I've had mine for a few days now and I absolutely love it! I'll admit, I don't have an extra $1k sitting around very often and I had a short list of watches/knives/gear I wanted but your review (and others like it) convinced me that I needed to try this one. I'm so glad I did too because it may be my favorite piece in my modest collection! Keep up the good work! 🍻

Excellent choice Josh. Absolutely incredible quality. Its alot of money but compared to the 300m its alot less for alot of watch. It's no joke. It wears like a 41mm, too. I simply do not get how Seiko has designed this thing where it looks on the wrist so wildly different than the specs suggest, in a good way. This series is a home run for Seiko, but I think it'll be out of reach for some due to the price point. I got mine -- The SBDC063 -- used (but basically unworn) for about $600. People can nitpick about the bezel not being ceramic and complain about the bracelet as they usually do with Seiko, but in this case I really do think it's nitpicking. It's such a great "dressy diver" and I'm the second owner of my watch but the thing is pretty much dead-on in terms of time, so the complainers about the 6R15 need not apply either. I'm not sure I would say it's on Omega's level, but definitely just below. A watch anyone would be proud to own.

I have the black version of this, the whole series is very nice. The build reminds me of the SBDC051 and similar. I really like both of these series. They also released a Blue dial/Pepsi Bezel Version and a Green guilded dial version. They wanted me ver $1,000 US for those versions. I got the Black Version from Gnoman for around $800.

I totally agree with you. The black version is sweet. I saw the green but I did not see the pepsi yet. I know the green is big $$. Hey Scott I just recently tried on a SPB097 which is like this watch but with a black and red bezel with a Twilight blue dial . I was blown away by the quality and how nice the watch was . I would rather have this watch than a Omega 👍🏻.

Just added one to the collection. It definitely wears like a 41 because of the bezel (but bigger in a better way) because of the case. If only Rolex made the Datejust 41 the same way it would be perfect. Wish it was a little bigger but perfect interpratation of the watch.

What is the difference between this watch and the marinemaster except the high price ?

Excellent question. I could go on forever about this. The two biggest difference to me are the movement and water resistance rating. The Seiko MM SBDX001 has the 8L35 movement with a 50hr pwr reserve and a 300m wr. The Seiko SPB083j1 is running the 6R15 automatic movement with a 50 pwr res. With a wr rating of 200m. Both have in house movements. Factor in the price and quality the spb083j1 is a killer deal. Hope that helps. 👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻⌚

Perfect in almost every sense. But if you have OCD like me better put aftermarket ceramic bezel on it,the shiny insert is very easy to scratch.

Hello Sunny. This is a great alternative to the Marine Master. You might hear it called the baby MM. But I wouldn't consider that its official name. Most likely you will hear it called the Great Blue Hole. This is buy far the Seiko I have ever owned. Thanks for watching and commenting!!👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻⌚
