There are still many many other methods that can be taken advantage of to prevent people from hacking into home network devices such as cameras.

So I was hoping for some advice off anyone who may be able to help. For context keeping as brief as possible... My house was broken into a little while ago. Not much went missing which I thought was strange as I have a decent amount of valuables in terms of electronics etc. It was suggested that they may intent a planned return to take a "bigger haul" if you will. At first I didn't think much of it, as I added some security and have wireless cameras covering the whole outside perimeter. But recently I've noticed a few strange things around the outside of the house that suggest to me someone may have been there. I've noticed upon waking up that some cameras have been disabled or on other nights the whole system deactivated. I fear someone may have had physical access to my wifi router and the camera system sync module (with password and name on the rear) I've changed the details on my wifi/turned the WPS off and hidden my SSID. My question is, even with the extra precautions I've taken on my wifi router could someone still access it through the sync module (The name/password appear fixed) ? What further steps can I take to increase security ? without a hardwire system which can be very expensive for my size of property. The camera system I'm using is the amazon "blink". Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer constructive feedback. I have been researching on google but find it a bit overwhelming.

@@infinitymaster8872 Hi Infinity Master, sorry we didn't get back to you sooner. And yes, we are safe and we are real people working hard to help out. To answer your question it is possible someone may have gotten in through the sync module, but they'd have to have a lot of know-how and determination to do it. If you're worried about digital attacks through your Wi-Fi or cameras, have you considered looking at cameras with local storage? They connect to your Wi-Fi, but anything they record goes straight to an SD card inside.

@@asksafewise They can still view his footage. Local storage or not.

@@MidnightPodcast How could they view the footage if it is stored locally? I thought that was the safe route.

welp, make sure your cameras are working properly, turn on your TV to a regular channel, go to a friends or neighbors house and ask them to turn to that channel, compare, are your cameras in live time or are they being spoofed? also, always have something that moves or is on that your motion detector has been asked to ignore, television, something, a fish tank is nice something so you can tell if your screen is live or if its been frozen, if they freeze the feed they can gain access to your home and when you look at your app on your cell phone it appears if all is good, use hardware security for you camera security system.. use motion detection that can ignore whatever you command it to ignore, any good system has push, email and SMS alerts, so if any unauthorized motion is detected you get the notification, open app, see what's happening.. turn push notification volume to 10 on your phone so you hear it if ever your feed is dead or blank call neighbors security or police.. do NOT skimp on the system cost, use a good system that's secure and stable, also try not to strain the system, many complain because they have a monitor connected to the cams, then a computer, a hard drive, then a cell app.. use only one + hard drive, let the hard drive record everything else, so yes you want a system that records to your own physical hard drive 24/7 every cam you have.. no cloud or subscription garbage.. that way you can go back and look at any given date and time... hard drives like a 2 TB will record like a year or two, when its full get another, hand them down to your kids or grandchildren later on down the road.. research the most secure camera security system available and go from there, use long passwords and usernames, longest permitted then change now and then and use ciphering if available..do not compromise on cost or the system may be counterintuitive and someone may use it against you.. also, do not only have cams inside, you want them outside so motion detection can alert you someone is approaching your home, secure EVERYTHING in your router, as in enable mac address manual input, this way NOTHING will be able to access your router unless you manually type it into the list of accepted devices... hide your radio signal.. "do not broadcast your SSID" basically secure your router to the max... no one should be able to access it at that point, as in park outside, gain access to cameras through your router then freeze the cams and gain entry..
