6 month update: the Seicane system is in the trash where it belongs, and I put the stock radio back in the car. The steering wheel buttons worked half the time and the screen was still not visible from too much glare. This kind of blatant disregard for limited resources on our planet is shameful. Seicane used the same amount of raw materials as Kenwood or Pioneer, but instead of creating something that works for 20 years, they just fill up the landfills.
Thanks for the review and the update - I was about to pull the trigger on my Mazda 6 but am not now. I know the major manufacturers are more expensive but so is research/dev/testinga and I think that is what makes them worth it.

Once I finally got all the kinks worked out mine it worked well for about six months too, then the radio module died. It's just taking up shelf space in the garage now.
As a fellow you tuber (and Seicane reviewer) I love the style and flow Of this review video (especially the snaps). My experience with the radio (7inch universal double DIN) was lousy. Really crappy Bluetooth quality and poor user input/output. I left a negative review in my video. And thanks for the 6 month update!
I have the same head unit (not same brand, mine is older with the 4.4.4 Android on it, but I have researched and found all of these to be the same) in my 2006 Mustang with a 2012 Mustang steering wheel for radio controls. The steering wheel buttons are usually set in two different pins of the car's stereo harness (the big harness), but the Android unit has only pin hooked up for this. I modded the radio's harness (main harness on the radio) by taking one of the wires that I wasn't going to use and moving it to the correct pin so that I could have all of the buttons on the wheel working. I believe Fusions do the same thing, just look at for a wiring diagram for you car with pin out for the radio so that you can figure out what pin you need for the non working buttons and look at the radio's harness and see if you have a pin there. On top of the radio you will see Key 1 and Key 2 just make sure these are on the correct pins for your car's harness, if not switch them to the correct pin or like in my case I was missing the second wire, so I took the blue power antenna wire and moved it to where the Pink wire for Key 2 should have been. The way steering wheel controls work is based on resistance, when you press a button the circuit will close with a different resistance value thus the radio interprets that and does the function you have selected. So make sure you have the pin for Key 2 along with ground so that you can make sure the circuit closes correctly.
The 3 buttons (Phone, Media, OK) don't work because of the SYNC module, you need to unplug that module which is located at the rear of the center console. Once that module is unplugged those 3 buttons should become programmable.
Excellent video. I like your run through of disassembling the dash and using a plastic trim tool. Very professional. The fact iPhone won't connect via the cable is due to an incompatibility with iPhone and Android. Not something Seicane can fix. I purchased a Seicane system for my 2008 F-150 after seeing positive reviews. My only gripe so far is the back light for the buttons doesn't work when it should mimic the dash lights. To be honest I haven't been bothered to troubleshoot. We shall see.
Nice review but , I got the one for the Toyota RAV4 2008. Looks great. The unit need the CANBUS and it did come with it. It took 2 month Spring Holiday was the issue. Then no direction on how to install and connect the Harness. I got so mad it I did a factory reset and lost the Nav , software. The customer service sent a link to fix the problem. My volume, search and mode buttons work but the cell phone ones don't work on the steering column. The also got the same backup camera but have not installed. The got the WIFI dongle too but can't use with Verizon because it GSM vs CMDA. i am going to At&t to try them . Thank you for showing how to connect the backup camera.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, it looks like maybe Seicane didn't program their CANBUS decoders to accept those other buttons. On the ford, I also got only volume, search and mode steering wheel buttons, not the phone buttons. The camera works pretty well, but the reverse signal also comes from that CANBUS decoder, so I had mine cut out once in a while. Then after a while when the weather warmed up it magically worked better. I guess the moral of the story here is: if you don't want problems, you have to spend twice as much money and get Pioneer, Kenwood, or Alpine.
Hey man- that was real nice install u did. Seriously looks good. And i like how u took the extra time to install the extended USB connectors. Radio looks damn near like a stock Ford unit (especially with the chrome trim that matches the interior)
It's such a shame that they can go to the trouble of producing units that can look original in your Car. I have 2004 Mercedes which would be brilliant with some 2019 technology and they have a product that would be perfect, but in a day and age where you can access reviews and the majority are negative, a Company needs to step up a bit better than Seicane can obviously do. I bought one 3 years ago. Once in a while it freezes. I have to reset from the pin hole button. Then i want to change some settings and it ask me some password. I contacted them and they're English is weak so they keep telling me to contact a installer. I need the password not an installer Its installed since 2017. I need some password to reboot it.
The old adage of Price, Service, Quality--pick two applies here. They make a lot of different units, and you can get an amazing deal on an older unit from them. Where things break down a bit is that like it or not there is a language issue. It is a Chinese company, and I suspect if you could converse in Chinese it would be easier to get customer support from them. Still, in my experience they are responsive, and if you buy off Aliexpress you get some extra buyers protection. The reviewer mentions half the price, but more often than not we are talking 5 to 20% of the price you would pay elsewhere. The glaring issue is very common across many models of cars during certain times of the day. You might also consider that returning any product to China is usually far more expensive than the shipping cost from China. It's part of the risk you take. What you paid was less than pretty much any stand-alone backup camera system. As for the steering wheel controls, I suspect you need to delve a little more deeply into your steering wheel interface. But, why even bother when the controls are 6 inches further from your right hand. I would also point out that the fact they can provide you with a car specific wiring loom is real value, and that another major head unit selling site would charge you almost the total price you paid with shipping just for such a loom. I do find that it is sad they are getting the advertising they pay for. And I find this review is an example of such. Their newer Android versions are better than what you see here.
I agree that the plug and play installation is an awesome feature with the Seicane unit. If it worked right, I would say it's a really good deal. If I spent hours researching the steering wheel interface and perhaps re-wired the way it connects to the radio, maybe it would work consistently. Most consumers buying a radio aren't looking to become a mechanic, software engineer, a hacker and learn to speak Chinese. They just want to listen to music in their car. You shouldn't have to spend hours correcting shortcomings of the manufacturer. If you're a tinkerer and you enjoy spending countless hours fixing your radio, sure - Seicane is fine. If you just want something that works, go for Pioneer or Kenwood.
@@LabCoatPaul I will agree to disagree. Pioneer units in my experience require a special hands-free interface to work with your factory steering wheel controls. Otherwise, there can be canbus issues, that require some fiddling to work out. Maybe you don't want to figure it out, but most people like me buying a unit are doing so because we are installing it ourselves. These as I pointed out are in many ways easier than most because you can get a unit from them that is made for your model and they will supply a loom that most do not. Further, I don't think you are comparing apples to apples when your name brand unit will cost 5 to 10 times as much. I also think your radio issue would have been resolved had you gone to the play store and installed a new radio app. I do most of my mechanical work and am a DIY kind of guy, and these are impressive units for anyone on a budget. I have been on enough automotive forums to tell you that factory head units and radios do sometimes go bad, and are only covered for the first 3 years of most warranties. An aftermarket unit will have an even shorter warranty. Have you checked install prices from dedicated auto stereo places? I just find you have allowed your disappointment to colour your judgement a bit here. Unlike you I was not provided one for advertising, I just bought it. Even if it dies in 6 months or a year I will just buy another, they are that cheap, and it takes me 10 minutes to install. I would be really curious to know what Pioneer or Kenmore unit you bought to replace it, and lay it on us-- how much did you spend???
In your defense, I did not realize that units for your Ford are 2 to 3 times the price I paid for mine for a Subaru Forester for a 9'' screen. For some reason, you can also get better deals off Aliexpress for them sometimes than from their own site, and it gets you extra buyer protection.
@@mikequinlan3308 I installed the radio in my friend's car. He was looking for an upgrade from his factory CD player with no navigation or rearview camera. Like most people, he just expected the thing to work, without any tinkering. He gave the radio a chance, and after 3 months of use, decided the old Ford CD player with no extra features was better. His complaints were: 1. Steering wheels buttons don't work 70% of the time. 2. Glare on the screen make it impossible to see. 3. Sometimes unit won't turn off and drains the battery. I tried every steering wheel button setting in the Seicane unit and installed an anti-glare screen protector on it, but it still wouldn't work right. I just re-installed the old CD player and did not buy an expensive navigation system for this car. A good Kenwood Navigation system would cost at least $600, but the Seicane system is far more expensive, because you buy that, realize it doesn't work, waste a bunch of time, then also buy the Kenwood. I'm sure the simpler Seicane units that don't connect to the steering wheel buttons would be more reliable, but I did not test one of those.
I got an email from seicane, offering a free navigation system in exchange for making a video. The Navigation system was "free" but I ended up paying $175 for shipping and a rearview camera. The installation was easy and I was impressed by how everything just plugged in without adapters. Unfortunately, it just didn't work very well. I have an affiliate program set up with Seicane, but I haven't made any money, because after watching this video, people don't buy the radio. Most people commenting have had similar experiences with their Seicane products not working properly, and no support from the company when they have problems. The few people who had good experiences with Seicane tell me I'm an idiot and the radio doesn't work because I don't know how to install stereos.
I don't have this exact head unit, but a comparable Chinese head unit. What are the odds you would part with the remote that came with your unit? Mine didn't come with an Ir remote, but there is a sensor for one. It might not even work with my head unit, but I am willing to take a shot. I would pay for shipping obviously. Or if you are not willing to part with the remote, are you able to get a part number off of it? Thanks
I parted with that remote a long time ago, right into the trash, along with my Seicane navigation system. The system never worked right from day 1, and after 3 months of serious malfunctions (can't see the screen, unit won't turn off, steering wheel buttons cut out), I decided the crappy old stock radio was much better than the Seicane system. Check eBay for a remote.
We were told it would be plug & play (comes all cables/plugs/adapters) for the Seicane radio onto Tucson. The nightmare news with the worst company you can deal with: 1. Nothing fit onto the SUV's 7 cables 2. No antenna adapter cable 3. No installing manual 4. No wiring diagrams 5. No model of radio & hd TV receiver 6. No 12VDC Adapter for hd TV receiver 7. No supports 8. Back and forth emails for over 2 months 9. $300+ unit and not working with still 5 cables (from SUV) not hook to radio X. Scammed me & now it's over 30 days warranty Asked them to double checks & includes images/videos of my radio & 7 cables before sending me unit. Filed complaints to my credit card & BBB & Jack Ma and Daniel Zhang
I install a secaine unit and now I have problems with climate heating. If I set 26 C very cold air comes. I have to set maximum to warm the car. The unit displays - 127 C. I switched back the old oem unit and works perfect. Can you help me please?
It sounds like you've already figured it out. Put the secaine unit in the trash and buy a good brand like Alpine, Kenwood, or Pioneer if you want an aftermarket stereo. My secaine unit also never worked right. It seems like that company makes a lot of radios quickly and skips product testing. It looks like a good deal, but once you get their products, you realize they are worth nothing.
I would have to say you're right. Seicane sent me a stereo "for free" for $100 to do a review. They charged me $75 for shipping, plus another $40 for the rearview camera stuff. They sent me a unit that did not fit my car. I spent another $80 shipping it back to them, which they reimbursed me for. My experience dealing with their company was actually very good. They responded to emails quickly, and gave me good service. Unfortunately, it seems they skipped many steps in developing and testing their products, so everything is garbage that doesn't work right. A lesson I've learned many times is: cheap shit stereos cost more than expensive stereos. You'll lose lots of time and money, then you still have to buy the expensive radio later.
I just got an email from Seicane to do a review. I was wanting to do my research to see if it's even worth it as a product, it looked pretty cheap and not very user friendly, plus I already have Kenwood stereo so I'll just stick with that lol.
Need help!!! I recently purchased a seicane unit for my 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco. It’s the 8.1 Android 9 inch display. I must say it is actually a pretty decent unit for the price but dealing with seicane has been a nightmare. I installed the unit in my car and for some reason the instrument cluster display the unit turned all of the information to Chinese. I’ve been going back and forth with them for a month and there “engineers” were never able to figure it out. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
I'm sorry to hear that. Based on my experience, and all the comments on this video, NONE of the Seicane radios work properly. The best thing you can do is throw it away and go buy a Kenwood radio.
I won't be doing another seicane video. This navigation system never worked right and I put the original radio back in the car. Only 5 of the 8 steering wheel buttons worked, and sometimes none of them worked. The screen was impossible to see because of glare. One time the radio froze and would not turn off. Seicane makes garbage. Their products are a waste of your time and money.
It's terrible! I'm going to do a 6 month review video soon pointing out all the problems. The screen is not visible during the day because of glare. The display is not bright and the screen is super cheap. The steering wheel buttons continue to malfunction, shutting off on hot days and randomly working when it's colder. The steering wheel buttons worked perfectly with the stock radio. This radio does not work properly, so I'm going to re-install the factory original CD player.
Horrible dont buy I bought one they have horrible service and when the product stops working they want you to pay for shipping and refuses to replace it without it being returned. Mine barely lasted 3 months
@@LabCoatPaul I paid $129 Cdn including shipping. The quality of the sound, screen image, nav everything is better than the Pioneer Avic that came with my Subaru as part of the $1800 entertainment package upgrade. That is the one sitting in my basement.
Yup. As a youtuber with not a lot of subscribers yet, I get the occasional Chinese company offering me products in exchange for a video. My "free" Seicane radio cost me $175, and it had some quirks. You can't see the screen during the day because of the glare. I could get half the steering wheel buttons to work, 40% of the time. Sometimes it would drain the battery and the car wouldn't start. Apple carplay displayed your phone icons smaller than on your phone screen. I'm stoked this video has a lot of views. Just read through the comments and everyone hates Seicane.
