Just purchased the SUB -1000 today....Can't Wait!

i have the 8" in my small bedroom. its hooked up through that single mono (red jack) to my yamaha sound bar. im in apt. so the 8' worked out great. just right amount of puch without getting that "unwanted knock at the door!"

I have two 12'' in my 5.2 system using a sony STR-550 it thumps while watching movies

if I buy the sub 1000 how much of the lower frequencies will I miss versus getting the 12? I want the 12 but it might be too big for the apartment I'm moving into soon.

How would you hook up two of these subs to a 5.2 receiver?

Does the sub have a filter that stops it from sending the frequencies below the crossover frequency to the speakers, or do the speakers still run full range?

If you dont have a sub out in your amp, this subwoofer, WILL NOT filter the low frequencies, period, this video is wrong. (and personal experience) From the manual: High level outputs are paralleled to the high level inputs with no high pass filter.

In general terms, this crossover advice does NOT apply when using a home theater receiver that has an LFE/sub pre-out and does its own bass management, which would be true of virtually all manufactured in this millennium. The receiver (home theater type, not stereo) has crossovers for both the sub and each speaker built in, and many are adjustable from the receivers' menus. Using the sub's own crossover on top of that would not only be redundant, it could cause some of the bass to be lost, opening a frequency response gap between the sub and speakers. The proper setting for the sub's own crossover should be disabled if possible and the highest frequency if it cannot be disabled. Now, if for some reason (which would most likely be the effects of reflections in the room) there is just too much high bass around where the sub and speakers cross over, then perhaps the sub's own crossover can be used as a crude equalizer. It may actually work to solve such problems, if they exist, but first set the sub's own crossover to the highest frequency (or better yet, disable it when you can), which is at least theoretically where it should be, and don't mess with it unless you feel you have to. It's more likely that you'd be missing bass from that region anyway, whereupon flipping the phase switch could possibly help, while the crossover control would not. If you need to adjust the crossover frequency to match your speakers, then adjust it in your receiver rather than the sub; try 60-80 Hz for larger speakers or higher for smaller ones to find out what sounds best and isn't missing bass. Only touch the sub's own crossover control if you've tried everything else and there is simply too much high bass--all it does is lower the frequency at which the sub gradually cuts out (at the upper end of its range), and it's pretty much a last-resort solution, not something that is preferable to mess with if you don't have to. With stereo receivers that don't do bass management, go ahead and use the sub's crossover control to match your speakers' capability, but with modern home theater receivers it's a whole different story.

This is the best demo of a subwoofer and how to use it I've seen. Well done, straight to the point and clear! I will be looking to purchase one soon. Just one question. Does the 8 inch have the same features as the 10 and 12 inch?

Can I come into the sub with the RCA input and go out to my speakers with the High level output? In other words out from my TV to the sub and then from the sub to my speakers.

QUESTION: Okay so I ordered two Sub-1500 and with no changes to the system took out my two 12s and put the two 15s and I get next to no cone movement even as max gain, cross over set at 100 and +12db on my Onkyo 646 AVR, there is just very little movement. Thoughts?

That 12 looks massive. I want the 15 and can't imagine how big that will be.

Which sub do you recommend? 12" or 15"? I am afraid the 15" sub would be the elephant in the living room however. I ordered some Pipe organ CDs and I want to feel the fundamental notes which canoccur as low as just under 20Hz.

Why is he using the crossover settings on the subwoofer when hes using the subout on the receiver. I thought the crossover settings on the subwoofer cancel out and you control the crossover on the receiver instead of the subwoofer?

Are 15 inch Titan any good speakers?

Okay, so say if I had a small amplifier and I had no way to hook this subwoofer up with any rca's or line level or anything like that. Could I plug my amp in to the back of it and not have to worry about line level?

I just bought one of the 1200 didn't know it was from you guys that i bought it lol. I've watched this video before damn you google for watching my surfing and sending me places lol.

Dayton needs to release a $450-$500 dollar sub kit with 1" thick wood all around, a 18" driver with ultra sonic ext, and a large ported enclosure tuned to 16HZ. Probably buy 2. I'd buy it instantly, and probably even buy a external amp from you guys for it too if you have one to drive it (1k+ rms).

At 2:44 it says low frequencies are not passed to satellites by the high level output, but the manual says that output parallels the input and does not use a high pass filter. Which is it?

Actually, the internal amplifier supplies power. It simply uses a signal-sensing circuit that converts the high-level signal that comes in via the speaker-level inputs to a line level signal that the amplifier can use. Crossover and volume settings are still made using the rear panel controls of the subwoofer.
