I have uploaded another video showing a method that does not require taking the scooter apart! A fix for the Segway Ninebot internal battery, that has no power and won't switch on using just a piece of wire!
Amazing! My charger led just went red! However it would not charge normally when I unhook the cable tie wire. Charger just goes back to green. But the motor works. Brake led is extremely dim.
Save my time. I was at the step to "unbox" battery and fix bms. But it's not bms problem. Also, 12v method not tried. Yours is easier, so I tried as first. It was best move... Thank you!
Thanks for your sharing. My internal battery was blinking blue but the scooter is not turning on and when trying to charge it was alternating red green on the charger. Tried your way and it gave me a solid red on charger. After 15 minutes, unplugged the cable tie and it went back to blinking red green.
Hello, if blinking blue then battery is normally okay and so issue could be elsewhere unfortunately. I would test the battery with a multimeter if you have one. If putting out over 36v then your dash or controller may be at fault
@@Escooterbitz I wanted to test this out as I saw your charger blinking red green after 30 minutes of charging in hoping I would also be able to get it to permanently red charging after that 😅
Did you connect everything? Motor and display? When I did not connect one of theese things, charger LED change from Red (short time) to green. And when all parts were connected together it starts normal charging
Video was great! I recently bought a new internal battery for my ES2. When I plug it in I get error code 45 saying the battery is dead. The light on the battery is blinking blue as normal but when I plug it in to charge it seems to not indicate it is charging. The scooter shows there is a 50% battery left. Would you happen to know how to fix this error?
Hi, thanks for this video. I have an es25e and tried this method. The charger stays green, led on battery blinks 7 times fast and last blink is long (8th blink) It does not seem to charge. You happen to have any idea?
I have The ninebot es1 with The battery on The Out side my battery Can charge and have power but i cant turn it on do you know what to i could maybe be The control panel but i took a look at it and it looked ok but idk if i Can see if its broken
Did this just now on a Bird ES1 and it went from no light, to flashing red and charging! Still waiting 30 min to unhook the jumper, but happy that it’s working so far. Thanks a ton!
One thing to try before disassembling it for the full fix, is to fiddle with the brake when you plug the charger in. I was given an older, unused one that also wouldn’t charge, and did so and, to my excitement and surprise, it charged fully!!! 🎉 I’m thankful for this information too because the other one is completely defective, including a screen that only beeps when being turned on, so I’ll likely need this as well.
this is good to know. time to try this out. my battery was at 2 full bars and then just died on me when I was about to cross the street on it. hasn't turned on since then. that was about 7hrs ago.
@@stanclark8824 3+4mm Allen key I think. But it can be really hard to move as they use a lot of thread lock on them. Need to be careful not to round off the bolts. It does still happen though.
@@Escooterbitz Ah, that's what that is. I saw the blue thing on one. Good to know. The bolts on the other side have lost their shape it seems. I'm guessing the factory messed them up trying to either tighten or loosen them.
@@stanclark8824 If the 2 at the back really won't move I use a spanner to grab the metal spacer/warranty seal. The aluminum snaps easily and then bolts are easy with pliers. Just need to make sure nice and tight when putting back together.
Man this is a life saver I did this to a es4 that I had put up over a year for future parts if needed since I own 4 extra that I bought for my family but did this method & it’s running like new after considering as parts only & a year of storage thank you But just lately another different es4 I own battery died, did the same method & the charger light stayed red but the light on the internal battery remains steady blue no blinks just on then maybe 1-1.5 hrs later the light on the charger turns green (blue light still on) & I test it to see if it’s good & it still don’t work I ever rest the internal batter took of the cap press button then redid the method & same process relives it self with the blue steady light & no result Any suggestions or just consider the battery a lost cost & replace it
Hey, Glad that it has sorted one out for you. Yes it depends how for you want to get into repairing it. If you have it open already and have a multimeter? Next stage would be to test the individual groups of cells to see if they are equally charged, if a set is very low or dead they would need replacing. Thanks
Hi Escooterbitz, My es4 will not turn on. It has been turned off for 1 year. Ekstra battery on stem is almost fully charged from last year, but the scooter will not turn on. And if I plug in the charger it flashes from green then yellow and then red. The color on the charger light remains flashing between the colors. What can the issue be?
Does the jump method also work on external ninebot batterys? Also done this on my internal battery and is now flashing blue after charging but when I went to plug everything up to test it all the connecter wire for the battery to the controller made a strange noise when I went the plug it in and now the plugs are slightly damaged inside any ideas? Thanks
Hi, Yes same method on external works but need to test which of the 4 charging pins to use. When reconnecting it's normal for it to spark as fully charged, I just carefully clean of the connection with a pin until it fits again.
Do you have an example on how to do this on a Segway Ninebot F30 scooter? The battery set up and cords are different and I’m not sure where to put what
Mn como tu consegue ser brabo assim nesse ramo tem resposta pra quase todas as pergunta. O meu eu fiz esse processo e continua a msm coisa a luz da bateria nao pisca será q tenho q substituir?
Hey man idk if you are gonna read this but i need your help, i disassembled my ninebot and the battery was blinking blue, the issue is that the scooter doesn't turn on and it doesn't show any sign of life as for battery charging i think it's working because once it had 2 dots and now it has 3 but the scooter doesn't seem to turn on, if you could help me I'd appreciate it a lot. There are no services around me to fix them so it's entirely up to me.
Hey, sorry just seen this. If the battery is okay (double check it with a multimeter if you have one) the next would be an issue with the controller. As you connect the battery to it can you hear a click as it powers the controller? Cable to display in good condition? I would suggest a cheap multimeter next as you can double check battery and then check if power being supplied to the display
The internal battery was not showing any light and it was dead. I used this method and it started charging the battery. The light on the charger was solid red while charging with the jump cable and the light on the battery was flashing red while it was charging. I left it like this for 35 minutes and disconnected it and then tried to charge it the normal way without the jumper cable like you showed in your video after 30 minutes, and it did not charge. The light on the charger stayed green and the battery had a flashing blue light, not red. I connected everything together on the scooter including the dashboard and it came on but still wouldn't charge through the port. I was getting error code 45 and the phone app was telling me I should replace the battery even though it was charging with the jumper cables. The app on my phone said I had 40% charge, but I'm only able to charge the battery with the jumper cable outside of the scooter. What should I do? If I charge it to full with the jumper cable, will I then be able to charge it normally or do I need to hit the reset button on the battery?
Hi my battery appears to be fine with an output of 36v tried this hack and light goes solid blue but when you unplug the charger there is no solid or flashing blue light and when you press the reset button on pcb the red light flashed about 6 time then a solid red light then no lights any idea's please???
I would guess that you have a faulty set of cells (possibly number 6 due to the flashes) you would need to test individually with a multimeter but at a guess you have 9 packs at 4v and 1 at 0v giving you the 36v.
Thanks for your quick reply I have checked all batteries and they appear all ok my mistake the output from the batteries is 43v Can you tell me how I would know if either of the pcb is faulty ( the 2 round ones or the one in the metal casing) is there any thing I can check on these boards to eliminate if they are d=faulty?? @@Escooterbitz
I tried this on my ES1. The first step (jump) worked (although the battery was flashing both the red and blue light at the same time). However for the second step, the battery only flashed the red light 4 times and then nothing and the charger was on green light and the I couldn't turn on the display of the steering. After both steps, I measured 14.5V on the battery (instead of the nominal 36V). (My ES1 hasn't worked for a couple years now and originally I had error code 23 or 21, not sure which. I didn't know this trick back then.) So much for so little use. It's a shame.
@@Escooterbitz Ah yes thanks. Though is it normal that when I connect the charger, the display on the steering doesn't even turn on anymore ? I click on the on/off but nothing happens. Or maybe I should do the first step (jump) longer ? What does the jump actually do ?
@@tanguydelooz2881 Yes it won't do anything at that voltage, jumping the negative bypasses the bms to try and bring the cells up to a high enough voltage for it to work normally again. I would try leaving it longer but as I say in the video do not leave it unattended and stop immediately if you feel any part of it getting very hot. 14.5v is very low so likely that the cells will not recover or that some groups have failed and others are active. But worth a try, good luck
hello i wanted to ask if you unplugged the charger first before removing the jumper? or you did it the same way he did and not unplug the charger after removing the cable tie and plugging everything back in?
My ES4 e-scooter has an exposed wire located: behind front tire / bottom of long stem. This wire snapped due to the sharp edges & folding the scooter. What is this wire and How can I replace it? Is there a video, link or diagram 😩😳
Hi, I will see if I have a damaged one and make a video. It's the main cable for the motor. To repair properly you need to remove from the scooter and make a good repair to all of the cables.
@@Escooterbitz Thanks for your response. I cannot believe that there are No videos or diagrams regarding this fix. I’ve contacted Segway and all they can say is: “it’s a tricky procedure” 😳🙄. This is a known problem on All exposed wires / cables on e-scooters rubbing against sharp edges. Eventually they will sever. BR Harry
so when i try this my charger light is still green but the bms light does start to blink when it was previously not doing anything, BUT it blinks a few times in a smooth pattern then kinda sticks for. a longer time then bak to the pattern. help?
Strange that your charger is not changing? No power from it when connected back up? I don't have the specific bms error codes. Unfortunately next step would be to open up, first try the reset button and then would be testing individual cell groups.
@@Escooterbitz so I followed your tutorial and it did charge the battery. Though the blue light is not flashing :( and seems that it's no longer chaging. Saw in another vid that I think I might need to replace the battery :/
Just tried on an ES2 that was sitting in the garage for 1 year. First the battery light flashed red and the charger flashed green/red(trickle charging) so I left it about an hour, and finally the charger turned red. Battery light was still flashing red. I let it keep charging overnight and until the charger light was green in the morning, but the battery light was off, not flashing red or blue, just off. I tried removing the jumper and reassembling to charge normally but nothing. So I put the jumper back on to try to 'wake' the battery again and the battery light flashed red 3-4 times then I smelled the electrical smoke smell and the light on the battery went off. I just killed my battery, huh?
Hi please advise, 4pin socket connect to black or negative correct? Then jumper to negative also or to positive (the 2 pin) So that is connecting minus to minus or minus to plus ?
I got mine to turn flashing blue after 30 mins. After I removed the wire and plugged the battery back in the charger stayed green vs before it was red.
This is also what I got. I think it means the battery is gone and needs replacement. But the batteries are out of stock at segway and have been for quite some time.
Hi, Does it turn on the scooter now? I have had them solid blue and working before. If not you may need to press the internal button to reset bms. That requires opening the top of the battery to access the button.
Was habe ich falsch gemacht? Danke!
I would expect it to be working with 38v but it could still be that one of the groups of cells is dead (4v away from 42v) no lights from bms at the moment? Unfortunately the next step is to open the battery. First try the reset switch and then test individual cell groups.
@@user-qr7js5ll6j It has been a while since I made the video. If I remember correctly error 18 is just because the motor is not connected? It should be flashing blue but if switching on I would connect back up and try
Battery flashing blue is good. The charger going red/green normally means voltage is still low but is trickle charging. Wait and it will hopefully go red and then leave for a full charge.
@@Escooterbitz yes. I left It overnight and in the morning It was fully charged and now is running and charging normally or almost because after I use I put it to charge and It charges backward... Then I unplugee and wait some minutes and I try again and It charges normally. Strange.
I have the same reaction. But... Did you connect everything? Motor and display? When I did not connect one of theese things, charger LED change from Red (short time) to green. And when all parts were connected together it starts normal charging
@Escooterbitz okay i did that but the battery stays solid blue and charger whent to solid green nothing else happens the scooter display won't turn on either when i plug it into the control board
@@subliminalhobo The next step would be to reset the battery by pressing the reset button on the bms. That means removing the black silicone at the connector end and unscrewing to access bms. If that doesn't cure it then possibly bad cells and best to swap battery unless you are able to properly repair.
@Escooterbitz can these batteries be used safely if they are out of balance? I only know they are out of balance because i installed the "nine dash" app and it shows it on there. The battery powers the scooter and i can ride it etc... but im just nervous about using it.
@@subliminalhobo the Bms is still active and will try to equalise and shut it down if too far out of balance. Some tolerance is allowed so if it's running you should be good but defective cells will probably continue to deteriorate
Yup!!! This works!!! I have a Bird ES1-300 and I let it sit too long without recharging. But I followed your instructions and it’s charging again. Cheers
I left mine charge for about an hour with the red solid light on the charger, and the battery light blinking red. After I reassembled it, the chargers light was blinking red and green. So I took it apart and did the wire jumping and it was charging solid red again. Did you do the same thing as me?
How the hell do you get it out the thing why has no one on the Internet made a vid. Xan anyone help me I no how to fix it im sure but I just don't no how to get the battery out and every vid just skips over that bit lol. Anyone no
Hello, I can make a video when I get some time. But remove all screws from the post. Looking down both ends you will see plastic covers that have a notch in them with cables coming through. Use a screwdriver or similar to spin the covers to line up notches with rail on inside of the tube. Then the battery and controller are loose, you can shake and the will release.
@Escooterbitz yer that's what I've done I guess mines just stuck lol thanks so much for your comment and don't worry cheers im done with that trash but if you did make the vid I'm sure it will get views as in my search I couldn't find any vids on how to do. Thanks so much for trying to help tho I hope you have a blessed one
Hi, I have a very similar situation however my battery is showing v low voltage and yet still continues to flash red, I was told that my battery could potentially be asleep wich I see your method here would rectify however I'm apprehensive to attempt given the battery still flashes red ..could I have a dead cell ? And if that were the case, would the battery still flash red ? I am yet to see a blue light at all, any help would be appreciated 🫠
Sooo tried this because I had to, haha, and it's worked 😭 thank you so much ! As far as I'm aware, the internal battery never properly charged as the external one was doing all the work, but after using this method, I restarted the battery, and it looks to be charging as per normal thank you thank you thank you !!!
I was searching the internet for this comment. Thank you! Having the same Isue... and thanks to you I'm gonna try and charge my battery. It has a blinking red light.
