Another thing my wife and i do to get more comps...when playing tables, ask the pit boss for a "discretionary comp" for a buffet, restaurant, etc. I have had pit bosses actually write me up a comp to eat for free and they DONT deduct it off your point total! Remember, all they can say is no. :)

A few years ago, we spent a holiday week at Red Rock Station. They had a great holiday gift promotion, where you could earn holiday cookies, peppermint bark and candy assortments, all made on premises. We played deep that trip and would up taking home at least a half-dozen gift boxes to give away. As an added bonus. We didn't even have to redeem the points. Great times.

Good, valuable advice! Thanks for this video. I'll start teaming up with my family gambling partners to try using only one person's players card each time instead of always each using our own cards to help our daily averages look better. I like that idea

That's fine until you've hit a jackpot. It's a little hard to explain how your wife/husband was logged on the machine when the other person is getting a hand pay. Security and surveillance both can tell who's card is in a machine at anytime. Of course, if you're not betting an amount to be able to win a hand pay. You can maybe make it work, if you stay next to each other. Otherwise, it could void a payment.

I like to hustle comps from places where the pit bosses still have the “power of the pen”. I’ll play a couple hours and then just ask “any chance for a room/dinner tonight?” In these casinos I’m usually one of their bigger players so they almost always grant my request as a discretionary comp. It’s a lot of fun!

For awhile, we were going to our local 1-2X/week. Pretty quickly got no-mailed. Nice CSR told us their whole ADV (ADT) schedule. Now we go 1X/month and comped decently again. Agree with all your points. Here, point multipliers affect comp $ but not free play directly. We never buy free play with comp $. Also, I look for friendly players with top tier cards and ask their advice for that particular entertainment facility.

I'm went to vegas in July won a $10k handpay at the luxor with my girlfriends card in when they came back with the cash they brought me my own card and a few weeks later I looked and I was getting way better offers from MGM dispite the fact that all of our play was under her card

I find as long as I play at a Boyd property I get good offers at Boyd properties. I frequently get comps at casinos I don't play at as long as I stick with the same company.

Another tip is that, generally speaking, the fancier the casino, the worse the comps for the average player. More modest casinos tend to give a little more in the way of food, rooms, gifts, shows, etc... to the average player. There are some exceptions to this, such as stand alone casinos in more rural areas that aren't resorts. For instance, if you go to the Aria or the Bellagio in Vegas, they won't give you a Saturday night free room if you just play $15 a hand at blackjack. But you might get a free room in Downtown Vegas if you play $15 a hand and also spend enough time at the table.

Correct. You will also discover that Vegas has just about the worst comps in the nation, with a couple of exceptions.

Step 1. Find old European video roulette (vertical slot) Step 2. Make 1:1 bets that cancel out ie. $5 red $5 black Step 3. Spin until you hit 0 Step 4. Repeat. These machines seem to follow slot rules. 0 is the only losing result. In this scenario the casino sees $10 spins/ risks. Worked at Trop AC.

This "trick" rarely works out. As the reply said, you are losing 2.7& If, by some miracle, your comps are worth more than this expected loss, then what you are suggesting will work. Once in awhile you will find a promotion where this might work.

Thanks for the info about maximizing comps. Say I'm going to a casino for a four day comped stay and my budget is $500 a day. I play slots and video poker. Would I earn more comps playing $1000 on two days vs $500 on four days? Do the casinos care if don't play on two of those days since my room is comped?

Best way to find out would be to simply ask a host on duty at that property what they think. My personal opinion I would be, Yes, 2 $1000 days is better than 4 $500 days- much higher average there! And No, they don’t care. You are not obligated to play every single day you’re there, and they obviously like big daily averages, so yes, combine, (if you can!) This is all card-inserted play- Do whatever you want if you’re just playing a bit on the off days.

Assuming that you are proficient enough in either game to be successful, it would always be easier to be a poker player because you are taking money from other players and not the casino. Therefore, the casinos will always welcome your business. If you do that in blackjack, however, they will eventually stop you because you would be making money off of them rather than the other players.

@@TheJackpotGents However, proficient poker players are more difficult to beat than random cards against a dealer. Is the skill to learn poker professionally worth it compared to counting cards and going from casino to casino?

To be a winning poker player you need to find players that are worse than you. As a professional blackjack player you would need to find a casino that will allow you to continue to play while you are winning their money. In either case, it's not an easy thing to do. If it was easy, there would be a lot of people doing it. Also, it takes a certain kind of mental attitude to be successful because in both instances, you will have periodic losing streaks which can be very stressful. Also, not every one is successful. Many people have gone broke attempting to become a professional gambler.

My wife and I visit vegas often. We play at mgm resorts. We have a joint players club account. The club makes it seem that our play is combined as opposed to being calculated separately. However I have noticed over the years my wife who plays pai how for hours gets all the offers as opposed to me where I play craps but not as long. Do you guys know first hand if even in a joint players club account the theoretical lose for each account holder is calculated separately or combined at mgm resorts. The couple times a year I go to vegas without my wife I can still use her promotions as our account is combined. But it seems it may be best to just use one account when we play together. Thank you

Getting a joint account is almost always an AWFUL idea. Offers tend to climb at a decreasing rate. So, if your ADT is $1,000 for a trip, maybe you would get $250 back. However, if the two of you have an ADT of $2,000, you might only get $400 in comps instead of $500. If you are playing some significant coin in, you will often want to use both offers even if that means each of you gets a room. I do not know if you can get a different account once you have linked them, though I suppose you could get a divorce.

If I could just piggyback onto what you suggested, Steve... If you go into a casino to pick up a free gift, such as a kitchen gadget, it is very likely -- although not a guarantee -- that it will trigger a new gambling day. If you then don't play at all with your player's card, it can cause your ADT to go down. We don't know this for sure, and it will also vary among all different casinos. However, your advice would be correct if you are just visiting the casino without doing anything to trigger account activity. Then it lowers your ADT to use your card just to play one hand of BJ or a few spins of a slot machine. Basically, cashing in a comp will trigger a new gambling day, and it is not a good idea to not play on that day if you want to keep your comps coming.

Yes. You are correct that some casinos might trigger a visit to pick up a gift as a gambling day. and lower your average daily theo. None of our local casinos do it, but others might. Try asking other players at your local casino about it.

Getting "free" gifts is usually a very bad idea unless you know the gift will not "trip" you and lower your ADT.

When talking about lumping play at one casino, must it be the same single location or would it would as long as you keep play at multiple casinos owned under the same umbrella aka MLife rewards, Caesar’s, etc.

Each casino in a multi-casino player's club will rate you separately, only for your play at that particular casino.

@@TheJackpotGents Sorry this is an old comment but if you are an Mlife or Caesars Rewards member they lump all of your play at their different properties together for comp purposes. The Loyalty Programs are centralised so even though they will show your win/loss rate for all their different properties you get the same comp offers as if you only played at one. Mlife also shows you the coin in for each property, Caesars will only give that to you on request.

Thanks for explaining ADT. Assuming I'm at a casino for at least one night and play hard, however, on the day I'm leaving, I only want to play the slot cash they are providing. I don't want to lower my ADT, so If just insert my players card to download the slot cash and remove it, will it go against me for that day?

Yes. It will count as your total play for that day.

If the club allows you to use your points as payment for purchases at the property, that might be a better way to use the points rather than as free play on the machines.

@@TheJackpotGentsthe tier points at my Casino are just a determination as to the card level that I reach. If anything, sometimes they allow player members to convert comp dollars to slot cash. So I guess if I just want to only play the free slot cash on days that I'm leaving, I'm shooting myself in the foot due to lowering my ADT☹️.

You say stick to one casino but my question is does it have to be that one specific casino or any casino on their properties. Ex: only gamble at Harrah's or is it ok to bet at all ceasars properties for the THEO?

Keep in mind that your play at one casino may generate offers from other casinos within that same company group, because casinos will often cross-market among their different properties. However, your offers will be better if you put all of your play in at just one casino rather than spreading it among several casinos within the same group.

With video poker, I assume it’s just the number of dollars per day, so if you drop down a denomination, it doesn’t hurt you unlike table games.

Mostly correct, though In a number of places, you get less on the higher pay tables. The ADT will often be different for every game in the casino and it is correlated to what you are expected to lose. You will also see casinos that make you bet more to get a point on video poker. Finding the best overall play can be tricky, though you are usually better off with the better pay tables.

Confused about doubling up with the couples comment. Can you use one card on two machines at the same time? Or do you have to alternate play (meaning my spouse waits until I’m done, then it’s her turn to play the machine)?

When you say "keep your play all in one casino." Do you mean one casino company or one specific property? For example, I'm staying in the Aria but my buddy is a dealer a at the Luxor. I was thinking I can play in both properties and get the same comps as they're both MGM Casinos. Is that a false assumption?

Generally, each casino rates its players independently. If Aria is comping your stay I believe that you should put most of your play in at that casino and a little bit at Luxor. Otherwise, Aria will look at your play and may conclude that you didn't give them enough play to justify continuing to send you comp offers.

Great advice as always. You made a valid point that you should always gamble in the same casino to maximise the comps you receive. In Vegas I have an Mlife players card. Would you recommend sticking with the one Mlife casino or does it make a difference if I switch between a number of casinos as long as they’re all Mlife?

It depends from company to company. Some won't water it down and some will. The casinos near us are all owned by the same company but each of the properties' mailers are independent of each other. But from what I have heard, that is not the case at some other places.

grouping 1play to 1 card, wouldn't you give up the mailers? instead of getting 2x15$ mailers only get 1 mailer for 15 or 25$(cause you played a little more)

Ideally, instead of getting 2x$15 you would get 1x$30 or possibly more. Casinos generally have a threshold to hit to get certain amounts on offers. If you group the play onto one card, ideally you would hit a higher threshold and trigger an amount higher than the 2 smaller amounts

@@TheJackpotGents so far 1 gaming house in AC has given me nearly 700$ free play in 1 month but the problem is its choppped up into 30 days, would it be possible to get 500-700 monthly mailers from other 7 casinos in atlantic city? multiply by 2 thats 1400$ X 7other casinos thats alot of money per month, is it possible?

I got blasted by a pit boss a few years ago at Paris for using the same card with my spouse. Most casinos don't care, however. We used to go to Vegas and get comped meals, etc. for just striking up conversations with pit bosses. What happened to Vegas customer service and generosity? Its a thing of the past.

They won't want you to use the same card at a table game, but you should be fine at machines using the same card.

at almost every casino, yes. I have only ever seen one casino that did not allow more than 1 card to be used at a time and they eventually changed the policy after too many complaints. However if you are not closely related to the other person (such as a family member) some casinos may frown upon it. But that generally only happens if a hand pay happens.

We always suggest that you play for fun and the comps are an added benefit for your play. Don't bet more than you are comfortable with in order to get extra comps.

I agree. I no longer carry a player's card and I find that I make better betting decisions. Casinos tend to not comp well for Pass and Dont Pass on craps anyway. I noticed when I played slots, they were comping me quite well. That said, I don't play slots anymore. I always lose on slots. I gave up using my cards.
