I was inside a Hurricane eye when I was like 8 and I remember it was just extremely quiet and very eerie. No birds chirping or anything, just calm and sunny and everything at peace. We had been hiding in the closet under the stairs and we were able to go outside once inside the eye - it was definitely an experience

ilove thehate when irma came, it was really awesome feeling the wind and rain hit our roof and hear the trees wildly rustling. I thought to myself “this is a good time to die” very peaceful yet macabre.
I know this is a devastating storm that has, so far, claimed 5 lives...but just in context of the infrastructure of the storm...it is absolutely breathtaking! That shot of inside the eye is unreal. Even at the heart of mother nature’s most catastrophic events, there is beauty. Respect.

I’m a journalist and I spoke with a man yesterday whose daughter is missing in the Bahamas. His entire world is crumbling. That’s devastation, and those people need our solidarity.

@@abdallah4842 They do have their own personality. Every category 1-5 aren't the same and that's why so many people get killed because they think that way. I gave Katrina & Wilma personality traits. Katrina came to Florida first and she was nothing. No power loss, no tree downs, I mean absolutely nothing. However we all know how Katrina ended after she left Florida. Katrina was a vacation stop for Katrina. I always say Katrina called her sister Wilma and told her to stop by Florida because she had fun but she had to go & finish her vacation. Wilma was slow moving & just stayed in and over Florida for hours. Sounds crazy but Wilma said "Hold my beer" and tore southern Florida up. We didn't have lights for a month, etc. It was horrible but yes they all do have their own personality.
Hurricane Dorian was an extremely powerful and devastating Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, that became the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history.[1] It was also one of the most powerful hurricanes recorded in the Atlantic Ocean in terms of 1-minute sustained winds, with these winds peaking at 185 mph (295 km/h). In addition, Dorian surpassed Hurricane Irma of 2017 to become the most powerful Atlantic hurricane on record outside of the tropics. It was the fourth named storm, second hurricane, the first major hurricane, and the first Category 5 hurricane of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season. Dorian struck the Abaco Islands on September 1 with maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h), tying with the 1935 Labor Day hurricane for the highest wind speeds of an Atlantic hurricane ever recorded at landfall. Dorian went on to strike Grand Bahama at similar intensity, stalling just north of the territory with unrelenting winds for at least 24 hours. The resultant damage to these islands was catastrophic; most structures were flattened or swept to sea, and at least 70,000 people were left homeless. After it ravaged through the Bahamas, Dorian proceeded along the coasts of the Southeastern United States and Atlantic Canada, leaving behind considerable damage and economic losses in those regions. Dorian developed from a tropical wave on August 24 over the Central Atlantic. The storm moved through the Lesser Antilles and became a hurricane north of the Greater Antilles on August 28. Dorian proceeded to undergo rapid intensification over the following days to reach its peak as a Category 5 hurricane with one-minute sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 910 millibars (26.87 inHg) by September 1. It made landfall in the Bahamas in Elbow Cay, just east of Abaco Island, and again on Grand Bahama several hours later, where it remained nearly stationary for the next day or so. After weakening considerably, Dorian began moving northwestward on September 3, parallel to the east coast of Florida. Dwindling in strength, the hurricane turned to the northeast the next day and made landfall on Cape Hatteras at Category 2 intensity on September 6. It transitioned into an extratropical cyclone before striking first Nova Scotia and then Newfoundland with hurricane-force winds on September 8. It finally dissipated near Greenland on September 10. From August 26 to August 28, the storm affected several parts of the northernmost Lesser Antilles. Damaging winds primarily affected the Virgin Islands where gusts reached 111 mph (179 km/h). Extensive precautionary measures were taken to mitigate damage, especially in Puerto Rico, where one person died. Elsewhere in the Lesser Antilles, impacts from the storm were relatively minor. In preparation for the storm, the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia all declared a state of emergency and many coastal counties from Florida to North Carolina issued mandatory evacuation orders. Damage in the Bahamas was catastrophic due to the prolonged and intense storm conditions, including heavy rainfall, high winds and storm surge, with thousands of homes destroyed and at least 77 direct deaths recorded, 74 of which occurred in the Bahamas. The true death toll is unknown with 245 people still missing as of April 2020. Dorian is the costliest disaster in Bahamian history, estimated to have left behind $3.4 billion in damage.

My dad was surfing while there was a cyclone in Australia 2007, the waves were big but really good. The rain was blowing into his face for an hour, but then it stopped and the sun came out for 15 minutes. Then the rain started again But this time I was hitting the back of his head, going the opposite way. So he went through the eye of the storm

Dang, I just went on vacation to Gulf Shores in Alabama (on the Gulf of Mexico coast) and we had to leave a day early yesterday because of what now is tropical storm Claudette (was just a disturbance when it hit yesterday).
Hurricane Dorian is hitting my area in a few days. According to the government, it hit East Quebec and is either heading towards New Brunswick or Ontario and I live in Ontario. They said give it a few days and the next 3 days are gonna be storms so that might be a sign. My friend told me and my other friends all this

I was 9 when this happened am 13 now and I was living in Abaco and to this day am horrified on any little rain or storm that comes awayer way also there were tornado's in the storm to, this could not be a cat 4 horrican Rip friend and everything else❤🤴🏿🤴🏿🇧🇸🇧🇸
