I'm new to Yasir Qadhi's lectures but this type of in-depth lecture on the Seerah of the prophet is what I've been looking for and I'm so happy to have found it through Nouman Ali Khan's lectures on the Quran. I'm naturally impatient to get on with the seerah but the background, genealogy and side-stories are enlightening.

Episode 3 Notes: What are the Sources for the Seerah • Quran is the first and then Hadiths. And then its books created specifically for the Seerah like Ibn Is’haq’s and Ibn Hisham’s, other sources are Shama'il (a genre of books that deal with the specialties of Prophet SAW) and Dala’il (a genre of books written about the miracles of Prophet SAW). Other sources are, books about the histories of Sahabah, Makkah and Medina. • Seerah was compiled by in large, before the Hadiths. • Ibn Is’haq is the greatest scholar of Seerah and he would record every story he heard about the Prophet SAW. His compilation included Isnad and was reportedly 10-15 volumes. • Ibn Hisham later came along and he summarized Ibn Is’haq’s Seerah into half its original size, since he felt it was too big. It was written around 100 years after the demise of Prophet SAW. Far before any book of Hadith. • Ibn Is’haq’s Seerah went missing since everyone begun copying Ibn Hisham’s since it was shorter. • A scholar called Hamidullah discovered 1/4th of a copy of Ibn Is’haq’s Seerah and he compared this partial copy with Ibn Hisham’s Seerah. Which proved to the detractors of Islam, that Ibn Hisham just summarized, Ibn Is’haq’s Seerah, but didn’t add anything too it. ================================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. Assalamu Alikum - Thank you for sharing your lectures for the public to view. In my opinion, the information presented is amazing and very valuable. At the same time, I need to comment that the delivery of this wonderful mashAllah material needs a lot of improvement. The speaker is rushing as if he cannot wait to finish talking (very uncomfortable to listen to) and many phrases/words are given in Arabic only without explanation. Please, remember that there are many people who do not speak Arabic.This is why we listen to an English version of these speeches. Jazakum Allahu Khayran.

Good lectures on seerah, usually don't take knowledge from people who aren't on the sunnah and have some ikhwani mentality/views probably the only knowledge you can take from him

Writing a Seerah (traveling that) is like writing your own Bible and is important to show the Quran only people how Quran is best seen in context. The greater importance is to learn and focus on the teaching in itself. Considering how Al Qoor'aan is not a history book, but an evocative book may mean that a lack of some specifics and chronological order are strengths in how it motivates. If Muhammad decided what order Quran was in or otherwise edited it, it is not the word of God. Of course, that would be an unsupported opinion. The biographies did not not come till the second and third generations of this era, but there still are remnants of the narrations of those who encountered Muhammad and their scribes. The later collections were just larger and repeated more. Plenty of other faiths include narration chains and such. Vedic and other scriptures also include mention of how the presence of the Messenger Prophets of God is the means of how some places became sacred. Human type migrations out of Africa went through Arabia. The wider language use of the 5 tribes had their genetic type in Arabia by 37, 000 years ago. Human structures of rock and hieroglyphs go back to periods before 10, 500 B.C.E. AeRB in some languages before Arabic means mixed. In others, it means out of sight of the major nations or something about how they lacked nations in the way of the superpowers of the time.

The word "Seerah" has infact been used for the people other than our beloved holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). The famous book سير أعلام النبلاء is an example. Yes, we can say that when it is used absolutely without any qualification, it refers but to him.
