Looks pretty well made , and just looking at the GT1 specs , it has a 150 KG payload , it is obviously built well to take that sort of load , when many others are way below that payload figure.

Power/range to weight is terrible. If they fix that I think they would have a winner (or 2) on their hands. They both need to lose more than 30lbs!

The price is "high" because of the fit and finish. If you compare it to the Nami Burn E-2 (non max) its currently $100 more but it beats it in every single fit and finish category but has similar performance specs.

Great review, and killer scooters. Way out of my price range, but it's great to see the competition at the top end. What happens at the top end now will be the next gen of the tier below it, and two gens away of the tier below that, and so on. I have to imagine in like 4-5 years most scooters worth buying will offer something similar to this at the very least.

Good scooters in a lot of ways but being so bulky and heavy defeats a bunch of reasons to choose a kick scooter over, say, an electric motorbike
@championxxlNL
@championxxlNL Год назад
@@JamesFaction an electric motorcycle is a hell of alot more expensive. A first Gen low powered zero second hand is already more expensive, let alone a new one. Also a motorcycle you don't just store indoors, this one although quite bulky for a escooter is still something you could but in the hallway of your home for example without it getting really in the way
@JamesFaction

@@championxxlNL more expensive? Not true at all. You can get something that does more for the same money.

You guys always make entertaining and informative videos, without exception. Thanks for your efforts in promoting the LPEV as a viable everyday transport option. YES! Finally, turn signals where they can be seen. Great job Segway, and thanks ESG for highlighting this feature. Hopefully more manufacturers will realise that e-scooter riders value visibility probably more than just about any other road users because we're hard to see but arrive at places much faster than most motorists are used to seeing from conventional cyclists. I love this step forward, which should become the standard. If we all speak together, maybe more manufacturers will listen.

Awesome review guys! The pair look like beasts, awesome cruisers with the ability to light it up when needed. What were they like moving them around in the garage, living room, hallways etc...are they about the same foot print as an Ebike for example...they do look enormous. ..I'm thinking that 100lbs is too heavy for most riders to move around their homes...unless they're just rolling into their garages...also maintenance on something this large could be tricky. Are the tires proprietary or were they a brand people can buy locally? Solid review...not for me on the third floor without an elevator but interesting nonetheless :)

The tires are made by CST, (Cheng-Shin Tire) the world's largest manufacturer of scooter tires. I haven't seen this tread pattern before, but the 10 x 3.5 inch size is pretty standard for beast scooters. They definitely need to be rolled everywhere. With a bit of a grunt, you can hop the front tire up a curb when pushing, but it takes a little technique and all of my strength to pop it up. Fortunately the deck is high enough that the rear rolls right up after the front without the belly of the scooter scraping (at least on the normal looking curb in front of ESG). -Paul

@greenwave819 11 месяцев назад
the tires are 11x3.8 and they are superb street tires. the scooters are quite heavy and not very easy to move around: for example I move mine up 2 steps from my garage into my house using a 10x2 board. even with this board it is not a small task, I have to adjust the scoot so as to swing it thru the doorway

The GT2 is interesting to me. I like that they're using the original non-Ninebot Segway's locking system. Also, there's a Segway authorized dealer near me. The issue with all of our cool toys as PEV owners is that unless you are skilled in repair or have a trusted source, these could become expensive parts for sale after a while. I sold my Segway i2 ($5K+ used purchase price) for $400 after the batteries ($1K each) died. Now I have two electric unicycles and an e-sk8 that I can't even add air to without help. So I'm that person who needs a repair spot and that weighs more on my decision than super specs.

I have a question about the Apollo city pro Considering it doesn't have a very good range versus other scooter of the same price do you think its worth waiting for the v3? And is it possible to maybe in the future change its battery for a higher capacity one of the same dimensions as technology evolve? Yeah, that was a surprise Curt. I feel like the lower top speed was intentional on Segway's part, though the top speeds we hit were below the firmware limit of the scooters. On the GTs and the BURN-E 2 I never found myself mssing the top speed, for any practical use. Thanks ESG for making my decision that much harder (A GOOD thing).... I have a GT1 on pre order and was considering going the later to be released p100S for better portability yet after seeing your review it's making me re-think my options. Perhaps I can live with the portability factor considering the silky smooth ride quality. Perhaps I can use a ramp to put the GT1 into the back of my 4WD ? Now thinking of just keeping the pre order after all and give myself the headache of choosing between the Apollo City Pro and Segway p100S as my quick (grab & go) touring PEV for holidays, etc. The future of PEV's looks so very exciting, cannot wait to see what is unveiled on the Apollo front come 2023 to rival Segway's new line up. I like this trend that more people are getting into owning scooters and not sharing and dumping one to a side of the road after using. This is a clever way to reduce the heavy traffic and amount of cars on the road. Scooters are very affordable to own and maintain than a car. But the downside is they aren't much reliable than cars yet. You can buy the best well build scooter in the world but you'll have to get rid of it after year or so. And also the disciplines of scooter riders should improve. Otherwise they'll hit pedestrian over and over again.

Hey ESG would you guys consider doing minimum range tests on the scooter like ginger on wheels, by going on highways or long roads at the highest speeds nonstop till battery dies
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide 2 года назад
That's a channel we don't follow, so I'm not sure what they do. To me, a true minimum range test would be to literally hold it at full throttle from 100% to 0%. So 61 mph on the Wolf King until the battery died, (or the motor controllers fail) or 58.8mph on the NAMI, etc. I'm not sure how useful that would be, since it's not something people are likely to do. We can estimate range at that speed as (battery size in Watt-hours divided by peak power times top speed: (2520Wh/7200W peak power)*61mph = 21.4 miles, but the actual minimum range would be less because the standard peak power calculation uses a nominal voltage of 72V while top speed only really at full charge of about 84V minus voltage sag at full throttle. So we'd need to know the top speed at nominal voltage to make a better calculation. If we estimate top speed at 72V to be 50 mph, then we get 17.5 miles which feels like the right number of miles we'd get averaging 50 mph (starting at 61 and then sagging our way down to 40 and below) The next step down from sustained full throttle, I suppose, could be to run it at a pre-designated speed like 35mph for the scooters that would go that fast. It would need to be a loop or be flat in order for it to be scientific, with all of the scooters covering the same terrain, without an altitude-gain penalty. A chase truck would also be needed in order to fight the urge to cheat, by riding home with some small % remaining, and then make up for the cheat by estimating how many miles might be remaining in the battery. Cut-off varies wildly, some go for miles after 0% and some cut off before 0% so you have to ride to cut-off to really know how far a scooter goes. We always keep going until cut off and then push the scooters home from somewhere within the 1.6-mile range-test loop. With the Wolf King GT we covered 55 miles with speeds of 25 to 30mph between stop signs and stop lights on city streets. We used the same speeds for NAMI and the Segway GT's always using the same loop with the same amount of stop and go, the same amount of elevation change per loop, and a net elevation gain/loss of very close to zero. So I guess what I'm saying is that the important thing would be to do it scientifically, or it wouldn't mean anything to compare one scooter to another that way. The next best thing would be to take our range number, divide by 3 (for very fast scooters) to get the minimum range, and then average the minimum range with our range to get an estimate of what it would do at 35 mph or so. I come up with about 36 miles. I'll give some thought as to how we could use our existing data to come up with a range calculator. It would also be useful to be able to do it based on rider weight. -Paul

If you can somehow get an equation to estimate a scooters range so people can do it themselves before buying any scooter. Hi Kaioken 99., I just saw your message now. Solid tires on this scooter would be absolutely terrifying! There just wouldn't be enough traction to handle the power or the weight. A larger version of Segway E22-style tires would work though. The E22 uses a polyurethane foam insert inside of a normal tire. It gives 90% of the ride experience of an air-filled tire without a chance of getting flats. The downside is that the foam eventually sacks out and needs to be replaced. It also costs a little range to use foam-filled tires. -Paul

Hi Poom, There are many opinions about what voltages are safe for humans to touch. Some (OSHA in the USA) say anything above 50V needs special care, and others say the limit it 60V. The eSC racing scooter uses a sub 60V system so that the riders could crash a scooter and then still pick it up and continue racing without having to go through tech inspection first. There are other variables too, like wet bare hands vs dry bare hands. For practical purposes, there are tens or thousands of >60V and 72V scooters out there, and I haven't heard of any rider injuries, as the batteries are well protected by the scooters and the BMS and charging ports seem to do a good job of keeping everyone safe so far. -Paul

L-shaped scooters are struggling in stability department, finally Segway did it. I will upgrade my G30 II Max for GT1 or GT2, that's for sure. Hard to decide between them. Next time you should test offroad usage, this was really lacking from these tests, but also wet braking would be easy to simulate on a road. My only complain is the 11' inch tyre. I think, if not a portable scooter is designed from the get go and the overall weight is that high - they should increase tyre size for better pothole management. Dualtron City shows increadible nimble ride, just because of that 15' inch tyres.

the speaker playing different engine sounds and simulating revving and accelleration's one of my favorite things about my G30. I don't use it much but sometimes I do and I always get strange looks from people lol. One night around Midnight I was riding to the store and had it full blast on V8 mode. There was a homeless guy sleeping on the edge of the sidewalk who I didn't see. He heard it and woke up yelling thinking he was about to get run over by a motorcycle. I felt bad so I put on the breaks and went back to check on him. Took him a minute to understand what had happened. I ended up showing him all the different engine FX's and revved them all. He thought it was hilarious. Most people think it's neat but pretty stupid when I show them. I've gotten some good laughs when I sit there revving my scooter like it's a Lambo. Mostly everyone's disappointed when I tell them the top speed's only 18mph. And no shocker here, but females aren't impressed at a grown man revving a scooter like he's some sort of bad-a$$. While it's a gimmicky feature, it's not totally useless. On max volume it's definitely loud enough to possibly keep you safe as people will hear it. Sucks Segway won't let you pair 2, I'd love to set up dual exhaust lol. And it actually sounds pretty decent for playing music. My regular BT speaker sounds much better, but this gets fairly loud and sounds pretty clear. And my other speaker won't do the engine thing. You can link 2 of them to an iPhone or Android for music if you really want to rock out. Downside, the battery life's horrible and it drops connection randomly and starts talking to me in Chinese, I'm guessing telling me I need to pair it or something. The v8 sound on full volume would be much cooler on the GT2 going full speed. I need to figure out a way to afford one.

Before being sick, I got 24mph top speed but after, I now get 27/28 mph. I’m thinking that if I loose about 20kg more, I’ll easily go 30mph. So in short, starve yourself to get more speed 😭😭😭😭 no I’m joking, please don’t starve yourself. I guess I’ll be happy going 28 mph for a max of few weeks, until I put the weight back on.
