Here is another unboxing of two very unusual watches. One Seiko, and one Orient. First up is the new Save the Ocean Antarctica Monster from Seiko. With one of the coolest dials I’ve ever seen. Up next is a brand new M-Force from Orient. This very unusual watch is kind of a cross between a Monster and a Tuna. Making things even stranger it has a compass bezel as well.

The dial on the Seiko is awesome! Great texture and color, and the penguin foot prints are really well done. Nice and subtle, but super cool touch. I like the asymmetrical look it brings. I love Sea World too. We spent a year in the US in 2017, and got season passes to Sea World, and went as often as we could!

Nice pictures Shane - I like the new setup. Both of the Antarctica dials are fantastic, but the Baby Tuna is slightly spoiled by the date at 4.30. My opinion, and full credit to anyone who loves it. There was a great deal available on the Monster here in Australia and I came really close, but it's too similar to the coral blue SBDC067. If that dial was available on a King Samurai it would be perfect. The M-Force - wow. That's a lotta steel. The crenelated crown guards are too much for me, so I think I'll wait a few years until the next iteration. But if someone has the Popeye arm to wear it, good for them.

Really enjoyed the video. I tried to purchase the Seiko Monster Antarctica as soon as I saw it on the Long Island Watch site. Unfortunately they sold out before I could place the order! I sent Marc an email and got on the waitlist. Ordered the following week and haven’t had any other watches on my wrist since I received it from USPS. I love the dial. Fortunately the bezel on mine lines up well. This is my second watch from the STO collection. I had purchased the Blue Whale Turtle last year. I’m thinking I might have to pick up a Manta and a Great White now too. Can’t say I care for the M-Force. Even on my 8.5” wrist I think it would just be too much. Reminds me of some of the Invictas.

Hello Shane, nice review on a nice Seiko even though Seiko has lost me because of recent practices. My favorite part is your personal connection to the foot prints. In my collection I have a few vostocs and a Captain Willard also that are very important to me. Why? During my military stint in the early 70s among other places I was stationed in Germany near the Chec border during the cold War. The watches have a special place in my collection.

I went for the Baby Tuna but it wasn't an easy choice between the two. Excellent photography Shane and usual fine review. I have several Orient watches but the M Force won't be added to the collection.

2 very nice watches Shane, looking forward to the reviews, the Seiko is an attractive piece and I admit I love that Orient M-FOOORRCCEEEE! LOL. I have a shade under 8" wrist so the size is good, my Mako XL which is 44.5mm is very comfortable. Honestly if I had the budget right now I'd buy it. As for the Seiko, I hate to say it, but there's a new frost dial Heimdallr Monster with sapphire glass (no cyclops👍), solid e/l bracelet, same movement for about $180. Unfortunately though, it lines up perfectly too, so not quite a Seiko 😉

Nice knife, Shane (first things first). If I had to pick between the 2 Seiko's mentioned, I would have to pick the Tuna version. That oblong cyclops is just asking for the Seiko treatment. That's just one too many things for them to get lined up. EVERY one of the regular monsters I have seen has something crooked on it. Every single one. I like Orient, but; I'd have to study on that M-Force for awhile.

The Antarctic is still amazing. A thought on the Orient. I spent $80 replacing the bracelet on a Kamasu with a Miltat. That bracelet would be just fine- if you put a Miltat diver clasp with extension in place. For $20 to $30 less. And yes. It looks as overbuilt as a Ruger SA revolver.

I really want this new Seiko Monster. I already own the new 2020 Mforce diver with red dial and black bezel . Love my new Orient Mforce watch. This new Mforce land master is cool and love the stainless steel bezel. The Mforce is 45 mm but 47 mm with crown guards.

I saw you listed the caliber on the Seiko as a NH35A, but officially It's a 4R36 of course 😆 Not sure if in practice it matters at all. But it sounds better I guess. I'm really thinking about picking one up too.. The Orient on the other hand... 🤔 Weird one. Those crazy oversized crown guards are a bit ugly to me, but the rest looks kinda cool and unique...

The M-force has a pretty large fan base here in Malaysia, I don't really get the older versions even though I've seen it in steel for a few times, but this new all steel looks does look kinda... intimidatingly cool?

I ought the orange monster just when you reviewed the ice monster. A month later I bought the ice monster too. The ice monster's hour hand is +6 minutes off, and the movement is always slow. The orange monster was perfectly aligned, but suddenly the movement was + and - all over the place. I had a watchmaker regulate it, and it worked at +5 seconds a day for a few weeks, before it started being all over the place AGAIN. Both movements definitely had not experienced any hard bumps or anything that would explain them being off. Now both are sitting in the box for months already, my interest in them is GONE.

I had the seiko ice monster also. Paid only $200. Unfortunately I sold it a while back. I really really regret doing that. Now the cheapest I can get one for is about 350.

Great content as always Shane! I will never understand the design logic that went into the m-force minute second hand counterbalance :/ just why??? Apart from the case size I don't see any other negatives per say! Both watches looks ubercool! Please don't ever get rid of the monster Shane!

I thought the seiko looked better off the wrist but on the wrist that orient looked well cool. Both great looking watches though. It is a shame that the orient bracelet has that cheap looking clasp but aside that it's the one I think I'd choose.

The Antarctica Monster is my favorite dial within the Save the Ocean lineup. I was really taken away with the Manta Ray dials, but I quickly became annoyed at the amount of reflection on the dial itself, so they rarely got wrist time. I like the first gen Save the Ocean with the Humpback Whale "lines" and the Antarctica very much. The penguin feet are subtle enough they blend in unless you look closely enough, and the fumé effect blending with the chapter ring is near perfect at normal viewing distance. Just a quick thought here, what would you think of this Monster, but with a dark blue bezel? A little bit like on the PADI monsters.

I think the steel bezel is a better choice. I have the Heimdallr version of the padi with the blue bezel, and wasn't too impressed with that part. Here I think it would distract a little from the dial. Where the steel acts as more of a frame.

Great video, the monsters may benefit if the designers improve bezel, in my humble opinion it is kind of ugly, that is why I stay away from that line, the Orient M Force looks great.

I like Seiko & Orient Dive watches with a preference toward Orient (after Seiko abandoned the SKX). The Orient M-Force looks are overkill for me, so I'd pass. I like the Antarctica Monster, but it seems a bit overpriced. Side note, I bought a Baby Ice Monster 2 years ago after watching your video, and it's still one of my favorites!

Yah it is a bit. Mostly because it's new, so it's going to be at almost MSRP. One reason I jumped on it now is because I think it might sell out. The frost monsters used to be this price and are now over a grand if you find one.

I like the Orient. To me the "M-Force" name always referred to the power reserve indicator all M-Force models had. I'm not a fan of the new ones.

The 'extinction' special ... a.k.a. dino-monster ... they could even have smaller runs of select dinosaurs .. triceratops, t-rex, brontosaurus, sea-dino with a megalodon etc.

That penguin dial is beautiful, but the two watches it comes on aren't my style. Monster and Tuna models put so much emphasis on the bezels (and to a lesser extend, the cases) that dials - in my opinion - are easily overshadowed by what's framing them. If they ever port that dial over to a Samurai or a Turtle, then I'm in trouble...

I was also "afraid" of that when I got the Antarctica, never having tried a Monster before. Here though, I cam assure you, all eyes go straight to the dial. It's impossible to get the effect from a video, but because of the way the markers sit on top of where there is a change in color, they sometimes almost appear as floating over the ice. I'm not sure how to put it, but they work much better here because of that chapter ring then they would on the samurai/turtle. Keep in mind, you are seeing things pretty much bigger here than you would on your wrist, which kind of "distorts" the effect.

That's true. Sometimes a wrist shot tells things more like it is. I'm a little frustrated with the bezel and the fit of the endlinks suck. Yet even with that this is becoming one of my favorites. The dial texture and coloring is very unique. I'd be curious to see Seiko do a grey version that looks like the moon. Complete with little craters.

I own the Monster V2, and an orange V1(well used but purchased at a reasonable price)…I just received a homage from HEIMDALLR. ‘Frost monster’….some sharp edges! But otherwise a better watch than my Seiko’s…Sorry Seiko. Sapphire crystal, better bracelet/clasp, same quality movement etc etc….$149 pre order(had to wait 3-4 months) now $189…. No reason to buy the Seiko…unless the brand name is worth $400-500 more to you.

The Seiko dial looks really cool. The poor bezel alignment is not acceptable and Seiko needs to improve those bracelets. The M force though is super odd/ugly. Weird crown guards, awful bracelet and ugly indices are just the start. The Orient is a definite no.

The Orient reminds me of a Seiko Franken Monster at 9:09 and the mention of a smooth bi-directional bezel made me think Seiko Flightmaster. Two great Seikos I own at almost double the price I paid for both...I'm just an old man that is very bitter about inflation, haha.

I've had it for a while now, and surprisingly not bad. Mostly because the background is more of a light blue that gets much darker as you get to the outer edges. Which contrasts enough from the pure white on the hands and indices.

Seiko are pushing it... The downgrade off the movement, low clasp, misalignments, very cheap box... Asking 500 euros for this is too much even though it looks nice... Great video though!
