3 Year review of my Subaru WRX & STI Seicane 8.1 Android Headunit/Radio
In today's video, I review the Seicane Android 8.1 Headunit on my 2016 Subaru WRX. This unit will fit the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 (2021 too) Subaru WRX and STI. It is a direct replacement, so all you have to do it remove your stock head unit/radio and center console, and the Seicane unit replaces it! This video is my 3 year review of ownership, issues, problems, and all the quirks you need to know about!

I've had my Subatu wrx for 7yrs now and still have the stock head unit. I dont know how I've tolerated it. I watched your original video long ago before I really discovered your channel. I'm glad to see this update. It will impact my final decision.

@@bukchoiii I went with the seicane in December. Now that I've used it for a couple months I wish I never bought it. It's so glitchy. Sometimes it doesn't turn off with the car. And you know how when streaming from your phone the music gets quiet momentarily when you get a message notification? Well after the notification the music then increases in volume by about 30%. I already shipped one seicane radio back to China in mid December to get a refund and i still havent got my money back because it's stuck in customs.

@@buyadriver I started my research with seicane, but they were going to charge me $110 shipping to Canada, thank God for that. I then stumbled upon idoing, much better processor and ram, support seems better as well, it was worth the $600 cad. Just installed it today, runs pretty damn well.

I went with sygav which essentially is the same thing but located in the US and has excellent support. But at 600 for their higher model it was hardly cheap. Going on a year and it's been amazing. I hated the original radio with an extreme passion that I often threatened to sling it through the local subaru dealership window.

Thanks for dropping brief info on YOUR head unit's Company. I prefer stateside Audio AD's. Current whip-'17 XV Premium; bought used last month. Minus the OEM Sounds, as close to perfect as I've ever had.😂 I'm going to check out your head unit line. Hopefully they have something a little lower than yours ($350.⁰⁰ - $400.⁰⁰).

The apps on my unit H201 have started to crash about 2 years later (after some google updates). I was factory resetting it and it was ok for another 6 months. Now 3.5 years later everything crashes within a week. Seicane told me to buy a new unit. Instead of providing me with firmware update

My Netflix app will load and play, but I get no videos. Only sound. I'm trying to figure out how to get videos to play again. They used to play. Prime used to play, RU-vid used to play, etc...

I have a question since I'm looking at Seicane. Does it accept a Canbus input and display original car info including doors status, AC etc. ? Also, how good is the stock music player? Does it have a decent file system that can list music from USB by Artists, Album, Song etc ? I've tried 2 units which work well but one has a horribly basic player.

I bought mine about $367can. Never worked more than 2 or 3 minutes... then display goes blank.... support didn't help much... didn't refund or replace the item. So never again !

I know bluetooth calling on the stock radio was pretty bad also I got the dasaita one and everyone I called said bluetooth was perfect. not sure if the harness that comes with it hooks up to the cabin mic also but I never installed the external mic. that came with the radio. my only gripe and its not a big one right now is no xm radio :( even tho you can but the app i just with it would hook up to the cars xm antenna.

Don’t buy any product made by Seicane. They don’t work as advertise. You will pay for the shipping is you return their defective product. I spent USD 103.00 to return their defective product.

The only issue I have with my Seicane was the Subwoofer output. I don't have that independent subwoofer amp control. There's a fader for it but the "Green" RCA output plug has no output signal to my subwoofer amp. i had to use the Left or right RCA output which means I cant really EQ my rear speakers properly as it is tied to the sub amp. Any suggestions?

Any android headunit is a piece of shit. Don't waste your money and look for JVC,KENWOOD or Pioneer

Mine is a piece of garbage. Constantly crashing and constantly requires tweaking, especially with Waze. Blue Tooth is crap. Do not recommend. (a 30 year IT professional)
