Very scenic view! Thanks. My background is Forensic Engineering. I am curious to know, just beyond most platforms there is a turnout/switch with a couple meters of track and it dead ends. What is the purpose of that? They are put there for a reason.

Imagine this is your daily train to work :) But I am surprised that this train is so slow. I always thought that trains in Japan were fast. I know that is a suburban train, but in my country, Poland (which is much poorer and less developed than Japan), suburban trains are about twice as much faster. How is that possible? 🤔

In UK we call it a flat tyre, because the running surface (the tyre) can be removed and replaced thereby re-using the centre of the wheel.
@rgsrails

When the wheel stops, it grinds a flat spot on the surface. Do that long enough like in an emergency stop, it'll develop flat spots quickly.

>;;;;;,;;,;;;;;;;;;Yeah ! Util I'd noticed the the catenary I was wondering what type of steam engine was on the point. Because the 'chuffs' were so oddly simple, I was seeing like an 0-4-0T or, an 0-6-0.. and since Japan still runs a bunch of steam anyway, mymodelRRtrainbrain accepted it for a half of a minute as steam and they'd put a camera on the pilot beam !! ;;,;;;;;;;;;,,;;;;< Anyway, it's a wonderful hill laden narrow-gauge, Elec. light-rail, traction video !!

There are 2 things that I find odd about that line. One is the stub tracks that aren't long enough to even store a single car. The other is the position light signals like the Pennsylvania Railroad, especially since they have color light signals too.
@cthitorikamonen2874
@cthitorikamonen2874 10 месяцев назад
1. The stub track is built with the idea that if a train runs out of control, it is better to hit a buffer stop than to be hit by another train. 2. Seibu Railway uses 5-light signals because there are lines that are crowded with many trains. Although it may not be necessary for the Seibu Chichibu Line, the signal system has been unified.

The clickety-clack almost sounds like a square wheel on one of the trucks. Or maybe it just reminds me of the same sounds that a train made in the 1950's in East Germany. Interesting that the station announcement is also in English. This doesn't seem like a touristy area. Though it is very picturesque and worthwhile seeing.

This is not touristy area. It's one of their commuter light rail systems, paid by fare only..
