Recorded in the new Like a Dragon Gaiden game, can't believe we finally got an "official" SRC2 after all the years of rumors. It is using an emulator called "pre3" and actually emulating model3 inside the game.
I am surprised that Sega still has the source code for Daytona USA 2. I am curious if Sega still has the source code for their Model 3 arcade games somewhere.
Almost definitely. SEGA has a good track record of retaining old source code for their classic games as they are well referenced in one way or another. Even in Model 1 games they still have it, evidently from Virtual Racing on the Switch. Other Model 3 racers like SEGA Rally 2 or SEGA Super GT won’t be far from the future if this is the trend that they will do it.
SCUD race and Sega Rally have licensed cars in them so those games are probably stuck in copyright limbo, but the Hornet from this game is a Chevy Lumina so idk 😂
What do you mean theres nothing to do? Theres more gameplay in 90s SEGA racers than current racing games combined. You must have only recently played these games and didn't know the originals. Collecting cars and money is just pointless filler.
Interesting, the pace car is not the Viper model from SCUD race anymore but a stock car from the game itself. I'm also noticing the different sound effects used on the car as well. The higher pitched roar of the normal level car sounds like a slightly edited version of the Hornet's engine sound/Exhaust sound. This is probably the only reason for me to get this game now just to play it.
they actually make the sound effects come from a criware container instead of the actual rom so the sound effects are considerably higher quality, they may even be the same ones as the original but at a higher bitrate!
i've appreciated daytona 2 content for so long, i can't believe it's actually available on a home console now! a home console i unsurprisingly don't own!
If they didn’t lost the daytona license on this game. That would’ve been awesome! And I really wish they’ll make both versions of this game, like battle on the edge and power edition
Nintendo would never do something like this. They'd charge you money and they'd make sure several parameters of the emulation are inaccurate to the original to ruin the experience.
I LOVE the fact that this game is getting some recognition - FINALLY! - but who the hell decided to go with Power Edition?!?! Forrest Dome is such a beautiful track compared to the generic track found here.
Power Edition has the Hornet car in a more accessible fashion. It's available in the regular version but it handles much differently to such an extent that you basically can't brake if you ever intend to place on the podium, that and accessing it requires a secret code.
As happy as I am to see Daytona 2 on consoles ( FINALLY) Why call it 'Sega racing classic?' why not something like "Sega Stock car" or something? (Just a minor nitpick, I'm not losing any sleep over the name, I just thought they could've named it a little better)
It already had an existing Sega Racing Classic (1) when they lost the Daytona USA license years ago, at least they never said Daytona in the lyrics lol
@@goilupoh my goodness, why couldn’t they release this as a Sega Ages Collection Edition on Switch & PlayStation?!👍 Still, I’m enjoying it on Yakuza Like A Dragon Gaiden so very much!!!!
i'm gonna end up buying a game i'd never get nor think about getting otherwise just to play this without having to mess around with painfully complicated emulation. i think i'd be mad about it if i didn't find this marketing trick _absolutely genius_
If the game gets an update and this mini-game becomes usable with a logitech steering wheel, pedals, and shifter, it would be an instant buy. Does anyone know if it works with that set up?
Its sad sega would release this as a game within a game but, not standalone. Sega has always been known for terrible management. $20 standalone, boom. Such a missed opportunity. Fighting vipers 2 also.. why only in another copy and paste yakuza spin-off game?
