it can remain in the ground for up to two years. It should help your mango trees start budbreaking.

Dang it!! Haha well I guess I’m a bonsai mango farmer!! I can’t put mine in the ground because it falls waaaay below freezing in the winter yet 106 plus degrees in the summer…. My poor 6 year old mangoes are destined to living in pots and are about 1.5’ tall 😂🤣 little midgets.

I have 2 mango trees I grow from seeds. I planted them in the ground last April and they look fantastic. I planted them near house. I wonder if I ever get mangos.

Lots of great tips! Thank you! My tree is in a container (grafted and supposed to fruit quickly). If it has taken some stress in the winter and irregular watering (many leaves browned but still many green leaves). It was in a covered structure (“greenhouse”) but took it out too soon I guess as the lows are still in the 40s, and will put it back. Will it not flower now? 😢 Apparently it’s a Florida “condo mango” (Mallika variety) and I was told and even saw it having fruits in a container (in california). I was told to remove flowers the first year. Is that right? I saw in the comments here that killed it. Could you please advise? Thanks much in advance!

My mango looks like shit,living in west south Israel close to Egypt,the soil is sandy,watering is by drip irrigation but the main problem is huge difference between day and night temperature.During the day even when there is only 20c it feels more because of strong sun but as sun goes down the temperature drops down hard.Now it’s night here and there is 7c.

How does your tree get pollinated? If it is too cold for the tree it seems that it will be too cold for pollinators. Plus if the tree is covered during flowering pollinators cannot get to it.
@qctropicals
@qctropicals 7 месяцев назад
flies pollinate mango flowers. They're out in force already lol
@dansobien8196
@dansobien8196 7 месяцев назад
@@qctropicals yes, it is mostly hover flies, they are only active when temperatures are above 50F. If they are active your temperatures must be higher than that. Do you uncover the tree during the day? The panicles can handle 50F just fine, mine take that several times a season.
@Maatson_

Flys , ants , wasps and bees pollinate. If it’s still cold it was probably the ants

Hey brother. Thanks for sharing. Can you maybe tell me why all my seedling avacado saplings are struggling to grow. I planted the seeds the same time as I planted other tree. My avacado seedlings are about 1.5 to 1.6 meters tall already with a 1.2m wide span canopy already. But 4 or 5 mango seeds are still like 20cm tall. It's growing for like 2 years already. If it goes in the sun. It burns and the new leaves burn off. If i put it in the shade it just takes so long to grow. It's in containers but it's still you can and seedlings. I have like many different variety of trees and care for them all the same and every single tree is growing but the mangoes are struggling. I really don't know what it could be. I know you won't be able to see what I could be doing wrong. But what would you say is the best conditions to grow mango seedlings in containers before they get big

@@qctropicals lol I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. So we have a temperate Mediterranean climate. We have warm summers and cold winters. It rains in winter and almost no rain in summer. Every other tree is thriving lol. When I grow trees from cuttings, I even get fruits in there first year of growth. Some plants which I grew from seed is already flowering 2 years later. The only things that is struggling is the mangoes. I have about 5 growing from seed and each one is taking very long to grow. They look healthy. Leaves looks healthy. But it's like new leaves take extremely lomg to grow. The trunk of one of rhe seedlings is already starting to get woody like have bark on it but it's a bit thicker than a pencil thickness and it's only about 15 to 20cm tall. It's stunted for some reason..

@@musaadfelton3909I doubt that mangoes like a lot of rain during dormancy, some of them dying on my winter - too cold

Thank you Alan.. You had me going there for a while, lol. Is that cover on your flowering mango tree 6 mil plastic? I can't tell if its fabric or plastic.. Also do you sell mango trees?
@qctropicals

it's plastic. I would not recommend plastic unless you have a heater in there as well.
