Today a review of the SPB077, a reinterpretation model from last year's Baselworld 2018. This modern take on the legendary 6159, the grandfather of the Marinemaster 300. Unlike the limited and VERY expensive SLA025, this is a mid tier member of the Prospex family of divers watches.
Powered by the caliber 6R15 and coming with a sapphire crystal and solid bracelet, if is everything you would expect from a modern Seiko, all the way down to misalignment issues 😄

I couldn't agree more about the hands on this watch. They are the best hands ever put on a diving watch! The hands and the vintage looking dial are what made me , have to have this watch. I have a 7 3/4" wrist , so the case size is perfect. The case design and finishing are very good at this price point.

It’s really terrible that Seiko has this alignment problem. I actually recently got this model and luckily the alignment on mine is fine.

Nice watch but the misalignment issue is unacceptable. I’ve recently purchased a Seiko Blumo/Sumo and my watch had no alignment issues on chapter ring or bezel and I’ve never been more satisfied with a watch and for only $420 .

Hello watch geek, great chanl, I have a question, I bought the twilight blue. Is the same model but the dial is blue and the bezel orange and black. So my problem is that the lumubrite on the dial ist uneven placed, you Can see the did not take time or enough concentration and if that a close look you get to see that failure. Is this normal, should I return the watch or is somethi g normal? Greetings!

As long as people keep buying them they won't change a thing. It's a joke that they can't have every single watch properly inspected before it leaves the factory. You are a watch maker with more than 100 years experience, not some 2 year old micro brand.

ive known seiko's reputation for misalignment but cant help but giggle at this one. very good and honest review but i feel WG is unfortunate with this piece. over here in singapore, ive yet to see this misalignment issue with both new and used mm200. cant help but feel that this is a one off.

~ Greetings ~ I'm curious, as I heard through the rumour mill, that the - "Seiko H558 Arnie" - will have a re-release (later) this year. ~ around August ~ is this (rumour) true? ~ or just speculation? ~ Once I heard about this, it piqued my interest to get one, however, I haven't heard anything else about it. ~ If true, what I'm curious about it is, will it be (as you mentioned) at the start of this video, will it be a re-issue (or) a recreation? ~ what have you heard in terms of this rumoured re-release? and what thoughts do you have about the Seiko H558 Arnie re-release?

It is a great watch but I would never buy watch with missaligned dial/chapter ring no matter what is the price. It makes me very unsatisfied (Especially on 1000$ watch). Why Seiko why???

For me the sbdc061 is the closest thing we have to the 6159 period. Bezel, case, proportions, dial depth are really close to the original. Making SLA025 and MM300 suitable for saturation diving changed the proportions of the 6159 so much.

@@Ferien7 there is no actual difference. The SBDC061 is the reference for Japan and the SPB077- the one for rest of the world.

Citizen is much better. They pay more attention to details. No misalignment on Citizen watches

Wow the misalignment on this particular Seiko is pretty atrocious! My SPB077J only issue is the 12:00 chapter ring marker is slightly to the left (yours is to the right) of the 12:00 indices. Everything else is spot on so I really dont mind. I have mine on a waffle strap which helps minimize the size on my smaller wrist :)

I’ve never had a misaligned Seiko but the one in the video is horrid, that is classed as a defect and straight for a returns in my view…

If you are looking for smaller diver, take a look at the Shanghai military diver #114 reissue of China's first diver made for the army in 1963. Interesting history like the Seagull 1963 chronograph. Very unique.

Kinetic je kvarcni sat sa punjivom baterijom koja se napaja nošenjem, zamašnjak stvara elektromagnetsko polje koje puni bateriju. Automatic je čisti mehanički sat kod kojeg se nošenjem navija opruga. Kinetic je jako točan, Automatic be toliko

The lack of Signed Crown and missed alignment of the Bezel still make it a majour drawback in this watch. If Seiko makes it a little bit smaller in diameter, even at 200 US $ more, it will beat all other competitive watch makers by far.

Its believed ONLY grey market dealers have misaligned Seiko and you wont find a misaligned one at AD. 🤷‍♂️

It's a looker but three things eliminate it from my need-to-have list: 1. Case diameter too big 2. Dislike monster hour hands 3. Large bracelet links detract from comfort on small wrists

This is why I stopped buying seiko's 5 years ago. I bought a certina ds action quartz cosc certified for £250 in the sale in the UK. Absolute bargain! No quality issues, accuracy is insane! 2 seconds out in 5 months!! Def prefer Certina to Seiko!

I don't like these hands only for one reason only- they are painted. That's it. I still like the watch and it is on my wish list but I like hands to be brushed/polished metal, not painted.

If it is mis-aligned just return the watch. If more people did that , the problem would probably go away. I mean think about it. Nobody is making money if everyone is returning their watches. It is a no brainer.

It is not a bad looking watch, but the bad QC is an ever greater annoying thing. What the fudge is it with Seiko, don't they care? More and more i'am beginning to think it is arrogance. For this price I would personally go for a Casio Oceanus. Yes, a Casio! No QC problems here if you don't hate a quartz movement, it's perfection.

Great watch if it was $300! For that price i have a hydroconquest with 10 times better finishing and 300m water resistance! Seiko is going real deep down real fast!

Lol. Everyone else is allowed to make expensive watches but all Seikos must be $300! This is simply not a cheap looking or cheap feeling watch. It punches above its weight, not below (providing you get one without misalignment issues).

You can get a Rolex copy indistinguishable from the real thing even under a loupe for $500. The caseback has to be removed before even a trained Rolex tech could spot that it's a fake so why do you think they're worth even $4k?

@@adamski101 Simple. I can sell it and get at least 9K for it on the secondary market. For safe conservative measure, it's as good as carrying around 4K cash since that's what I paid for it. I have seen the AAA knock offs in Thailand. Still garbage. Crap movement and crap water resistance. To me, worth more than the finish.

This is a $400 watch at best. It’s now 2022 and you can buy these new for $450 Australian which is around $600 AUD. It’s overpriced junk. I would have like some more honesty.
