You should have taken footage of both of them installed and working if you can "get it in and out in ten minutes," I'm torn between these two units. I like the iDoing because the screen looks bigger and more accessible, but the Seicane seems like less hassle to install. Cheers, and good luck with your build
He has footage of both if you look through his videos. He posted a 7 min video installing the idoing unit and he has videos going back to 2018 installing the seicane unit and using it. I have a seicane unit and looking to upgrade to the idoing or the dasaita, both sre the exact same unit I believe, the newer one with them px6 cpu chip. The sound quality on my seicane isn’t amazing so I’m between going with a real audio quality brand like jvc, pioneer etc or going with another android unit and sacrifice sound (maybe) but I’m hoping the newer idoing/dasaita unit produces better sound than my seicane does. I am probably gonna go with dasaita and if sound is same as seicane I will return and go with pioneer/JVC/Sony etc. the pioneer and JVC floating units look amazing but super super expensive.
You really didn't give us any info that we couldn't find out by looking at a few pictures.. how good are the touch screens? Audio quality comparison? How responsive are they? How fast do they boot up? Etc..
Just to say it, all those questions are in the noise. Boot up is the same, audio is the same, touch is the same, they all use the android platform. Which really means when you tear one apart, its similar to a repurposed android tablet from 4 years ago. Perfomance, UI, and UX is all comparably the same.
Thanks for the great video! I plan on buying the Idiong head unit. Glad to see you're from MA. I'm out in Medford! Might hit you up if I have issues installing haha.
I am actually very thankful my state does not require a front-mounted license plate. Even if your state would allow a 1:2 scale that would be significantly more manageable because most cars do not comfortably facilitate a license plate for the front. To make matters worse, they do not want you putting a tinted shader on it to reduce its intrusive nature. I know some people don't mind it, but for enthusiast its like having your state just say "Go ahead and just wear this butt-plug we designed for you. Oh, by the way its illegal to remove the spikes. We will be making sure you wear that butt-plug too and if you modify it, you'll wish you had not. Our senator wears his and doesn't mind it so we expect you to as well.
While I definitely like the cleaner look of the front of cars without front license plates, I 100% understand why some states require them. I mean think about it, it sure would suck if something bad happened and the only good look you could get at the car fleeing the area was of the front of it and because of that you had no ability to even GUESS part of the license plate to help police find them. It allows for people to identify a trackable thing to the owner of the vehicle from more than 1 side if needed. It’s not the worst thing in the world, especially for me living in NJ where it’s required where I just got the Perrin front tow hook license plate mount so it’s off to the side and actually looks kinda cool
@The Jersey Ninja that has nothing to do with why front plates are required. You think the cops care if they can't solve your crime? Please. Front plates are required because it mandates a flat reflective surface for them to bounce their lasers off of so they can write you a speeding ticket. Always revenue generation, never to serve and protect.
Hey Auto Enthusiast, thanks so much for this video. It's seldom someone has both headunits and compares them. Any noticeable difference(s) in audio quality? GPS? Or microphone quality? Look forward to the idoing install!
a decent improvement in sound quality from stock, Seicane is better for sound control than Idoing, Idoing has a slightly better GPS, and Idoing is better for microphone because it's wired, where Seicane uses one embedded in the unit.
@@AutoEnthusiast I believe you can use a wired microphone with seicane too, but not 100% sure. I wired up the stock mic to my seicane but I’m pretty sure it uses the built in mic because calls suck.
Good call, I have been tryibg to decide between the two. Do you notice any improvement in audio quality/ volume over stock. I have the base system & even w/ kicker upgrade the vol./qual. Isn't there. Thanks
Nice video! Plz tell me what wheels you have... I bought a '16 STi a few months ago and I have the exact same wheels, but I don't see any brand label on them, so I don't even know what I have lol Thnx!
Am I just doing something wrong, or is the link not taking me to the right seicane part? When I read the description, it seems like it won't fit my 2017 wrx
Does both of these have good audio quality? Like does it have quite a lot of wattages to at least have base to the speakers? Does it work with the reverse camera? Thanks!
I have the Seicane in my STI But I went all out and put a 4 channel and a mono block audio control with kicker components all around with one 12 inch sub! It’s been a year and no problems! If you go with the Seicane get the highest model with the DSP! It makes a huge difference in sound whether you stay stock speakers or upgrade them!!! Yes the stock cameras work with the unit! I added an actual dash cam though to be able to do much more!
I have the idoing and love it. Only compaint is that sometimes especially when using carplay, adjusting the volume via steering wheel buttons bugs out sometimes.
I have had the seicane for several months and i 100 percent hate it so far the seicane will not output any audio including phone conversations unless i select the radio first then switch to whatever i want to hear. the radio itself is horrible sometimes randomly selecting new stations on start up and sometimes just displaying repeating number 8 for station and station id. when its cold the unit outputs what can only be described as a robot rat in my dash through the speakers that fades out as temps rise( 30 to 50 degrees fareinheit). sometimes the usb stick i have reads and sometimes it doesnt sometimes it starts by playing the radio sometimes it will start the mp3 music. the back up camera was guess work and the pins were the wrong shape. all in all i do not recomend the seicane i purchased an idoing and cant wait to install the idoing
4 year old head units cannot be compared to a current head unit. They are all made in the same factory, just branded under different names. Comparing a 4 year old Android head unit to the current version just is not good and doesn't reflect what current Seicane units are like.
After watching these I think I'll go with an Alpine head unit. iDoing from what I understand is awful about RMAs, and they have no website that you can access from the US for a user manual, instructions, product specs or anything else. I'll pay extra for guaranteed great sound quality and a head unit that won't shut off on me.
Idoing all the way. Seicane have a bad reputation on costumer service and their products won't last long. You are lucky your seicane survives for 4 years, some only last for months. Avoid seicane product at all cost.
