MissWooHoo11 - BSL for American Pit Bull Terriers! lol we meet again... and this time u're the one talking about art. i feel a sort of weird connection :)
I love how that first officer formed this relationship with these shoplifters, and more importantly, the shoplifters are respectful towards the officer.
To be truthful, the real thieves are the ones charging 80 pnd for a shirt. I suppose that might have something to do with shoplifters driving up the prices, but even w/o them they would still be charging 50 to 60, and that is still highway robbery. It comes into perspective when you realize that it likely cost that manufacturer about 2 pnd to make it in some sweatshop in India. However, you do have to wonder what certain items would cost if they didn't have to hire security and compensate for thefts, etc.
Rob Robert How you know how much should be charged for that shirt? What credentials do you have to qualify that statement?Retail is an exchange of money for items desired. The problem is there are too many people who don't have a fuckin clue about business and feel entitled to have things outside and above their pay grade. Too expensive? Don't fuckin buy it!
bermudaguy1 Have you been living under a rock for the past thirty years? There have been countless NEWS stories about sweat shops in India, etc who pay the workers pennies a day for products that are ultimately sold for hundreds of dollars. The chocolate industry is infamous for using slave labour, etc. Furthermore, you have no idea to whom you're making this comment. I could be a multiple business owner, for all you know. If I feel a shirt, or any other product is too high priced for what it is I DON'T buy it, but that's completely beside the point I was making. The price of everything is based upon what the market will bear. And prices are arrived at by everyone charging similar extravagant prices for similar products. You have to wear _something_. If you want to pretend you're so knowledgable regarding business that you can dispute my comment, and if that makes you feel self-important, by all means - enjoy yourself. But don't expect everyone to buy what you're selling, partner. You have great day.
Rob Robert Are you concerned about the labor for "pennies per day" or the cost of the merchandise? Seems to me that you'd be happy to buy some Armani or Hugo Boss for cheap....yes?Tell me who is getting these cheap labor costs for high-end stuff. I'd love to know?Do you know or just giving your opinion.
bermudaguy1 I couldn't give a shit about Hugo Boss or Armani. I am not one of the sheep that buys something simply because everyone is else is buying it. I buy the cheapest clothing I can buy that doesn't bear any logos on it. I think it's pretty obvious who's getting the high end stuff for cheap - the manufacturer who put their name on it.
is slimy , sneaky bozzo and I hate it away what is acting like that . but still my job is to fok him and make my piece of brad daily . I have more dignity then him even his job is decent and mine "not" . depence only of view !
Store undercover security try to become cops but they get rejected for being too stupid. And the lowly shoplifter is a constant reminder of this failure.. Why else do you think they love beating on them!!
@@empressqi1722 Then why don't you get a marketable skill & increase your earning potential? Having a criminal record for petty theft isn't going to make your life any better.
Anna Biela - Yes, and it would be so much cheaper to just pay for a replacement, and get on with important work. It saves work for an attorney, a court, police, and even for the shop owner.
I worked for a charity shop."Free" if you don't factor in the store's rent, the paid employees, the cost of managing volunteers, processing donations where people "donate" their dirty, worn and sometimes peed on and pooped in clothes and home goods. The time that takes in addition to processing the "donations" to tagging items, placing them in the store, organizing them, ringing them up and the cost of cash registers etc and the enormous cost of having someone to remove the shocking amount of trash people "donate" because they're lazy and want to get a tax credit and feel smugly that they've given to charity. The shoplifting was so bad in our church run thrift store that I put up an old picture of Jesus with a caption underneath it that read, "It makes Jesus cry when you shoplift from a charity" in the dressing room. Volunteers thought that was heavy handed until someone stole the picture and then they removed the dressing room altogether. Charity shops pay all of what retail stores do except for their merchandise most of which as it's "donated" is unusable. In fact, shoplifting from a charity seems even more low and mean.
Shop lifters think they're not hurting anyone with their stealing, but they're hurting everyone because the stores have to raise their prices to cover the loses. I can understand someone shop lifting out of desperation, that doesn't make it right, but I can understand it. But those who choose that as a way of life is another story. They need to revert back to medieval times, the first time they chop off one finger, the second time, two fingers, and so on a so forth. That's what they should do to the professionals who make a living at shop lifting. They also need to increase jail time and the amount of fines for the crime.
The police officers would be build ten prisons with a minimum six month sentence. It cost $38,000 pound to keep a person in prison per year. The government would have to raise taxes which would cause more unemployment and crime.
It's sad that his whole purpose in life is to catch shoplifters and if the sentence was death he wouldnt give a family member a pass. How can he be so passionate that his whole existence revolves around it.
Trigger Happy I actually envy him a little, he has a purpose. You may think it is stupid or inconsequential, but to him it has given his life meaning. A life without meaning leaves you lost....
I'm not sure about UK law, but in most states and provinces of the US and Canada, store managers are permitted to detain shoplifters until the cops arrive.
The store with no budget for cameras is losing money for no reason. A cheap 8 camera system can be had for $500-1000. You will recover that quickly with the extra arrests and you will have evidence on video.
Actually in the UK it is not, the public has the exact same right to film in a public place just like any shop does and like how most cities use cctv cameras and the police make use of ANPR recognition cameras to catch criminals.
All the time programmes like this (together with the store security and the police) trivialise crime it will continue to attract new recruits to shoplifting. In fact I'm already thinking of having a go myself, but it won't be for a couple of items from Poundland.
Here in the states they are really hard on petty thefts... I was busted stealing a 8 dollar mag light from Walmart and they gave me four years on 80%, which I ended up doing three years and some change, but that broke me of ever stealing anything from anybody ever again... It's just not worth it anymore, and life is just so much easier to just work and pay for the things you might need in life... Sometimes people just have to learn the hard way I guess...
Yeah you forgot to mention your criminal record LOL nobody gets that much time for a first offense in the USA without having a criminal record your comment is guilty by omission and especially during the pandemic California won’t even arrest you for goodsUnder $900
@@franktrautman2092 , oh yeah! I had a bunch of priers along with 3 prison enhancements, but I can honestly say that whole experience broke me of stealing anything ever again, and I remember the judge telling me he would make sure I got 7 to 8 years if I ever returned back to his courtroom on another theft charge… There is nothing in them stores worth me doing that much time for…
@@franktrautman2092 The minimum for felony shoplifting in Michigan is now $950, anything below that is a misdemeanor. You would need to have several priors before you would do significant time on misdemeanor shoplifting. The police can arrest for misdemeanor shoplifting in Michigan, though, meaning the shoplifter would spend a few hours handcuffed as a guest of the county before being sprung from jail on an OR bond.
When i saw this show on DR3 i knew it was interesting, as i work in a supermarket i want to know the tricks and to stop them cause it is stupid to go stealing.
180hrs community service for theift of $2000, bet she will never thief again. What a slap on the wrist, bet she ends up working at a salvos store and pinches stuff left right and centre.
It seems as if the LPs are happier if there are shoplifters than if there wasn’t any at all. I thought these places didn’t want shoplifters for obvious reasons. Apparently they’re happier if the crime is committed than if there was no crime at all. Rather odd and contradictory.
In my country thieves can get public execution or removal of a hand...you can put cash on a sidewalk and people will walk around it...lucky they live where the laws are so lax
I don’t think it’s right but in this world you have T.V. Radio and endless entertainment show to be in style by wearing the expensive stuff that the average person cannot afford and like most you want to fit in it’s really hard not to feel tempted
Some of these detectives are really good at reading people. I was shopping once and i picked up a can of Red Bull but i changed my mind and put it back. After paying for some other thing that i bought i was approached by a store security that just asked about that Red Bull can. I was just surprised. I told him i put it back (which i did) and he let me go without searching me. He said he believed me. Before i left i offered him to search my backpack and he refused.
John, that LPO was not good at all, and he is a nightmare waiting to happen. You could have sue him and the store for coming at you at accusing you or even express his suspicion in regards to a shoplifting activity. The law indicates that an LPO has the obligation to keep you in his sight AT ALL TIMES from the time you picked up the item. If he lost sight of you even for few seconds he is not allowed to pursue with the mater, exactly for the reason you just described. In those few seconds you placed back the object, and that could led to false arrest, defamation, emotional distress, etc. If the suspected shoplifter it happens to be a visible minority,, ,, the damage can be even bigger. If following the false arrest injuries have occurred as result of being forcefully detained and/or placed in handcuffs, and/or the suspect was in impossibility to take his/her medication, the store's nightmare begins.....you got the picture
I don't get that trick of the identical bag? They see someone walk in with the same bag and a different guy walking out with the same bag? How does that not arouse suspicion?
i shoplifted because i needed things my parents did not allow me to get and since i did not have any money after it i became a better person inside i learned that even if you have everything in the world you are not well off
Not if you consider that its not the specific perpetrators they're targeting, its the entire phenomenon of shoplifting, which has much increased bc of the recession. A few accessories nicked from Claire's isn't a big deal on its own but if thousands of ppl are all doing it here and there, it is. It affects the livelihood of ppl working in retail and businesses.
