What an awesome talk on marriage. My marriage was almost 35 years. We struggled with infertility and then the last 10 years my husband had ALS and God taught us so much about unconditional love. The idea of abandonment because someone is ill just seems so wrong. I am grateful to my Lord for everything that he blessed us with and now these last 6 years since my husband passed how the Lord has been with me in every moment and blessed me so much. My husband 's family became my family. I remain living in his country as I believe that's been the Lord's will for my life. So blessed! Praise God! I'm praying for you please pray for me. BIAy and CIAY thanks Father Mike

Great advice! Here’s a couple of tips they shared at the end. Suffer well. 1. Be actively open and go on dates. 2. Don’t allow your prayer to be dominant by discernment. Every time you show up, God is there trying to transform your heart. 3. Be a woman of virtue. Be a man of virtue. Pray. No matter what vocation you’re in, that’s the person you’re called to be. Pray. Show up. Be a person of prayer. Final one. JESUS IS ENOUGH. Vocation is a calling to give yourself away, not will they make me happy or fulfill my needs. He sees your heart. He is with you in all the chaos. Rest in that & everything becomes still and clear.

This is so enlightening. After going to law school and watching this, I now understand why my tax accountant brother said that priests don't understand the way the law, the USA, and secular society see marriage. If you want to learn more, I highly recommend taking a property class. They'll go over marriage because the law sees marriage as a change in your state of being. Not in the same way, but idk I think this is a good primer. Like I said, highly recommend you do your own research.

Just wanted to draw a connection with Fr Mike's view of the Vikings not performing for his benefit because they, the players, will go elsewhere for big bucks and when there losing they are dead to him. Contrast that with what marriage should be and the way the world views marriage like Fr Mike's relationship with the Vikings.

Mothers can go home without babies, babies don’t go home without mothers. All I saw was perfection. I couldn’t believe that I had carried and created that child and it’s hard racing a premature child if you think regular babies come with manuals rest assured, premature babies definitely don’t come with manuals. And lots of things go wrong and medicines expensive and the person that could really be making the money was the one that was having the baby. So there were lots of fights early on about finances and special formula because he was allergic to the whole world and all sorts of other things. And we got through the first year and I thank God for that and we weren’t too far into the second year, and then his sister came along, my husband took a job and had him travel 200 days a year some of it out of the country. Over the next 19 years a lot of really bad things happened kids got sick, why couldn’t I keep them well?it would’ve been so much better if I’d have gone Back to work. I raised both of them all a years until they were going off to college in the last two years before they went away strange things happened. The showerhead flew off the shower twice and hit me in the head, one day when we were running printer cable I ended up with a halogen light on my back. A lot of you don’t know what halogen lamps are, but you’re not allowed to have them on college campuses because they are flamethrowers. Then in my last ditch effort to hope we could pull it together we run away with the kids over New Year’s. I ended up suffering I never in 1 million years thought I would ever ever ever suffer. My son was in college. My daughter was six months away from college but we knew where she was going. Actually to your sister school in Minneapolis and I couldn’t take it anymore. They were too many chances everything was gone I had raised very intelligent, very set on their careers. Children who I knew would go to college become the adults I knew they would be And achieve everything that they wanted to achieve. and I was right they did. But abuse means you have to go to the judge. By that time it didn’t matter what the vows said they were in a foreign language, so I really don’t know what I agreed to. And I called my dad and said you need to come and get me and he said could I wait a week well as it turned out, I couldn’t, the soon to be called me into his office. Match occurred, and he was sitting in his chair, and there was a desk between us and I’m on wall where all of the Our a bunch of little pocket knives, bigger pocket knives, and something called a Leatherman and I’m sure most of you men know what a Leatherman is for women. It is a knife that can do anything it’s got gadgets upon gadgets, and it also has a very sharp blade. And with the last insult out of his mouth, I reached over I snapped the leather man, pulled out the blade and put them right across my wrists. I have no idea how I got up the stairs. I have no idea how I got to the hospital. I only remember telling my son to call grandpa and tell him he had to come and grandpa couldn’t come until the next day and then I had another problem that would be it ugly head a year later. My mom was mad at me because I had disappointed her by doing everything she didn’t want me to do but when I was in so deep and so far over my head, I called from my dad and not my mom and she held it against me. Divorce court is not fun. My children said we’re not going to leave dad. When we come home from school we’re going home dad what did I say? What could I do? They made their choices I saw all of my son’s graduations. I saw none of my daughters she did not want me there. She got married and had two children. I found out about it when I was on the babies are us page looking for a gift for a friend of my moms who was going to be a grandmother. And the name above hers was my daughters and that’s how I found out. My mom knew my sister knew two of my brothers knew no one told me I saw my son when my dad passed away and we had to have a very official funeral, because he was a very official man. Lots of pomp and circumstance. Lots of firetrucks from our city, but from others. I was burying my father. I am the oldest other than my mother. No one knew him like I did my son didn’t speak four words to me the entire weekend. I asked him if I could have a hug, since I was leaving and he wouldn’t even hug me goodbye. My daughter didn’t come. She didn’t like my mom and dad. I haven’t seen her in 20 years. I haven’t seen my son in 10. You just can’t turn feelings off. I wish you could there’s a lot of I turn off. I’ve been alone for 21 years too scared to risk my heart my life my trust to anyone. About a year ago my sister-in-law that brother is dead and I know where he is and he belongs there. Not honesty I hope there’s a spot for my ex-husband there too. She asked me if I wanted to go to adoration and confession. I didn’t even know what adoration was. I didn’t know that you could come back to church. I figured you’ve been way as long as I had as many commandments as I had there just wasn’t a place for me. She assured me I was wrong that all that the Catholic Church was now How it had changed. I would be welcome back, so I said yes. It was the second weekend after lent . I figured confessing 50 years worth of sins would probably make me seem like a mass murderer but the father was very sweet and kind and told me he only wanted my Greatest Hits and I made a list so I knew what he wanted. Gave me my penance, absolve me, blessed me and said you are going to be so happy on Easter Sunday. And he was right for the first time in 21 years. I actually felt joy and happiness. I think I’ve missed maybe three or four Sundays since then all because I was sick, I hate missing adoration, I’m sick now and tonight’s praise and worship, and I’m not there and it bothers me. But for anyone who thinks that the commandments are just something that’s written down they’re not they are the rules. They are what you need for your path to the holy kingdom. please don’t take shortcuts please try and make the best decisions. I don’t want anyone else to look back at 66 years and find very little to smile about I know this is very long and I’m very sorry it is but this just broke my heart.

Lisa. Jesus is the reason there is a Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit has guided it to all truth for 2,000 years and promised to be with her always to the end of the age. Jesus never made the same promises to the founders and successors of the 16th protestant errors. So you come to a peaceful Catholic podcast to spread a false gospel. Explain that to Jesus. Matt 23: 9-11 does not mean what you preachers taught you it means. Read the entire Chapter for contest instead of false proof texting. Lisa I will pray you find peace and happiness in your life. God bless you.

Is it terrible to feel like you need a sabbatical from your marriage. Can you take six months off to go and do a project, and be promising to return when its finished. Our kids are grown, and we've been married 25+ years, but we're getting on each others' nerves until your 4 horsemen are becoming too familar. We've reached a point of such interdependence that it feels like parasitism, like refusing to take care of ourselves. I feel like taking a vacation away might improve our personal perspectives, and maybe further our growth. I've been praying about this, and I think God is willing to support it, either way - to stay or go. But home life is so uncomfortable, and going seems like it can be a vocation..... I could go on and on. What do you think?
@360hershey7
@360hershey7 6 месяцев назад
I think that separation, intentionally, if not officially, can be like walking away from a mess in the kitchen after a glass vase gets knocked off the counter, and some of its pieces lay broken on the floor: there's no way to fix it or put it back together if the pieces are left in two different places. Maybe a corny analogy? There's a Japanese art form that "rescues and restores" broken pottery in order to make it more beautiful with its cracks than in its original condition. They use liquid gold to glue the pieces back together. Maybe think of making a commitment to save your marriage as applying sacrificial love like the gold to glue your hearts together again. Only the enemy cares about your marriage failing. Our Lord is the One Who cares most about its success. Let God's Perfect Love be the source of the "glue!" Praying for you!!

So this is how not to do it. Meet a guy who’s in the same field of work that you are. Being a pretty modernistic woman at the time the first time I said hey, let’s go have dinner because I asked would you go to dinner? I picked up the check. I said it never happened before, but it was the first brick in the wall. Followed by a whole bunch of other bricks and then we got foolish and careless the first one I lost. The second one I would do anything to keep against his wants against my mother and father’s wants my mom taught me from the time I can remember Never get married never be a mother. She would have me chanted back to her. Get an abortion and get on with your life. You are a businesswoman. You are not a mother what have I always told you. I said no, not for you not for dad, who was a public official and it wouldn’t have been a really good thing to have knowledge of. Not even to the man who was his father. I didn’t know I could raise a child on my own, so I’d even been to our family attorney and talked about adoption, I have been so brainwashed for so long that I didn’t think I could do it. And our family attorney has had to deal with a lot of stuff. I have three brothers actually I had three brothers two of them. Have since past and then Memorial Day weekend. My future ex made a huge mistake. He told his mother I was pregnant now she knew the only chance she had of having grandchildren was the and I’m quoting.” the southside streetwalker who tricked her son.” She hadn’t even ever met me now there was gonna be a wedding. My parents weren’t coming She was going to tell my aunts and uncles not to come. There was one to take me for a dress there was no one for anything. I made my dress for forty bucks. I was told since I was no longer a virgin that I couldn’t wear a veil. I had to wear a hat that looked foolish to say the least one of my best friends cut my hair the other one baked my cake. In the end, after they had made sure that I wouldn’t get married in our church, I ended up getting married in a orthodox church as I understand. It is part of the family. They’re just a long loss relative. Almost overnight things changed every time I had to get an out ultrasound and a fetal heart monitor I was automatically admitted to the hospital. High blood pressure possible damage. How many weeks could we stay like this? We made it to 30.. an amniocentesis said, OK the babies lungs are able to breathe on their own. We can pull him. He couldn’t even get to the hospital on time. I was literally being wheeled in to have my C-section when he showed up. And this huge operating room just me my OB and his nurse and the anesthesiologist. I got to see my boy for maybe a minute maybe two. His Apgar score was horrible my mom’s words ringing in my ears. She’s going to lose that baby and be stuck with that bastard. They were my son away and my OB said it’ll be OK he’s strong. His numbers aren’t great but he’s strong. I woke up in the recovery room with a pediatrician who I didn’t know but who told me if he wasn’t getting enough oxygen in about seven hours they were going to transfer him to a Children’s Hospital, and if there’s one thing I know for sure because I’ve lived it on both sides. Mothers can go home home
