My best friend had her pony roaming free on their farm for quite a while - at least until someone reported them for it and they had to put her back in her pasture. Pony never left, because why would she?
It’s like the ducks or peacocks at the zoo the ducks stay there even though they could fly alway and the peacocks could walk right out the exit or fly out (not sure if their wings are clipped but i have seen them on high places) but they dont because like the other replies said they have everything they need why leave
I once woke up in a forest, after a fall of my horse, not knowing who I was or where I lived. My horse was standing next to me. I got on and she brought me home. Severe concussion. I'm still grateful.
Of course she knows her way back home. She's smart and have an excellent memory. Back in the 50s when I was a child I saw everyday our milkman's horse stop precisely in the same spots along several blocks and I found it fascinating. One day I asked the milkman how he had taught her and he told me that he didn't. And he said the only thing that I know about horses. He did his rounds exactly in the same way everyday and she memorized everything including the places where she could nip some delicious vegetation. He said that she could do his whole round from home and back and if she by any chance escaped in his day off, he would find her doing his usual round of work. 🐴🐴🐴
Trouble was when customers went on holiday the horses still insisted on stopping. My friends pony never forgot where the blacksmiths he didn't like was. It was knocked down and a house built on the spot but for years after he would pause and scowl, ears laid back, up the driveway.
horses like most of us like routine & consistency. I wonder what she felt like on her days off? Content having some rest, or she thought her owner is slacking around on the job & she needed to take matters into her own legs 😂
Such a well behaved horse! When I'm riding my horse down the road it always has a special routine: 1. Walk past the coffee shop 2. Eat the grass 3. Refuse to move for the rest of the day
I got a different routine: 1.refusest me put her saddle on😭 eventually she started to get used to it 2.gallops when i want her to trot😭 3.eats grass every 2 minutes
All of our horses remember the way home we sold a horse she got out of her pasture down the street and brought the whole herd that was with her back to our place during a storm. Our fences our design to break easy and not hurt the horse. We had a nice herd of horse when we woke up👍👍👍
Everybody talking bout how the horse is so smart and how all horses find their way back but we not gonna talk bout how satisfying it is when horses walk, like its asmr
Normally I hate ASMR, specifically the whispering and eating kind. However, the sound of horse hooves is so soothing. Especially when they're walking over cobblestones.
@FazeUp 22*IM GONNA TAKE MY HORSE TO THE OLD TOWN ROAD IM GONNA , RIDE TILL I CANT NO MORE IM GONNA MAKE THIS PLACE A BETTER WORLD AND ALWAYS HATE ON ANNOYING RU-vid COMMENT BOTS YEAHHHHHHHHHH* _sorry guys I edited the comment to a whole new thing the original comment was_ WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAIN MAMAAAAAA TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS
Back in th day my friend had a bown and white horse that was 23yrs old i was 16 this was 2003 or 2002maybe i had a bounce resistance CD player portable we put speakers in saddle bads that 🐎 loved 50cent and 2pac and jonnychash he would swing his butt to it if put a song on that he did not like he wouldn't move his ears would back he would scary sounds..it crazy how smart a 🐎 can be
I am a paraplegic and sometimes have bad spasms and cant sit up and have to lay across his back when out riding my beautiful boy and he always heads straight home when I lay on him that way . I think if you have ever spent time with horses you know that they always know their way home to the feed bucket. Thank goodness for horses 🐎 💚☮
I had four horses. They are an amazing gift from God. I miss them, especially my beautiful Lady. She didn't need a halter or lead when we walked together. She never left my side. ❤
My Spanish tutor who grew up in Colombia told me that her and her classmates used to go out and get trashed in the middle of nowhere & then hop on their horses who would take them back home.
@Ellie Russell This horse is rotating her ears to listen to her surroundings and for commands shes used to hearing. The horse flattening her ears back to her neck would be her getting an attitude
I don’t own a horse but i take riding lessons, a few weeks ago i had went to go get the horse i take lessons with out from the pasture and I literally had to chase him smh (dw, i didn’t run, just walked over whenever he stopped, and I managed to get him after a few minutes)
I remember hearing a story of someone who'd ride their horse, but as they got older she couldn't... but the horse would walk the same path on her own, and the community knew her so give her treats and make sure shes safe etc. Tis good story
Omg it reminds me of the dog Hatchi where his owner who was a professor had a heart attack while he was at work. When Hatchi notice that he didn't come back he started to wait for him at the train station where he would usually get off the train to go home. He waited for years. Sitting there through all the season and weather good or bad, he was there waiting for his best friend to come home. He died waiting for him. This makes me cry 😭😭😭😭
Why wouldn't she? She is obviously well cared for, so given time, would always head back to where she is safe and loved. A lot of "dumb" animals are a hell of a lot more intelligent, not to say emotional, than we ever give them credit for. Thanks for sharing this with us, xxx
This reminds me about the horses back in the day whom, if their drunk AF owners could mount them, would act as their designated driver to get them home since they knew the route anyways 😂
No most importantly is all of the safety gear can't tell you how many times I've been thrown off a horse hell even into trees but as long as a person in the damn retard they ain't going to hurt themselves you take the fall rather than bracing yourself dummies because chances are when you go to brace yourself you hit your hand the wrong way elbow gets jacked up risk it's pumped out shoulder gets damaged leg gets jammed knee popped out so the question is would you rather just get bruised and not be forced to have to wear all this safety equipment now yes I'm sure being on the road it's some kind of law over there but also it is typical to see English writers ALWAYS wearing helmets and pads if you don't think they're wearing pads take a look at their vests only thing Americans wear with stuff like that is when we're participating in the rodeo or rodeo type events because apparently English writers aren't as good of horsemeness American writers or else they would be able to ride safely without fear of injury when not using safety equipment guess they just don't know their animals that will
Where I'm from, during our grandpa/great grandparents generations many people would drink a lot (not so different from today), and those that had horses would just get onto their horses and let them take em home. They'd fall asleep on the horse, wake up at home. Great animals
@@Vexityl they did take good care of their horses. There were no cars around back then, and if you needed to go to the next town to buy supplies or even go to the hospital (which would take you easily 1+ hour on foot, carrying a sick person on a hammock, or less if you carried them in your horse), there was no better way to do so than with a horse. And great thing was that you couldn't 'crash' your horse while being drunk :P
Use to ride horses at night to the bar with family and friends on the full moon. The bars in my small western town have hitching posts for horses, we tied them up had fun in the bar then we got on the horses and they took us home we didn't need to control them. What made it so much cooler was we had reflecter bands on their ankles so cars could see them and they knew how to stop and look both ways, because it was just routine. I miss those days 💖
there was an officer that attempted to ticket an intoxicated rider, she fought the ticket in court stating the horse knew the way home and she was just a passenger, the ticket was thrown out, and the judge stated that riding a horse was probably the most responsible course of action while intoxicated, been years since i seen the video going to have to look back at it
I actually still think it’s considered a DUI legally bc technically you’re in charge of the horse and a horse can do a lot of damage. I mean that’s not my opinion but I think that’s how the law sees it most states.
All horses know the way home, unless you've driven them somewhere. Many horses are "barn crazy" meaning they'll fight you to go back to the barn, or 'home', the ENTIRE ride. 😂 I used to have a horse, Duchess, and she would run full speed to the barn as soon as I told her to go home. It was scary the first time, I had no idea she could go that fast, but after that it was like a game. 😊❤ I sure miss that beautiful girl.
Yes we called that barn sour. That gets taught from running horse back to a barn. We picked a place at different spots that we would let them canter but never back to the barn. Anytime they tried to get out of hand they were stopped and asked to calmly walk. The young horses that we were just getting under saddle were the ones that need this lesson the most.
I had a horse that would fake limp ask she could go back home. Finally I figured out what she was doing and after I made her continue to walk she would stop lol!
@@ArmorofGodtx1 that's what I've always heard it called/ called the behavior myself. Barn sour. Doing laps around an arena, and you'd always have the corner heading towards the barn, be the fastest gait, lol!
I've had the scare run home as well on our Belgians.. Lol better duck quick on the way into the barn or grab the overhead beam for a quick dismount lol.
Horse's are very intelligent more so than people give them credit for, actually they are super sensitive to peoples feelings. They are just like a very huge Dog in many ways.....know how to love and communicate with them.
@@songbird6414 technically, the person who said glue was actually complimenting if you really think about it. Glue actually can be REALLY useful! Like if you dont have nails, you can use glue as a temporary fix! Glue can also help create many good things yknow?
@@hutao9373 okay, but… no? Suggesting that an animal would be better melted down into an inanimate object that can be made in other ways is in no way a compliment? As someone who rides horses, they’re remarkably intelligent and incredibly emotional(I’ve seen a horse be jealous, sad, excited, happy, confused, frustrated, you name it). It was just a rude comment.
My grandfather back in the 1907 use to to the market to sell veggies fruit and meat to the town people. It was approximately 5 miles from the farm. After the market he stopped at the saloon and get drunk. And the horse team pulling the wagon would leave and head for home if grandfather was more than a hour. And grandfather stumbled all the home or was found the next morning along the trail. What a life.
Where I lived you could still get a dui for riding drunk but in the small town no one really cared as long as you weren't being violent. If you were being friendly someone might tell you to be safe and go about their merry way.
An actual news article: "A deputy responded to complaints about Williams riding his horse from the bar when she found him. She explained she could not arrest Williams for a DWI offense because he was on a horse, so she ticketed him. "When you get a little too much to drink, why not ride a horse?" he told reporter Brett Buffington, "It's safer that way. The horse knows the way home."
I grew up in a small country community and my best friend and I would ride all over the hillside all summer and my old guy could get us home from anywhere we went. Take us all the way in and stop at the horse trailer where he ties to get unsaddled. And he was an old guy so fairly certain he was sleep walking half the time 😂 those good old safe ones are priceless ❤
I grew up on the back of a horse and i couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve personally seen and heard of people getting lost, deciding to give their horse the navigation, and having the horse lead them right to the trailer.
That's nice but horses should not walk on tiles and concrete without hoof boots they should wear it if your walking on tiles or concrete with the horse
bro the sound of the horses hooves hitting the road is just so, relaxing i don’t know how to explain it. but it only sounded nice when they hit the road, not the dirt lol
Many years ago I was with my daughter while she got confident with her first horse, which was an ex endurance Arabian. While we were wandering through the bush (we live in Western Australia), it gradually occurred to me that we should head home, which then made me realise I didn’t know the way home, and it was getting a bit late in the day. My daughter, who was riding him, didn’t know either. The only thing I could think of was to tell Fella (the horse) to go home and hope the stories I’d read about homing instinct were true. Immediately he changed direction and briskly headed off, with me controlling his speed from the ground. He eventually got us home, but it was a very challenging journey, because he just strode over and through all the dense bushes, which I had to jump over or go around while he waited for me to catch up. My daughter, of course, had a much smoother experience. The Moral of the story is… make sure you are riding before giving the command to go home😀.
Reminds me of an incident my great-uncle told me about. When he was young, they only had a buggy and a wagon to get around. Most everyone in their community had horses and buggies or wagons and not cars. It was early 1900s and cars were too expensive for a lot of people. He said that he had picked up his girl friend with the horse & buggy for a date. After their daye, he had taken her back home and headed back home himself. Only he fell asleep. The next thing he knew, he woke up sitting in the buggy in front of his girl friend's home. The horse turned around and went back there instead of heading back to his own home. I always loved that story. LOL
I'm mostly impressed that she did so well in staying to the side of the road without sticking on the sidewalk. General directions may be easier for a horse but it took a while to train my dogs (who I trained to pull me with commands) to stay to a specific side of the street.
Whenever I sit on a horse I get motion sickness but still It doesn't bother me cause the sound their feet make when they walk/run is Satisfying to me .
She is a beautiful horse! That is adorable! Our horse has gotten out a few times and always tries to get to the nearest arena about 1/2 a mile away and always gets lost
Of course she did. Horses are insanely smart creatures who deserve the utmost respect. My last horse BO would never let anything happen to me would follow me like a dog. Miss him everyday 😥😥
My dad tells the story of when he got lost miles from home in the dense fog and just let go of the reigns and let the horse find the way home. They didn’t take a wrong turn despite my dad having no idea where he was.
my grand grand father had some sort of barn and there's horses there today we use it for some kind of shelter for some homeless people and there's still horses there i'm not really sure of their races but i think one is a berber and he's my favorite he's if i remember correctly he's 24 years old and the second one is a boulonnais and the third one i'm not exactly sure since we got her recently i've never asked about her race and the first berber and i were in a near forest where i could ride him and my phone was out of battery and there were no roads around so i turned around because we went on a straight line and all i did was follow where my horse was going until we got behind the barn randomly
For anyone saying this is abuse: Horses have a good memory, and can remember routes just as we do. Plus, the jump cuts tell me this *might* be fake anyway. Edit: Everyone’s complaining about “no one is saying this though”, like does it matter I wanted to write a comment and I’m sure some people are saying it’s abuse.
Read properly the person said "For anyone saying this is abuse " they are clearly pointing towards the Karen's who are gonna say this is abuse. Even they know it's not abuse.
Horses are realy smart. After a whail of riding her on the same trail she will have been easier and easier to move till you don't even need to tell her
TikTok Comments in a nutshell: “this is abuse”. No it’s not! Horses are cool :), I’ve owned about 30 horses in my life and they know where home is. I’m back how y’all doin if y’all come first to this comment remember it’s discussing tiktok comments not RU-vid comments this is just to remind those who kept reading remember it’s tiktok comments in a nutshell I hope y’all have a nice day 🤗
@@sparkles5789 I’ve seen a video where many people thought the horse was either being hurt to remember since I guess people don’t think that horses can remember where they live and I’ve seen that many people think the horse gets hurt because of the weight of a person on their back which I’m pretty sure is not true Edit: if you weigh too much then you can actually hurt them but by the looks of it they are not over weight (disclaimer i am not a professional horse rider or anything like that but this is just some info I’ve learned from a few people)
@@avaheck170 you will see rich women mostly renting or leasing expensive show horses bc they don’t want the actual horse, they want everything else that comes with it. ( which is perfectly fine) and elder women that lease barn riding horses. And yes the quite few families that just buy a horse for their child bc they want it and it doesn’t get proper care😢 in the long
@@xxlilys_webxx4155 exactly and it’s not even just owning a horse, it’s the monthly feed, the expensive grooming gear, expensive horse tack, the Vitamins and medications, hoof trimming or shoeing, dental care, and so much more. Plus if you don’t understand how to properly handle a horse you will create problem behaviors and some end up spending thousands on horse trainers, or sell it to buy a “better” horse.
Horses have an absolutely incredible sense of navigation. Grew up training horses, and even if you took a completely different way home and they were dead tired from going 10 miles, they will perk up the SECOND they know they’re in the direction of home, it’s really crazy.
Random question but have a horse ever chased you down because I was fking around and a horse randomly started chasing me so I ran and it chased me until i got into the house
@@ettubrute197 never had a horse do that to me, they’re a prey animal by nature so you can normally make yourself seem bigger and face them and they will stop, but I’m sure a stud horse or a mare in heat would definitely do that. Any more context? Did it just run at you out of nowhere or what?
EXACTLY!!! Of COURSE the horse knew the way home! Since this guy seems surprised by this, he’s lucky he was loping or running with the horse and it didn’t spin around by surprise to go home! I’ve fell off real real bad once when I have too much freedoms! Anyway, long story. I basically was surprised people were excited 😆 about this!!!
That's a beautiful horse indeed, my grandfather was a colonel in the army, and I first time got to ride a horse, in the military stables, there he personally taught me how to ride a horse, then later I refined myself in the school stables, went on to, become one of the best of horsemen in my school, even got a chance to escort the guest vehicle in a school NCC parade during independence day, with a calvary sabre in hand, the horse names in our schools are decided by voting between the horsemen, my first horse was "daddy cool", he was a handsome, full black, muscular horse, and as time went I developed a bond with him, and he also did with me, anytime when there is an activity where horses are involved like polo, etc. Daddy cool and I rock the show, it's a memory I cherish to this day.

There’s this story about a drunk man who rode a horse on the side of the highway. He was pulled over by the cops and he said that “the horse knows the way home” or something like that and the police ruled that it wasn’t DUI so they let him go and the horse did get him home. I don’t know if it’s true. Just an interesting story
My dad told us that his grandfather used to go to the pub with his horse (and a carriage) but if he stayed too late, the horse wouldn't wait and would go home early, so my great-grandfather had to bring a bycicle too in case the horse left him there.
